Doris Howard
The funeral service for Mrs. Doris Howard was held at 10 a.m.
Friday in the chapel of Crosier-pearson Funeral Home. Burial
will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Howard, 43, 518 N. 2nd St., Brownfield, died Tuesday
at a Brownfield hospital.

John G. Holcomb
John G. Holcomb, 62, died Saturday night in Corsicana.
Holcomb, a resident of Blum for 16 years, was born in Ellis
County and was married to Annie Elizabeth Boone. He moved
to Blum from Bosque County 16 years ago. He was an employee
of the G. C. and S. F. railroad, and was a member of the
Methodist Church.

Funeral services were to have been held at 2 o'clock this
afternoon at the Blum Baptist Church, with the Reverand J.
G. Miller officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, under
the direction of Dillon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Ross Walts, Clay Hyder, Earl Hall, Warner
McBee, Frank Martin and Henry Ripley.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. John G. Holcomb of Blum; four
sons, Engine Cheif Charles B. Holcomb of Norfolk, Va.; Johnnie
M. Holcomb of Houston; Edwin D. Holcomb of Fort Worth and
Serveant Herschel Holcomb of Carswell Field, Fort Worth; one
daughter Mrs. T. P. Coburn of Blum; one brother Jim B. Holcomb
of Trinidad; four sisters Mr.s W. L. King of Trinidad (the rest of
the obit is cut off)

Mrs. Holcomb and Son Buried Today
The funeral service for Mrs. Dollie Holcomb and her son, Herschel
R. Holcomb Jr. was held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Dillon-Lammont
Chapel; Revs Grover Ward and June Allen officiating. Interment
was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wayne Stephens, Larry Wendell, Joe Hoton,
Jack Anderson, Eldon Ballard and Tommy Sheffield.
Mrs. Holcomb, 36, of 302 Sabine Street, died in childbirth at morning.
The infant was dead at birth.

Herschel Ray Holcomb
Graveside services for Herschel Ray Holcomb, 68, of Cleburne
will be conducted Nov 19, at 2 p.m., in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Holcomb died Nov 16 at his residence.

He was born May 22, 1925 in Kopperl, the son of John Gus Holcomb
and Annie Elizabeth Boone. His wife Dollie Marie Holcomb preceded
him in death Dec 22, 1966.

Holcomb retired in 1988 as a laborer in the car department of Santa
Fe Railroad. He was a member of the American Legion and served in
the U. S. Army and Navy during World War II and in Korea. Holcomb
had been a resident of Cleburne for 40 years.
Survivors include one son, Larry Holcomb of Blum; four daughters,
Brenda Pena of Burleson, Linda Howland of Fort Worth, Johnnie
McGlaun of Mansfield and Wanda Queen of Weatherford; two brothers,
Charlie Holcomb of Virginia and Edwin Holcomb of San Antonio; one
sister, Irene Coburn of Blum; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Services for T. P. Coburn, 84, of Blum, will be conducted Friday, Nov
14 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Blum.
The Rev. Kyle Livingston will officate. Burial will be in the Blum Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Kennedy, Bill Carmichall, Donald Wirz, Bob
Roberts, Bob Easley and Sam Howard.

Mr. Coburn died Tuesday Nov 11, at his residence in Blum.
He was born Friday May 2, 1913 in Blum to Theodore Patrick and Mary
Pricilla Smart Coburn. He married Edythe I. Holcomb Feb 28, 1936 in
Whitney. He was a self employed stock farmer and a member of the
First Baptist Church of Blum.

Survivors include his wife, Edythe Coburn, of Blum; two sons, Charles
Coburn of Denver Colo., and Mac Coburn of Blum; one brother Emmett
Coburn of Rio Vista; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, James Neal Coburn,
who died in 1990 and one great granddaughter Baily Hope Coburn who
died in 1996.

Neil Coburn
Fort Worth-Services for Neil Coburn, 51, of Fort Worth will be
conducted Dec 8, at 10 a.m. in First Baptist Church of Blum, with
Charlie Cox and the Rev. Mark Elder officiating. Burial will be in
Blum Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Goodman, John Kennedy, Don Ward,
Ray Prather, Billy Taylor and James Roye.
Coburn died Dec 5 in a North Richland Hills Hospital.
He was born Dec. 25, 1938, in Blum, the son of T. P. and Irene
Holcomb Coburn.

