Louis Sizemore
Louis Sizemore, 77, of 4220 Pine St., New Boston, died at 10:32 p.m. Wednesday in Mercy Hospital where he was admitted at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
He was a retired employee of Detroit Steel Corp, Portsmouth Division.
Mr. Sizemore was born March 26, 1880, in Floyd County, Ky., a son of the late Richard and Polly Jane Salsbury Sizemore.
He was married to Mima Conley Nov. 16, 1901. Mrs. Sizemore preceded her husband in death in 1953.
Surviving are three sons, Orville, 5418 Gallia St., Morris of Beaver, Rt. 2 and John, 4220 Pine St. New Boston; two daughters, Mrs. Nell Lang of Dayton and Mrs. Nora Logan of Wheelersburg Rt. 2; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Grady Sizemore of Court St. and Joe Sizemore of Greenup, Ky. and six sisters, Mrs. Margaret Fraley of Wayne Hills, Mrs. Elizabeth Fraley of Boyne Falls, Mich., Mrs. Alma Tifany of Foster City, Mich., Mrs. Sadie Williams of Raceland, Ky., Mrs. Cora Hall of Floyd County, Ky., and Mrs. Vine Sexton of New Baltimore, Mich., also survive.
Mr. Sizemore was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter and son.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church on Pine St. in New Boston, where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Vaughn Sprunger will officiate. Interment will be in Wheelersburg cemetery under direction of Gill Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the home of the son, John, 4220 Pine St. after 5 p.m. today.

Marilee Sizemore, 61
Miss Marilee Dorinda Sizemore, 61, a former Stockdale area resident, died Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at Heartland of Portsmouth.
Born July 5, 1942, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late John H. and Agnes R. Yates Sizemore, she was a lifetime resident of this area. She was a resident of Heartland of Portsmouth and attended First Presbyterian Church in Portsmouth years ago.
She is survived by two nieces, Tara (Clarence Val) Lambert of Stockdale, Lori Mitchell of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one nephew, John Sizemore of Dallas, Texas; three grand-nieces, Devon Richard, Meghan Lambert, Margaret Gunn; and one great-nephew Jordan Lambert.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Michael L. Sizemore.
No services are planned.
Arrangements are under direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford.

Mrs. Carl Sizemore
Greenup, Ky. – Mrs. May Sizemore, 70 of Greenup, died Friday in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell after an extended illness.
Surviving are her husband Carl; a son Larry Tackett, and a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Skeen, both of Load, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Mayhew and Mrs. Betty Schmidts, both of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Load Enterprise Baptist Church, with interment in Nichols Cemetery.
Friends may call at Riggs Funeral Home in Greenup after 2 p.m. Sunday.

Mrs. Lewis Sizemore
In ill health for the last 15 years, Mrs. Mima Conley Sizemore, 73, wife of Lewis Sizemore, 4220 pine St., New Boston, died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday at Portsmouth General Hospital, where she was admitted Jan. 10.
A native of Kentucky, Mrs. Sizemore was born April 3, 1879, in Floyd County, a daughter of the late Jefferson and Sarah Ratcilff Conley. She was married to Mrs. Sizemore on Nov. 16, 1901, and had been a resident of this community since 1911.
Also surviving are three sons, Orville, at home and Morris and John, both of Stockdale; a daughter, Mrs. Nell Lang of Stockdale; a foster daughter, Mrs. Nora Logan of Sciotodale; a brother, William Conley of Charters; two sisters, Mrs. Lewis Smith, 1515 Fifth St. and Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Sciotodale; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents Mrs. Sizemore was preceded in death by a son, a daughter and two brothers.
She was a member of Emanual Baptist Church in New Boston, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. Owen J. Croy will officiate and burial will be in Wheelersburg cemetery under the direction of Gill Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the residence after 10 a.m. Friday.

Portsmouth Times, Monday, Mar. 13, 1978
Sizemore
Minford – Mrs. Perlina Sizemore, 72, of Railroad Hollow Rd., South Webster, Rt. 2, died early today at Oak Hill Hospital after two months illness.
A native of Greenup County, Ky., and a retired Collier’s Publishing Co. bookbinder, she had resided in Scioto County for 13 years. Mrs. Sizemore was a Methodist.
Surviving are three sons, Lewis A. of Glen Burnie, Md., and Richard and Harold, both of South Webster Rt. 2; two brothers, Owen English of South Shore, Ky., and Arthur English, Waller St., Portsmouth; three sisters, Mrs. Avis Van Bibber and Mrs. Margaret A. Locklin, both of South Portsmouth, Ky., and Mrs. Kate Stiers of Columbus, and five grandchildren.
Rev. Glenn Bobst is to conduct services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Erwin-Dodson Funeral Home, with burial in Collier Memorial Gardens at South Portsmouth.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Stokley Sizemore
Stokley Sizemore, 75, prominent Greenup county farmer and active Republican politician, died shortly before midnight Monday at his home at White Oak, Ky., of chronic nephritis. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Logan Sizemore and the following sons: Dennis and Perris, Mancelonia, Mich.; Marshall, Sam and Steven, Bennett, Ky., John, Raceland, Ky.; Carl, Firebrick, Ky., and the following brothers and sisters; George, Mrs. Anna McCoy and Mrs. Roselin Wampler, all of Portsmouth; William, Brady, Hiram and Mrs. Letitia Carr, Alcorn, Ky. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the home, Rev. Denbo Smith in charge. Burial in Cremeans cemetery, Undertaker L. G. Stapf, Greenup, Ky.

