Carol Ann Stamper had 'a natural caring about people'

Carol Ann Stamper wasn't even five feet tall, but she made a big impression.

"She adopted everybody, " said a friend, Mahala Gilene of Cold Spring.

"She had a natural caring about people and a way of meeting a person and turning them into friends. I don't think she ever met a person she didn't like."

Her husband, Eddie Cheesman, said she had six children of her own and 18 grandchildren.

"But every young person who knew her called her Mom, " he said.

"She was a small woman, but it's a big loss to me."

Mrs. Stamper died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center north.

She was 50.

A homemaker, her survivors include three daughters, Trina List of Lafollette, Tenn., and Shay Jackson and Nancy List, both of Covington; Jay Ross of Glenco, and Joey List and Daniel List, both of Covington; a sister, Brenda Wolfe of Covington; four brothers, Richard Wolfe of Richwood, Gary Wolfe of Hebron, and Kenny and James Wolfe, both of Covington, and 18 grandchildren.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Monday at Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home, 313 W. 19th St., Covington. Services will start at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.

Mildred M. Bethge, 96, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Southgate, died Thursday at Northside Hospital, St. Petersburg, Fla.

She was a homemaker. Her husband, Walter Bethge, and her daughter, Betty Schmidt, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Edward Maschindt of Franklin, Ohio, James Maschindt of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Robert Maschindt of Kentucky; a stepson, Robert Bethge of Cincinnati; a stepdaughter, Beverly Winkler of Hamilton, Ohio; and a sister, Adele Frye of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Ruth C. Kopp Beyer, 71, of Cincinnati, formerly of Ocala, Fla., died Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.

She was a retired salesperson from Mead Corporation, Cincinnati.

Survivors include her husband, George S. Beyer; a sister, Dot Dale of Cincinnati; and a brother, William Kopp of Alexandria.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Divine Mercy Parish, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Linda Callahan, of New Tazewell, Tenn., formerly of Covington, died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital, Knoxville, Tenn.

Arrangements are pending with Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow.

Elizabeth Thomas Cassidy, 83, of Burlington, died Wednesday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence.

She was an employee of Cincinnati Bell Telephone. Her husband, Drenan Hurst Cassidy, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Robert Cassidy of Nicholasville; sisters, Frances Williams of Flemingsburg and Mary Lois Larr of Holland, Mich.; and four grandchildren.

Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Elizaville Cemetery.

Denton-Workman Funeral Home, Flemingsburg, is handling arrangements.

Rashell Dawn Dixon, 7 weeks, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth North Hospital, Covington.

Survivors include her parents, Rickey and Tina Pike Dixon; brothers, Matthew Craddock and Justin Craddock, both of Covington; sisters, Amber Atwood, Subrina Craddock, and Brandi Pike, all of Covington; paternal grandfather, Rick Dixon of Crocker, Mo.; paternal grandmother, Larrene Cook of Corbin; and maternal grandmother, Cheryl Pressel of Covington.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery.

Frances Berkshire Keim, 96, of Latonia, died Thursday at her residence.

She was a homemaker and a member of Petersburg Christian Church, Petersburg. A son, Pete Keim, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Edward Keim of Vero Beach, Fla.; daughters, Jean Keim Perry and Marlene Hellmann, both of Latonia, and Lana DeLuca of Fort Mitchell; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Don R. King, 67, of Elsmere, died Wednesday at his home.

He was a retired brakeman with CSX Railroad. His wife, Shirley House King, preceded him in death.

Survivors include sons, Tony King of Elsmere, Billy Ray King of Cincinnati, and Kelly King of Crescent Springs; daughters, Donna King Hogeback of Cincinnati and Kimberlee King of Florence; a brother, Robert King of Louisville; a sister, Shirley Haley of Newport; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. today at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Ardell Hafer Plessinger, 88, of Fort Wright, died Wednesday at Wesley Hall Care Center, Cincinnati.

She was a homemaker and a member of Ludlow Senior Citizens.

Survivors include her husband, James C. Plessinger; a son, James Plessinger of Richmond; daughters, Nancy Ziegler of Alexandria, Va., and Peggy Young of Fort Wright; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger.

Margaret Farrell Ryan, 83, of Ludlow, died Thursday at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C.

Arrangements are pending with Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.

Neveah Rane Smith, 4 days, daughter of Rob Smith and Tasya Kennedy, both of Covington, died Tuesday at Children's Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati.

Other survivors include a sister, Skii Smith of Covington; grandparents, Kim Esposito of Latonia, David Battaglia of Taylor Mill, Harold and Holli Collins of Taylor Mill; and great-grandparents, William and Grace Centers of Erlanger, Rev. Harry Collins of Mississippi, Carolyn Collins of Fort Wayne, Ind., Ronald Stephens of Taylor Mill, Laura Hunt of Crescent Springs and Sandra Denham of Covington.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Liney Rogers Stich, 93, of Cincinnati, died Friday at Mercy Anderson Hospital, Cincinnati.

She was a retired server from Habig's Restaurant, Cincinnati. Her husband, Melvin Stich, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Melvin Stich of Cincinnati; daughters, Carol Magee of Covington and Coray Sweet of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Flat Gap Baptist Church Cemetery, Berea. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bolton & Lunsford Funeral Home, Cincinnati.

Paul J. Weindel, 87, of Cincinnati, formerly of Covington, died Wednesday at Mercy Franciscan Hospital, Cincinnati.

He was a retired inspector for Leibel Flarsheim, Cincinnati, and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Mullen Weindel; a son, Paul G. Weindel of Dayton, Ohio; a daughter, Sharon Middendorf of Cincinnati; and four grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Cincinnati. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cincinnati.

Memorials are suggested to St. Teresa Memorial Fund, 1175 Overlook Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45238.

Meyer & Geiser Funeral Home, Cincinnati, is handling the arrangements.

Walter H. Wientjes, 82, of Highland Heights, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth South Hospital, Edgewood.

He was a retired field service agent from Cincinnati Milacron. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring, and the church's Mariner's Club.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Dreiss Wientjes; sons, Gary Wientjes of Morehead and Rick Wientjes of Burlington; daughters, Pam Smith, Sue Grossheim, and Janie Hazen, all of Alexandria; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., Suite 102, West Chester, Ohio 45069.
