O. Victor Steger, broker, farmer and church leader

O. Victor Steger, who was a charter member, elder emeritus and former chairman of the board of Sherman Church of Christ in Grant County, died at 4:20 p.m. Sunday at Owenton Manor Nursing Home in Owenton after an extended illness.

The Williamstown resident was 71.

Mr. Steger sat on a committee that planned and oversaw the development of Sherman Church of Christ in the early 1960s. He was ac tively involved in the church ever since.

Besides serving as a church elder and former chairman of the church board, he also taught Sunday school for more than 30 years, said his wife, Dolores Martin Steger.

"He loved the Lord," she said.

"He never wanted a lot of attention."

Mr. Steger grew up on a farm in Grant County and graduated from Mason High School.

After serving several years in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he went on to study agriculture at the University of Kentucky, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree.

He married his wife in 1948, and the couple moved to Williamstown in 1962. They did not have children.

In 1957, Mr. Steger went into business for himself as a real estate broker. He also was a dairy farmer.

"He'd take the cows out in the evening, and he'd sell real estate during the day," Mrs. Steger said.

Mr. Steger eventually retired in 1990.

Other survivors include sisters, Mary Frances Rose of Owenton and Pat Wilson of Asheville, N.C.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Sherman Church of Christ Building Fund, Dry Ridge, Ky., 41035.

George W. Blankenship, 87, of Circleville, Ohio, formerly of Florence, died Saturday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church, Circleville, and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Grace Hunt Blankenship, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a stepson, Edwin Waldron of Madera, Calif.; brothers, Arnold Blankenship of Amelia, Ohio, William Blankenship of York, Pa., Mastin Blankenship of High Point, N.C., Joseph Blankenship of Hilliard, Ohio, and Everett Blankenship of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Stella Terry of Circleville; two step-grandchildren and many great-step-grandchildren.

Services were this morning at Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Columbus. Memorials are suggested to Free Will Baptist Church, 225 Moats Ave., Circleville, Ohio, 43113.

Tom Englert, 58, of Taylor Mill, died Saturday in Atlanta. He was an owner of T.K.E. Enterprises Trucking Co.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Jo Redix Englert; a son, Mike Englert of Gibsonburg, Ohio; daughters, Linda Kennedy of Columbus, Ohio, Lori Price of Huron, Ohio, and Jennifer Englert of Abilene, Texas; his stepfather and mother, George and Rita McMahon of Monroeville, Ohio; a sister, Betty Schaffer of Norwalk, Ohio; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, Monroeville, Ohio. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Cur rin Funeral Home, Latonia, with services immediately following; and from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Jump Funeral Home, Monroe ville. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.

Louise Flege, 89, of Williams town, died Monday at Grant Manor Health Care Center in Williamstown.

Arrangements are pending at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.

Robert E. Greene Sr., 71, of Covington, died Monday at his home. He was a retired mechanical engineer with Seminole Bank in Florence. He was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and a member of Covington Senior Cit izens.

Survivors include daughters, Pat Brantley of Crescent Springs and Becky Watkins of Carrollton, Texas; a son, Bob Greene Jr. of Carrollton, Texas; brothers, Don Greene of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Gordon Greene of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Northern Kentucky Habitat for Humanity, P. O. Box 548, Covington, Ky., 41012.

Lawrence A. Gunn, 83, of Erlanger, died at 4:30 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a retired electrician with the Inter national Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 212, Cincinnati, and an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Annzetta V. Gunn; a son, L. Anthony Gunn of Indianapolis; and two grandsons.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Henry Curch, Elsmere. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky., 41014.

Everett C. Hamilton, 95, of Florence, died Monday at Florence Park Care Center, Burlington. He was a retired employee of Cincinnati Bell Telephone. His wife, Lottie Hamilton, died in 1984.

Survivors include a daughter, Adelya Rash of Erlanger; a sister, Mae Patton of Florence; a brother, Cliff Hamilton of Latonia; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.

Grace Horn Ruttencutter Hill, 88, of Independence, died at 6 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker. Her husband, George Hill, died in 1978.

Survivors include a son, Ron ald J. Ruttencutter of Fayetteville, Ohio; a daughter, Patricia Martin Dotson of Independence; a brother, Richard Horn of New Port Richie, Fla.; a sister, Ruth Schoept of Southgate; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Children's Hospital Medical Center, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio, 45229.

