Cecil "CJ" Overton, 76 of Brunswick passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Rolling Hills Health Care Center. He was born December 22, 1927 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Chris and Minnie (nee Kackley) Overton. He was a Trouble Shooter Technician for General Electric and a United States Army Veteran serving in WW II. CJ was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Berea. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Virginia (nee Bremer) Overton; children Greta (Charles) Weir of Roanke Indiana, Randal Overton, and Roger (Kathy) Overton both of Brunswick; brothers Delbert and R. Donald Overton; sister June Hurtley; grandchildren Ryan Weir, Alexis Overton, and Erika Overton. He was preceded in death by his son Jerel Overton and his parents. Friends may call on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Home, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick. Paul E. Braunns
Paul E. Braunns, 62, of Freedom Twp. passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 22, 2004 at his residence. Born Dec. 27, 1941 in Cortland to the late Edward A. and Mary E. (Wick) Braunns, he was employed as a lead person at Cantex Plastic Extruders in Aurora. Paul loved hunting and horses and he was a "jack-of-all trades." He is survived by his wife, Opal (Hanna) Braunns of Freedom, whom he married March 31, 1979; sons, Deral (Beverly) White and David White, of Freedom; daughters, Sherry White of Freedom, Jean (Steve) Fackler of Nelson, Lillian (Steve) Brown of Warren and Paula (Doug) Genova of Munroe Falls; brothers, Merle (Kitty) Braunns of Andover, Pearl (Bobbie) Braunns of Alma, Arkansas, and Robert (Gloria) Braunns of Deerfield; sisters, Sandra (Kenneth) Pontius of Lake Milton, Shirley (Gary) Back of Girard and Gwen (Buddy) Hornof of Deerfield; 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 25, 2004 from 5-8 p.m. at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville. Prayers with Rev. John Ryan will be at 8:00 P.M.

Glenn R. Strasser
Glenn R. Strasser, 90 of Brunswick passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at Southwest Hospice Center in Strongsville. He was born May 16, 1914 in Cleveland to Stephen and Mae (nee Tucek) Strasser. He was a cloth inspector for Joseph Fiess Company; in his youth he was a Feather Weight Golden Gloves champ, an avid gardener, a charter member of the Original City Homing Club, and former member of Zion United Church of Christ, W 14th Street, Cleveland. He is survived by his wife Rose (nee Marincic) Strasser; children Rollen Strasser (dear friend Sarah Adams), Dale (Susan) Strasser, Glenda (Roger) Tichinel, Denise (Robert) Stands, and Darlene (Allen) Preiss; sister Leona Pletz; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his daughter Nancy Benda, his parents, and daughter-in-law Ruth Strasser. Friends may call on Sunday, October 24, 2004 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Home, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick. Melody Hardin
Melody D. Hardin, 18 of Medina passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2004. She was born September 11, 1986 in Austin, Texas to Donald Lee and Katherine (nee Seidner) Hardin. She was a 2004 graduate of Highland High School and a student at Kent State University, Stark Branch. Melody is survived by her parents; brother Nick; and grandmother Ruth Seidner. Fred Reichelderfer, Jr.
Fred Reichelderfer, Jr., 74, of Garrettsville, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 29, 1929 in Tamaqua, Pa. From 1962 to 2002, he was the owner of The Brick Tavern in Garrettsville, home of the famous "Freddyburger." He was an avid fisherman and coin collector. He was a "pool shark" and frequently took casino trips, enjoying all table games, especially Black Jack. He enjoyed people and his patrons at his beloved Brick Tavern. He is survived by his former wife, Joanne Viets; son, Danny of Cleveland; daughters, Brenda (Frank) Nedelka of Garrettsville, Susie (Dennis) Gargiulo of Euclid; sister, Beverly (John) Porter of Garrettsville; sister-in-law, Jean Reichelderfer; and grandchildren, Matt and Denny Gargiulo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred V. and Edythe (Dally) Reichelderfer, Sr. and brother, Jack. Visitation will be on Saturday Oct. 23, 2004 from 2-5 P.M. with a Memorial Service beginning at 5 P.M. at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Oh. 44231. James "Jim" Kovach
James "Jim" Kovach, 70 of Lore City Ohio passed away on Monday, October 18, 2004 at his residence. He was born May 17, 1934 in Cleveland to Joseph and Anna (nee Lang) Kovach. He was an autoworker for General Motors. Jim is survived by his wife Mary (nee Ptak) Kovach; children Barbara (Lawrence) Lichniak, Beverly (Jay) Tetlak, James (Sherrie) Kovach, David Kovach, Donald (Georgia) Kovach, Frank (Jackie) Kovach, Ken (Julie) Kovach, Mike (Stacie) Kovach, and Steve (Connie) Kovach; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. John E. Hannah, 53 of Brunswick Hills passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at DePaul Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. He was born March 24, 1951 in Montgomery, West Virginia to Calvin and Betty (nee Miller) Hannah. He was Maintenance Supervisor at the Department of Corrections. John is survived by his wife Joan (nee Lowe) Hannah; children David (Vicki) Hannah and Donna (Craig) Pettry; mother Betty Hannah; grandchildren Alexx Deem, Christopher Deem, Stephanie Hannah, and Stacie Hannah; sister Pam (Gary) Barrera; and brothers Ricky Hannah and Ronald (Sheila) Hannah. He was preceded in death by his father Calvin Hannah. Robert C. Gray
Robert C. Gray, 70, of Garrettsville, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at his residence, following a lengthy illness. Born July 20, 1933 in Bellville, Illinois, he served in the U.S. Air Force in sales at a Food Distribution facility. He was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Panellas, Florida. He enjoyed going to Flea Markets and woodcrafting. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Keiper) Gray; sons, Robert Gray, Gary Gray and Michael Gray, all of Tampa; William Zima of Gastonia, N.C., Jeffrey Zima of Baltimore, Maryland and Adam Zima of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughters, Regina Haller and Kimberly Zima of Marietta, Georgia; brothers, Dennis Templeton of Georgia and William Templeton of Florida; and six grandchildren. Calling hours are Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 from 6-8 P.M. at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Fueral Home, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 A.M.

