George 'Ab' Ryan, 81, former mayor of Walton

George "Ab" Ryan, 81, of Walton, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

He was a former Walton mayor, and the former owner of Shamrock Inn, Ryan Brothers Restaurant, Ryan Hardware and Drygoods, Ryan Hardware and Implement, Steve's Pub and Ryan Lawn and Garden.

He was a member of All Saints Church in Walton, where he was a member of the parish council, its building and finance committees.

He was a former Walton city councilman, a former Boone County magistrate and former president of the Boone County Democratic Party executive committee. His wife, Betty Klefken Ryan, died in 2003. A daughter, Debbie Ryan Rich, died in 1994.

Survivors include a son, G. Russell Ryan of Walton; and three grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Verona. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Academy, 48 Needmore St., Walton, Ky. 41094.

Mark A. Seeger, 47, fire department captain

Mark Seeger had 40 multi-colored roses sent to his wife, Dawn, last week for her 40th birthday.

"That's just the type of guy he was, " Mrs. Seeger said.

Mark A. Seeger, 47, of Alexandria, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

Mrs. Seeger said her husband was thoughtful and generous. She said he introduced himself to a new neighbor a few days ago and volunteered to help him install a swimming pool.

"He would do anything for anybody, " she said.

Mr. Seeger was a captain of the Bellevue-Dayton Fire Department. He started with the former Bellevue Fire Department nearly 30 years ago.

"He loved the fire department, " Mrs. Seeger said.

Mr. Seeger also was a member of the Kentucky Professional Firefighters Association Local No. 3751.

Mrs. Seeger said her husband of nine years loved his family and his two Labradors.

"They were like children to him, " she said. "Spoiled rotten."

In addition to his wife, survivors include a stepson, Dan Hurrelbrink of Alexandria; his mother, Betty Seeger of Bellevue; and a brother, Michael Seeger of Fort Meyers, Fla.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Divine Mercy Church, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Kentucky Professional Firefighters Association Local No. 3751, in care of the Bellevue Dayton Fire Department, 616 Poplar St., Bellevue, Ky. 41073.

Wood Bailey, 88, of Louisville, died Saturday at Hospice and Palliative Care, Louisville. He was a retired machine operator with Browning's EPT, Maysville, and a member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church in Crestwood. He was a former member of Washington United Methodist Church, Maysville. His first wife, Josie Lee Bailey, died in 1981. A son, Gary Allen Bailey, died in 1981.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Dilley Pack Bailey; a daughter, Wanda Bradley of Helena; stepsons, Bill Preston of Maysville and Don Pack of Crestwood; a stepdaughter, Sue Sharp of Louisville; brothers, Calvin Bailey of Maysville and Charles Bailey of Manchester; sisters, Phoebe Coffey of Maysville and Ruth Litzinger of Augusta; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Washington Baptist Cemetery, Maysville.

Katherine M. Bernitt, 77, of Crescent Springs, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs.

Survivors include her husband, James E. Bernitt; daughters, Virginia Reckers of Independence, Theresa Ernst of Erlanger, Christina McIntyre of Elsmere and Kimberly Yoest of Warsaw; brothers, Louis Mazes of Cincinnati George Mazes of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Alex Sarros and Arty Thomaskos, both of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Linda Sue Callahan, 58, of Arthur, Tenn., formerly of Ludlow, died Friday at St. Mary Medical Center, LaFollette, Tenn.

She was a member of Citizens Bank of Harogate, Tenn., and a member of Tazewell Church of Christ, New Tazewell, Tenn.

Survivors include her husband, Rev James R. Callahan; daughters, Kelly Roether of Findlay, Ohio, Kimberly Wyatt of Elsmere and Kara Schulte of Erlanger; her father and stepmother, Homer and Judy Baker of Wildwood, Fla.; a sister, Patricia Baker of Florence; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Vivian Emma DeMoss Craft, 93, of Newport, died Wednesday at Villaspring Care Center, Erlanger.

She was a homemaker and a member of Northern Kentucky Senior Citizens, where she started a sewing class. During World War II, she sewed baseballs for various teams.

Her husband, Thomas C. Craft, died in 1985.

Survivors include daughters, Catherine Wells of Covington and Joyce Moore of Denver; a son, Delbert Thomas Craft of Denver; a sister, Cynthia Goble of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Association for the Blind, 2045 Gilbert Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45202.

Bernard John Lehmkuhl, 82, of Erlanger, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

He was a truck driver and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella Ruth Lehmkuhl; sons, Bernard R. Lehmkuhl of Hollywood, Fla., John Henry Lehmkuhl of Burlington and James Martin Lehmkuhl of Erlanger; daughters, Carol Trimble of Villa Hills, Barbara Jo Palmer of Erlanger, Deborah Ann Kidd of Crittenden and Teresa Ray Cook of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Pius X Church, 348 Dudley Road, Edgewood, Ky. 41017.

Greenieo Prather, 68, of Jonesville, died Saturday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Hudnall Prather; sons, Gary Prather of Burlington, Mike Prather and Roger Prather, both of Owenton; daughters, Ruth Ann Gray of Owenton, Norma Greenwell of Glencoe and Beverly Blackburn of Perry Park; sisters, Louise Brown of Middletown, Ohio, and Betty Davis of Jonesville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald & New Funeral Home, Main Street location, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton. Memorials are suggested to the family, in care of McDonald & New Funeral Home, 248 W. Seminary St., Owenton, Ky. 40359.

Margaret Farrell Ryan, 83, of Ludlow, died Thursday at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C.

She was a homemaker and a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow. Her husband, George E. Ryan, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Ryan of Charlotte; daughters, Patricia Ann Ryan and Sheila Ryan Williamson, both of Charlotte; a brother, Robert Farrell of Ludlow; a sister, Mary Hillenmeyer of Brooksville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial was this morning at Sts. James and Boniface Church. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Suite 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling arrangements.

Lois E. Sherlock, 78, of Bellevue, died Thursday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.

She was a homemaker, a volunteer with the Guild for the Mentally Retarded in Northern Kentucky and a member of the Campbell County Bridge Club. Her husband, Robert C. "Whitey" Sherlock, died Feb. 12.

Survivors include daughters, Susan L. Knasel of Fort Mitchell and Nancy L. Sherlock of Dayton; a son, Steven L. Sherlock of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Services for both Mrs. and Mr. Sherlock will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Kathy Smith Spaulding, 62, of Falmouth, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

She was a member of Butler Christian Church. Her husband, Lloyd "Bud" Spaulding, and sons, Lloyd "Chipper" Spaulding and Christopher Scott Spaulding, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Shanda Nguyen of Blanchester, Ohio; a sister, Mary Wanda Ammerman of Butler; a brother, Tony Smith of Butler; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Butler Christian Church, 111 High St., Butler, Ky. 41006.

Anne Sullivan, 55, of Cincinnati, formerly of Independence, died Saturday at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.

Christopher Allen Tanner, 36, of Flemingsburg, died Saturday at his home.

He was a self-employed auto mechanic.

Survivors include a daughter, Jerrica Kay Bloomfield of Flemingsburg; a sister, Charlotte Wagner of Flemingsburg; a brother, Robbie Tanner of Flemingsburg; and grandmother, Elizabeth McDaniel of Maysville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Charter Oak Cemetery, Aberdeen, Ohio.

Mary Elizabeth Voss, 91, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Florence, died Thursday at Abington of Arlington, Columbus.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a great-nephew, Douglas Huge, and great-niece, April Reece, both of Burlington.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
