Rev. George E. Schneider, St. Paul's pastor

The Rev. George E. Schneider was a Catholic priest who enjoyed working with his parishioners.

Father Schneider, who retired in 1999 as pastor of St. Paul Church in Florence, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice in Covington. He was 67 and lived in Newport.

"He was a very caring man," said his brother, Robert Schneider of Newport. "He was very close to me and to the people he served. It's a great loss for all of us."

Father Ralph Beiting influenced his brother's decision to become a priest, said Mr. Schneider.

Father Schneider was ordained May 31, 1958, by the Most Rev. William T. Mulloy at St. Mary Cathedral in Covington. He was assigned first as an assistant at St. Stephen Church in Newport, and he taught at Villa Madonna College in Covington.

He received a doctorate from the University of Chicago and Notre Dame in 1960. In 1989, he was an associate at Blessed Sacrament Church in Fort Mitchell, and in 1991 at St. Paul Church. He became pastor at St. Paul in 1992.

In his spare time, he liked to dine with his brother and spend time with his nieces and nephews. He was a great debater who loved great conversations.

"He was a very brilliant man," Mr. Schneider said. "But he really was a people person. I know the people at St. Paul feel that. He was a great leader."

Mass of Christian burial will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Church, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, Mich.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Church Building Fund, 7301 Dixie Highway, Florence, Ky. 41042, or St. Elizabeth Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington, is handling arrangements.

Luona Martin Dunn, 88, of Williamstown, died Sunday at Hilltop Nursin g Home, Cincinnati. She was a member of Mount Olivet Church of Christ, Williamstown and a former member of Heeken Homemakers. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Denver Dunn, died in 1985.

Survivors include a son, Martin L. Dunn of Williamstown; a daughter, Jackie Smoot of Crittenden; a brother, Roy Kenneth "Shag" Martin of Williamstown; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to charity.

Betty Jane Rindsberg Erb, 76, of Fort Thomas, died Sunday at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery, Ohio. She was a retired executive secretary for Beau Brummel Ties and past president of the Fort Thomas Women's Club.

Survivors include a son, Barry Erb of Fort Thomas; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Faith Presbyterian Church, Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in Saint Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Faith Presbyterian Church, 6434 Corbly Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45230.

Travis Fryman, 20, of Newport, died Monday at Saint Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was disabled.

Survivors include his parents, Alan and Pamela Fryman of Newport; maternal grandparents, Joyce and Donald Ackerson of Newport; and paternal grandmother, Rosemary Fryman of Dayton. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at A. C. Dobbling & Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill.

Michael Christopher Genter, 40, of Erlanger, died Thursday at Middle Creek Park in Burlington. He was a registered nurse at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.

Survivors include sons, Devin Genter and John Genter, both of Bridgeport, W. Va.; a daughter, Melissa Genter of Bridgeport; his mother, Laura Brandner of Erlanger; his father, William Genter of Newburgh, N. Y.; a brother, Bill Genter of Independence; and sisters, Joan Adams of Williamstown and Susan Lantz of Erlanger.

Services were today. Cremation was at Baxter Cremation Service, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 10901 Reed Hartman Highway, Blue Ash, Ohio 45242. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Lawrence Hamilton, 63, of Washington Court House, Ohio, formerly of Falmouth, died Monday at Courthouse Manor, Washington Court House.

Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Loretta Hymer, 79, of Warsaw, formerly of Erlanger, died Sunday at Carroll County Hospital, Carrollton. She was a homemaker and a member of Kento-Boo Baptist Church, Florence. Her husband, Harry V. Hymer, died June 29, 1980.

Survivors include daughters, Florence Hymer of Lexington, Joan Eddins of Dry Ridge and Donna Morris of Newport; sons, Kenneth Hymer of Verona and Robert Hymer of Hickory, N. C.; sisters, Betty Bell of Falmouth, Ruth Buffaloe of Huntsville, Ala., Evelyn Masterson of Florence, and Faye Wells of Norwood, Ohio; brothers, Bob Bell of Maysville, Delbert Bell of Chicago, and Erdman Bell of Springfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to the Kento-Boo Baptist Church Building Fund, 634 Kento-Boo Ave., Florence, Ky., 41042.

Callie C. Combs Johnson, 90, of Newport, died Sunday at Saint Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, John Johnson of Newport; a daughter, Roberta Stidham of Newport; a sister, Myrtle Riley of Franklin, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crocketville Cemetery.

Theresa Lynn Lutes, 44, of Independence, was dead on arrival Sunday morning at Saint Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a clerk at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel Lutes; sons, John Lutes and Michael Lutes, both of Independence; a daughter, Maria Orue of Cincinnati; brothers, George Blanchet of Florence, Dan Blanchet of Dayton, Andrew Blanchet and Mark Blanchet, both of Independence, Greg Blanchet of Erlanger and Mike Blanchet of Covington; and sisters, Rose Blanchet, Patricia Hughes and Joan Martin, all of Covington, Bonnie Blanchet of Hebron, Jean Clark of Erlanger and Betsy Leimeyer of Woodstock, Ga.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Saint John Church, Covington. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Burial will be in Saint Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

David McIntosh, 35, of Florence, died Monday at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice in Covington.

Arrangements are pending at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.

William M. "Bill" Mills, 79, of Collinsville, Ill., formerly of Covington, died Wednesday at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis. He was a retired sales representative for Newell Companies, Freeport, Ill., former manager for Newberry department store, Collinsville, and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Collinsville.