Kathleen West
Hiram - Kathleen May West, 81, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004 following a short period of declining health. She was a 10-year breast cancer survivor. Born May 32, 1923 in Hendon, England, she was the daughter of Thomas and Annie W. Brown. The former Kathleen Brown met her husband-to-be during WWII while he was stationed with the U.S. Army Air Force near her home town of Bedford, England. They were married April 26, 1944. Following the war, Mrs. West joined her husband in America courtesy of the U.S. Army, arriving at Newcomerstown, Ohio on Feb. 20, 1946. She became a proud naturalized U.S. Citizen on her birthday in 1957. Mrs. West was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. During the last 20 years of her life, she crocheted an average of 25 lap robes each year and donated them at Christmastime to the Portage County Nursing Home and Longmeadow Care Center to be given to long-term residents. Her daughter, Marilynn (Paul) Szabo of Mantua, granddaughter, Jennifer (Rick) Packo of Garrettsville, grandson, Scott Baisden of Texas and her sister, Olive Harris of Bedford, England, survive Mrs. West. She was preceded in death on 07/25/04 by her husband of 60 years, Leonard L. West and on 03/03/03 by her daughter, Virginia L. Baisden. The family invites friends to join them for Graveside Services at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at Fairview cemetery in Hiram with the Rev. Robert Bowen officiating. Jennifer Sulenski
Jennifer L. Sulenski, 19 of Medina passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2004. She was born February 26, 1985 in Medina to Eugene and Linda (nee Crigger) Sulenski and was a student at Medina High School. She won several awards at rhe Medina County Fair, enjoyed working with flowers, and liked to draw pictures for people. Jennifer is survived by her parents; brother Daniel; sisters Jessica and Erica; grandmother Carol Hawk; grandparents Henry & Jean Crigger; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandpa Eugene Hawk. Carl E. "Jack" Hawk
Carl E. "Jack" Hawk, 72 of Medina passed away on Monday, October 18, 2004 at the Inn at Medina Hospice Unit. He was born December 28, 1931 in Scotteale, Pennsylvania to Howard R. and Olive M. (nee Lint) Hawk. He was co-owner of J.O. Construction Co. and Buckeye Sewer & Road. He was a lifetime member of Operator's Union Local #18. He is survived by his wife Romaine (nee Taylor) Hawk; sons Donald R. (Gail) Hawk, Jack Hawk, Timothy Hawk, and Carl Eugene (Donna) Taylor; brothers Raymond (Edith) Hawk and Ronald (Helen) Hawk; sister Loraine Hawk; grandchildren Denise, Donna, Donald, Jack, Deborah, Stephanie, and Kevin; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Ronald Eugene Hawk; and daughter Deborah Thompson. He was Former Owner, Gardener, and Sales Representative for Skoll Supply Company. He is survived by his wife Madeline Skoll; children Vincent Skoll, Lisa (Scott) Brandt, and Theresa (Michael) Ewald; sister Arlinen Skoll; and grandson Chuck Pedro Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents and half-brother Albert Skoll. John Krupla
John R. Krupla, 92 of Brunswick passed away on Friday, October 15, 2004 at Medina General Hospital. He was born May 9, 1912 in Parma to John and Sophia (nee Nagy) Krupla. He was a mechanic retiring from Cleveland Metal Products Company and attended Brunswick United Methodist Church. He is survived by his children Betty Lee (Charles) Banevich; Beverly (Larry) Metheney; and Glenna (Steven) Cika; grandchildren Sylvia (Keith) Simak, Steven Cika Jr., Kathryn (Justin) Hunt, Jonathan (Renee') List, Charles (Tricia) List Jr., Kimberly (Roger) Bayes, Larry (Stacy) Metheney Jr., and Sheri (Joe) Metheney; and great-grandchildren Myranda, Savannah, Katerina, Johnathan Jr., and Olivia. John was crippled at the age of 10 but never let his handicaps keep him from working to raise his family. Born Sept. 29, 1917 in Parkman, Ohio, she was an assembler at Picker International in Highland Hts. for over 40 years. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Jerkovitz of Chagrin Falls; sisters, Kate Moore of Hiram and Elizabeth Beery of Garrettsville; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