William Sizemore
William "Bill" Sizemore, 58 of Lincoln Ave., Greenup, died March 20 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, W. Va. He was employed by Armco Steel Corporation in the coating department, was a member of the United Steel Workers and was a World War II veteran with Army Air Corps.
Born Aug. 12, 1920, in Greenup County he was the son of the late Joe and Emily Gibson Sizemore.
He is survived by his wife Alliene Stewart Sizemore; three sons – Lawrence of South Point, Oh, Marvin of Raceland, Glen of U.S. Navy, Norflolk, Va.; three daughters – Mrs. Wilma Sigler of Springfield, Oh., Miss Mildred Sizemore of Greenup, Miss Jennie Sizemore at home; three brothers – Richard of Greenup, Ned, Edgar, both of Rt. 2 Greenup; sister Mrs. Ermina Cales of Rt.2, Greenup, four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 23 at the Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Edwards officiating.
Burial was in the Sizemore cemetery with the Wright Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Sloan, 1929
ANOTHER AGED LADY PASSES ON
Time has come and passed, the death angel has been busy seeking with its sickle that person whose time on earth has been spent, and whom God has seen fit to call to their reward, and on last Tuesday, June 4, visited at the home of Mrs. Eliza Jane Sloan, wife of Esbon Sloan, and called her to take up her abode in heaven with those who had gone on before her to dwell forever and forever.
Mrs. Eliza Jane Sloan was born March 25, 1843, and died June 4, 1929, at the ripe old age of 86 years, two months and ten days. She leaves three sons, Alvin, George and Baldwin Sloan; two daughters, Mrs. Francis Evans and Mrs. Matilda Evans; two brothers, J. P. Enix, of Missouri, and T. J. Enix, of Green Forest, Arkansas; two sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Hamilton, of Fitch and Mrs. A. Stamper of this city. Early in life she chose the road that leads to life everlasting, and in the days when she was and could be of service to her Maker she united with the Christian church, and from that day to the time she was called she rendered service for Him and lived a life of the Maker whose name is Christ Jesus. Her life was one of example and when followed will be a reward for those following.
The funeral services were conducted at the family cemetery near the old church on Flat Fork of Tygart Friday by Rev. May Reeder, after which, surrounded by a large crowd of friends who knew and loved her dearly, the remains were laid to rest.

Russell Woman Is Claimed After Years Illness
Mrs. Alpha Smith, 75, of West Russell, died at the home of a son, Paul Smith, Sunday after an illness of a year.
She was a native of Greenup County and was born Feb. 6, 1885, a daughter of the late Charlie and Harriett Peterson Mitchell.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lyda Creech, Barboursville, W. Va., and Mrs. Ruby Traylor of Lorado, W. Va., and another son, Frank Smith, Gilbert, Ky.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Raceland. Rev. James O. Childs officiated. Burial was in Rude Cemetery

Benjamin Preston Smith
Benjamin Preston Smith, aged 81 years and 4 months, died Tuesday morning at about 11 o'clock at the home of his son, James Smith, of Advance, Ky. after an illness of many months. He was one of the most prominent farmers of the Advance district and was widely known throughout the county. He has resided in that section practically all his life and was revered by his wide circle of acquaintances. He was a devout member of the Advance Methodist church and the funeral services will be held there Thursday morning with Rev. Carter in charge.
The deceased is survived by a wife and family of grown children. The children are Mrs. Maggie Bailey of Lynn, Ky.; Mrs. Laura Herdman of Columbus, O.; formerly of Ironton; John Smith of Russell, Ky.; James of Advance Ky.; Mrs. George Burgess of Russell, Ky.; Charles Smith of Chinnville, Ky.; Frank of Grayson, Ky.; Robert of Russell, Ky.; Joshua and Ezekiel, of Chinnville, Ky.

Charles Ellis Smith
Charles Ellis Smith was born 08 August 1882 in Whetstone. He married Sarah Artis. To this union were born six children:
Arthur Smith, Brooksville, FL, Paul Smith, Raceland, KY, Elmer Smith, Ironton, OH, Augusta Crum, Wurtland, KY, Helen Rose Tucker, Albany, GA and Pauline Warner, Columbus, OH.
Charles Smith lived in Russell, KY until he died at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital following an extended illness in 1969. He was retired from the C&O Railroad.
Surviving were 22 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church, Raceland, KY by Rev. Lee Gore and Rev. Frank Hopkins. The body was placed to rest at the Rude cemetery in Flatwoods, KY.

Rev. Denbo Smith
Greenup, Ky., -- Rev. Denbo Smith, 82, died Friday at the home of a son, Otis, in Wurtland.
A native of Greenup County, he preached for many years in the Leatherwood area.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virgie Allen Justice Smith; another son, Ballard of Columbus, Ohio; two stepsons, Edward Justice of Frankfort, Ohio and Glen Justice of Clarksburg, Ohio; four daughters, Mrs. Laura Brickey of West Portsmouth, Mr. Lola Darnell of South Shore, Mrs. Violet Palmerton of Columbus, and Mrs. Elbert Hoskins of Wurtland; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Russell Garrison of Chillicothe, Ohio; Mrs. Wallace Peters of Circleville, Ohio, Mrs. Dorothy Hyer of Clarksburg, and Mrs. Bernard Lee of Akron, Ohio; 33 grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are to be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Brushart Church at Leatherwood, with Rev. Hiram Logan officiating. Burial is to be in Parsons Cemetery.
Friends may call at Riggs Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