Survivors include his wife, June Mills; sons, Dr. William Mills of Granite City, Ill., and Edward Jeff Mills of Caseyville, Ill.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services were Monday at First Baptist Church, Collinsville. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Cincinnati. Strawser Funeral Home, Blue Ash, Ohio, handled local arrangements.

Walter Lee Nash, 53, of Fort Mitchell, died at 12:50 a.m. Saturday at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a machinist for Keco Industries.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda K. Barnett Nash; sons, Walter Lee Nash II of Louisville, Michael Allen Ackman of Burgin, and Ricky Nash of Covington; daughters, Christina Sanders of Fort Mitchell, Dorothy Frances Nash of Loveland, Ohio, Lisa Ann Nash and Sherry Nash, both of Covington; brothers, William "Billy" Nash and Robert "Butch" Nash, both of California; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

Thelma F. Randall, 85, of Covington, died at 8:25 a.m. Monday at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Floyd B. Randall, died Feb. 8, 1987.

Survivors include sons, Floyd W. Randall of Independence and Ronnie Randall of Covington; a daughter, Donna Jean Fey of Covington; a brother, Robert Malin of Union; sisters, Betty Cover of Florida, Violet Doughtery of Amelia, Ohio, Norma Clayfelter of Florence, and Delores Tunney of Ludlow; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A blessing will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Connley Bros. Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

William M. Revell, 76, of Cold Spring, died at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport. He was a retired forklift operator for Wiedemann Brewery, Newport, where he worked for more than 40 years. He formerly was a part-time patrolman for the Cold Spring police for several years. He also formerly was a part-time maintenance employee for 15 years at Saint Joseph School in Cold Spring.

Survivors include his wife, Fern Gasdorf Revell; a daughter, Michele Johnson of Edgewood; and one grandson.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Saint Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Saint Joseph Church, 4011 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, Ky., 41076, or Notre Dame Academy, 1690 Hilton Drive, Park Hills, Ky., 41011. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Gracie Nicole Richardson, 2-week-old daughter of Joseph and Christina Richardson of Ludlow, died Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, from complications of a premature birth.

Other survivors include paternal grandparents, William and Rhonda Richardson of Covington; maternal grandparents, William and Shanna Joseph of Osgood, Ind., and Diane Tuchfarber of Cincinnati; paternal great-grandfather, Joseph Richardson of Covington; and maternal great-grandparents, Robert and Adel Tuchfarber of Cincinnati, Robert and Kay Sowder of Greenfield, Ind., and Fred and Jackie Jacobs of Harrison, Ohio.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Neo-Natal Unit, Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45220. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling arrangements.

Nannette Prather Sakson, 47, of Florence, died Sunday at Saint Luke Hospital West in Florence. She owned/operated A Head of the Times in Erlanger for 17 years. She was a member of Heritage Assembly of God, Florence.

Survivors include her husband, Hugo Sakson; her parents, Riley and Irene Prather of Dry Ridge; brothers, Joe Prather of Union and Tony Prather of Dry Ridge; a sister, Linda Mullins of Verona; and 20 nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Heritage Assembly of God, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Keefer Cemetery, Keefer. Memorials are suggested to Heritage Assembly of God, 7216 U. S. 42, Florence, Ky., 41042.

Nadine Saunders, 82, of Independence, formerly of Fleming County, died Sunday at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired computer specialist for Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio.

Survivors include nephews, Murphy Combs of Colorado and Robert Combs of the state of California.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 this afternoon at Hillsboro Cemetery, Fleming County. Boone-Nickell Funeral Home, Flemingsburg, is handling arrangements.

Rebecca Ann Peterson Scheibly, 71, of Newport, died Sunday at her residence. She was a retired employee for Clarion Hotel, Cincinnati. Her husband, William E. Scheibly, and a son, Michael Scheibly, both died in 1996.

Survivors include daughters, Sandra Wikle of Alexandria, Deborah Ebert of Camp Springs an d Jane E. Scheibly of Cincinnati; a son, John E. Scheibly of Newport; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Saint Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Mary Lou Smith, 81, of Latonia, died at 12:35 p.m. Monday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia. She was a retired bookkeeper for the state of Ohio Council on Aging. She formerly was a bookkeeper for the Sunkist Co. and Union Central Life Ins. She was a member of First Christian Church, Covington, and Wade Branch of the YWCA, Covington.

Survivors include a sister, Ruth J. Davidson of Fort Wright.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at Allison & Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church, 14 W. Fifth St., Covington, Ky., 41011.

Donald Turner, 52, of Butler, died Monday at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War. A daughter, Sherry Turner, died June 29, 1975.

Survivors include daughters, Shannon Turner and Lori Turner, both of Newport; a son, Jason Turner of Newport; a brother, Beech Turner of Michigan; sisters, Jessie Combs of Florence and Brenda Arrowood of Walton; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at New Macedonia Old Regular Baptist Church, 12th Street and Central Avenue, Newport. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Combs Cemetery, Breathitt County. Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, is handling arrangements.

Nettie Mae Walters, 84, of Cynthiana, died Sunday at Grand Haven Nursing Home, Cynthiana. She was a homemaker and a 60-year member of Silas Baptist Church, Bourbon County. Her husband, Arthur Walters Sr., preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Art Walters Jr. of Lexington, Bob C. Walters and Melvin R. Walters, both of Cynthiana, and James O. Walters of Winchester; a daughter, Josephine White of Sadieville; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery, Bourbon County.
