Latonia's Howard Cotton, rail foreman, knew 'what love really means'

The first meeting of Howard and Mary Lou Cotton was as random as it was romantic.

"He always told us when you believe in something, you have to give it your all," said his daughter, Noella Byerly, of Villa Hills. "Through him, I think our entire family learned what love really means."

"He is one of the greatest people I've ever known," said his granddaughter, Karen Byerly. "He was a big part of my life as well as a constant source of support."

Other survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Noel Cotton; a son, Noel Howard Cotton of Villa Hills; sisters, Anna Traylor of Lennoxburg, Carrie Belle Thornton of Butler and Goldie Kirkendoll of Cincinnati; and two other grandchildren.
