Thelma Frakes - 'a nice lady'

Thelma Faye Turner Frakes was an Erlanger resident and homemaker.

"She had her own strong opinions, and she was just a nice lady," said her husband, Ray Frakes.

Mrs. Frakes died Thursday evening at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. She was 77.

Mrs. Frakes was born and reared in Campbell County.

She worked for a telephone company and also a Cincinnati business that made jet engines - now General Electric - before marrying Ray Frakes in 1959.

Mrs. Frakes was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church in Latonia.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Wayne Morris, and a daughter, Brenda Morris Choshnitzke.

Besides Mr. Frakes, survivors include a daughter, Karen Morris Whaley of Florence; a sister, Juani ta McClanahan of Butler; four grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home in Latonia. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highlands cemetery in Fort Mitchell.

Joy M. Baker, 39, of Fort Thomas, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

Survivors include parents, Charles and Elnora Baker of Fort Thomas; and a sister, Jill Wood of Fort Thomas.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Monday. Burial: Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials: American Cancer Society, 7730 Highway 42, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Keith Owen Brockman Sr., 71, of Latonia, died Thursday at his home. He was a retired union organizer and business agent for the AFL-CIO. Survivors include his wife, Dolly Chapman Brockman of Latonia; sons, Keith Brockman Jr. of Brooksville and Caleb Chester Brockman of Elora, Tenn.; daughter, Nancy K. Brockman of Huntland, Tenn.; stepsons, Forester Luns ford of Evansville, Ind., and Joe Lunsford of Winchester, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Arzella Lunsford of London; brothers, Glen Brockman of St. Augustine, Fla., and Kenneth Brockman, Gary Brockman and Scott Brockman, all of Florence; sisters, Gloria Brockman of Las Vegas, Nev., Joann West of Falmouth, Shirley Christy, Langda Martin and Helen West, all of Florence; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

William A. Burkhouse, 50, of Burlington, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a Realtor with Remax Affiliates in Fort Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Burkhouse; a son, Eric Burkhouse of Holland, Texas; a daughter, Rachel Burkhouse of Holland; a stepdaughter, Amanda Napier of Burlington; his father, Walter Burkhouse of New Bedford, Pa.; brothers, Charles Burkhouse and Wilbur Burkhouse, both of the state of California; and five grandchildren.

Services: 10 a.m. today at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials: Florence Baptist Temple Building Fund.

Mary Charlene "Char" Callen, 37, of Erlanger, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday at her home. She was a home- maker and a member of White Oak Presbyterian Church, White Oak, Ohio.

Survivors include her husband, Gregory L. Callen of Erlanger; daughters, Angela Haering and Amanda Haering, both of Madeira, Ohio; her mother, Mary Hersh, and stepfather, Marvin Hersh, both of Forest Park, Ohio; brothers, Kendall Millecker Jr. of Colerain Township, Ohio, and Geoffrey Millecker of Mason, Ohio; and sisters, Christine Haught of Tampa Bay, Fla., Mary Elizabeth Burris of White Oak, and Mary Kathleen Walter of Colerain Township.

Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation: noon until the time of services Monday. Burial: Arlington Cemetery, Mount Healthy, Ohio.

Orman Wilhoit Conrad Sr., 85, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Allender Conrad; sons, O. W. Conrad and Dale Conrad, both of Falmouth, and John Conrad of Manila, Philippines; brothers, Allen Conrad of Florence and Louis Conrad Jr. of Winter Haven, Fla.; sisters, Louise Ball of California and Mildred Anderson of Pembroke; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. today at Trinity Southern Baptist Church, Falmouth. Visitation: 1-2 p.m. today at the church. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Memorials: Trinity Southern Baptist Church, 309 E. Shelby St., Falmouth, Ky. 41040. Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, is handling arrangements.

Shirley Owens Cutlip, 33, of Falmouth, died Thursday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington.

Survivors include her husband, Odas Cutlip of Falmouth; parents, Danny "Buck" and Leona Owens of Falmouth; sister, Sonya Owens Texaj of Fort Smith, Ark.; maternal grandmother, Merrill Winkle of Falmouth; and paternal grandmother, Judith Owens of Falmouth.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Peo ples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation: 4-9 p.m. Sunday. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Memorials: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2011 Madison Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45208.

Marvin Dotson, 63, of Sardis, died at 11:55 a.m. Thursday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. He was a retired employee of Emerson Power Transmission.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Buckler Dotson of Sardis; sons, Michael E. Dotson of Mount Olivet and Allen T. Dotson of Brooksville; daughter, Cindy Gallagher of Mays Lick; brother, Roger W. Dotson of Lewisburg; and four grandchildren.

Evelyn Dwertman, 85, of Fort Wright, died at 12:05 p.m. Friday at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington.

Sherry Lynn Etenburn, 47, of Orange, Texas, formerly of Augusta, died Wednesday at her home. She was a secretary and a member of St. Augustine Church, Augusta.

Survivors include her husband, James Etenburn of Orange; sons, Jamey Etenburn at home and R.C. Cra craft of Mount Orab, Ohio; daughter, Laura Sowers of Lewisburg; stepdaughter, Pam Weist of Cincinnati; mother, Dora Hay, and stepfather, Bud Hay, both of Augusta; sisters, Penny Hedgecock of Brooksville, Angie Curtis of Maysville and Lisa Barrett of Augusta; brothers, Kevin Adams of Augusta and Keith Adams of Columbus, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial: 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Church. Visitation: 6-9 p.m. Monday at Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home, Augusta. Burial: St. Augustine Cemetery, Augusta. Memorials: to St. Augustine School; or American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Dennis Michael Jameson was stillborn Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Survivors include his parents, Robert Edgar Jameson and Jill Lynette Haddix, both of Erlanger; step-grandfather, Dennis Hoffrogge, and paternal grandmother, Connie Hoffrogge, both of Erlanger; paternal grandfather, John Jameson of Cincinnati; and maternal grandmother, Pam Neff of Burlington.

Graveside services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery, Ohio. No visitation. Memorials: Ruth Lyons Children's Christmas Fund, P.O. Box 59, Cincinnati, Ohio 45201-0059.

Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Dora Smith, 91, formerly of Latonia, died Friday at Daly Park Nursing Home, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, Charles Russell Smith of Independence and Ted Closterman of Dayton; daughters, Dorothy Kidd of Latonia and Virginia Dunnock of Mount Healthy, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service Monday. Burial: Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials: Vitas Hospice of Ohio, 1132 West Kemper Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45240.

Allene D. Soward, 71, of Maysville, died Wednesday at Eprain McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.

Survivors include a son, William "Jed" Soward of Maysville; daughters, Lolene Noel Cheeks of Nicholasville and Valerie Dawn Soward of Destin, Fla.; and a grandson.

Services: 3 p.m. Sunday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation: noon Sunday until services. Burial: Memorials: Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, Ky. 41056.