Coburn was operator-manager of Triangle Home Products in Fort
Worth. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Keller and
was a graduate of Blum High School and Baylor University.
Survivors include one son, Craig M. Coburn of Fort Benning, Ga;
his parents Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Coburn of Blum; two brothers Charles
H. Coburn of Aurora, Colo., and Ben M. Coburn of Kerens; two
grandchildren and a nephew.

Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home in Cleburne is in charge
of arrangements.

John L. "Buddy" Landon
Graveside services for John L. "Buddy" Landon, 67, of Cleburne
were conducted Thursday, Jan 2, at 10:30 a.m. in Kopperl
Cemetery in Kopperl with the Rev. Danny Rogers officiating.
Mr. Landon died Tueday, Dec 31, in a regional hospital.
He was born Jan 18 1929 in Kopperl. He married Alta Ellen Boone
April 2, 1949.

He was raised in the Kopperl and Morgan areas. He had lived in
Cleburne since 1958, moving from Kopperl. He was a retired
automobile mechanic. He was a member of Kopperl First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alta E. Landon of Cleburne; one
daughter, Darlene Dubois of Fort Worth; one sister, Helen Volles of
Clifton; two grandchildren and a number of neices, nephews and
other relatives.

Lawson Funeral Home in Meridan was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral Rites Conducted for Oscar L. Aaron

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist
Church for Oscar Lee Aaron, 49, well known Henderson County
farmer and stockman, who was killed Thursday at 4 a.m. in a
highway accident on US Highway 77.

Bro. Jim Holmes was in charge of the services and burial was in the
Oaklawn Memorial Park. The Hassell and Foster Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Maynard Massengale, Billy Wofford, Melvin Douglas,
Aubrey Aaron, Benny Wolverton, T. W. George, Walton Dupree and
Porter Lee.

Mr. Aaron had purchased a load of watermelons and was delivering
them to Corsicana when he was fatally injured two miles from Lexington.

Sheriff Vernon Goodson said Aaron apparently fell asleep while driving.
He said the truck hit a bridge abutment and crashed into a tangled
wreckage about halfway across the bridge. The trailer with its load of
watermelons plunged into the creek.

Mr. Aaron was born at Murchison and had live in Henderson County
all of his life. His farm is located five miles from Athens on the Pine
Grove Road. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Athens.

Survivors are his wife; five daughters, Mrs Myrtle McNew, Mrs. Mary
Jo Tanner and Mrs. Mary Ann Thomas, all of Athens, and Mrs. Elvie
Ruth Carlile and Mrs. Jackie Bea Langford of Fort Worth; two brothers,
Monroe Aaron and Jesse Aaron of Athens; one sister Mrs. Allie Hopkins
of Athens and nine grandchildren.

Athens Florist Killed by Train
Trinidad- Jesse Marvin Carlile, a 38 year old Athens florist, became
the 18th traffic fatality in Henderson County in a car-train accident
in Trindad Sunday morning.

Carlile, owner of the Athens Flower Mart, was pronounced dead at
the scene by Justice of the Peace Joe Faulk of Malakoff. The
accident occurred at the intersection of Lincoln Street and Cotton
Belt Railroad crossing in Trinidad.

Larry Hobson, investigating officer of the Department of Public
Safety, said it appeared Carlile attempted to apply the brakes of
his car before crossing the tracks but failed to stop in time.
Hobson said Carlile was thrown approximately 110 feet from the
late model station wagon he was driving upon impact with the
Cotton Belt engine driven by C. R. Love of Tyler.

According to the officer, the engine swept the station wagon
75 feet down the tracks after the collision.

There were no other injuries reported from the 3 a.m. accident.
Funeral services for Mr. Carlile are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in
Central Baptist Church in Athens with the Rev. Grover Bishop
officiating.

Burial will be in Price cemetery under the direction of Carroll
and Lehr Funeral Home.

Mr. Carlile was born in Fort Worth and had worked for General
Dynamics there until moving to Athens two and one half years ago.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ruth Carlile of Athens; three
sons, Jesse M. Carlile, James Darren Carlile and Joseph W.
Carlile, all of Athens; two daughters Cathy Ruth Carlile and Martha
C. Carlile, both of Athens; his mother, Mrs. Lillian Carlile of Fort
Worth; three brothers, J. T. Carlile of Houston, Jimmy Carlile of
Tulsa, Okla., and Howard Stone of Amarillo; three sisters, Mrs.
Earlie Sims of Athens, Mrs. Jeane Deason of Marshall and Mrs.
Herwald of Lorenz.