Curtis Hubbard, 38, of Silver Grove, died Sunday in an auto accident on Decoursey Pike in Morning View.

Arrangements are pending at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence.

Mia Ann Knotts, 13, of Ghent, died Sunday at University of Louisville Hospital. She was an eighth-grader at Gallatin County Middle School, Warsaw, and helped with child care during school events.

Survivors include her parents, Dennis and Malinda Knotts of Ghent; brothers, Kristoffer K. Knotts and Eric D. Knotts, both at home; grandparents, Ann Knotts of Carrollton, Rose Poling of Martinsville, Ind., and Keith and Karen Amick of Madison, Ind.; and great-grandparents, Adam Koch of Louisville and Lula Johnson of New Washington, Ind.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tandy-Eckler-Ril ey Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton. Memorials are suggested to the family.

Anita Catherine O'Hearn Knuehl, 76, of Melbourne, died at 9:29 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a retired teacher for Campbell County High School, and formerly taught at Dayton High School.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Camp Springs; Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3205, Alexandria, where she formerly held various offices including president; Kentucky Education Association; Kentucky Higher Education Association; and Valley Homemakers Club. She was one of many teachers who helped establish the Future Homemakers of America in Kentucky in 1945, and formerly served as a 4-H advisor.

Her husband, Robert Charles Knuehl, died in May.

Survivors include sons, Robert Timothy Knuehl of Melbourne and John Thomas "Tom" Knuehl of California; a daughter, Marietta Knuehl of Melbourne; and four grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, Camp Springs. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Mentor. Memorials are suggested to Anita O. Knuehl Scholarship Fund.

Charles Alexander Marshall, 80, of Mason County, died Sunday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. He was a farmer and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Maysville, where he was a deacon, an elder, and superintendent of the Sunday school.

He was a member of the Mason County Farm Bureau; Maysville Southern States Cooperative; Mason County Artificial Breeders Association; Huntington Milk Producers Association; the American Dairy Association of Kentucky; Kentucky Artificial Breeders Association - Select Sires; the Kentucky Council of Cooperatives; Kentucky Herd Improvement Association; Dairy Advisory Committee of the University of Kentucky; DeKalb Lodge; and the Sons of the Revolution. He was named as a distinguished alumnus of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture in 1988.

Survivors include his wife, Nell Jones Click Marshall; a son, Charles William Marshall of Maysville; a brother, Dr. James Paxton Marshall of Louisville; a sister, Linda Ruth Marshall Cohenour of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Maysville. Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Federal Hill in Washington, Ky. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, 21 W. Third St., Maysville, Ky., 41056; or the charity of the donor's choice. Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville, is handling arrangements.

Mary Hazel Snow, 75, of Warsaw, died at 11:45 p.m. Sunday at Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison, Ind. She was a homemaker and a member of Warsaw Baptist Church. Her husband, Charles Snow, preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Susan Kyle of Bedford and Muggsie Snow of Milton; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Warsaw Baptist Church, 106 W. High St., Warsaw, Ky., 41095; or American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky., 41042.

Arthur C. "Artie" Steinmetz, 19, of Edgewood, died in an auto accident at 7:46 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 27, 10 miles north of Somerset. He was a student at the University of Kentucky, and a defensive tackle on the UK football team. He transferred to the university from Michigan State University, where he also lettered in football. He was a graduate of Covington Catholic High School and was a member of the school's D.A.R.E. program.

Survivors include his parents, Marshall "Steve" and Therese Halenkamp Steinmetz of Edgewood; a brother, Matthew Steinmetz of Elsmere; and grandparents, Margaret Steinmetz of Independence, and Robert and Catherine Halenkamp of Lakeside Park.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Pius X. Church, Edgewood. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to Covington Catholic Scholarship Fund, 1600 Dixie Highway, Park Hills, Ky., 41011. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Eugene W. "Bill" Webb, 69, of Green Valley, Ariz., formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Oct. 9 at Columbia Northwest Medical Center in Tucson, Ariz. The Air Force veteran was a retired Teamster, a former maintenance supervisor with Quality Hotel Riverview in Covington, and a member of Walton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Webb; a daughter, Donna Sue Clifford of Cynthiana; a brother, Bob Webb of Elsmere; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services were Oct. 22 in Green Valley.

Arrangements: Green Valley Memorial Gardens.
