George Oetjen, owner of Newport Auto Sales

George William Oetjen Jr., 83, of Edgewood, retired president and owner of Newport Auto Sales, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.

He was a member of the Newport Rotary Club, a past president of the Newport Optimists and a past lieutenant governor of Optimist International.

His wife, Jeanne Rohmiller Oetjen, died in 1974.

"He was a person who loved people, especially children, and pets, " said Ava Lee of Edgewood, Mr. Oetjen's friend and caregiver for the past 11 years. "He volunteered to work with handicapped children.

"He used to stutter but was able to stop. After that, he was called on to go to meetings to help other people stop stuttering."

Mr. Oetjen also was an avid bowler.

"He was a very loving person, " said Mrs. Lee. "Anyone who met him liked him because he loved helping people."

Survivors include sons, Wayne Oetjen and Gary Oetjen, both of Cincin-nati, and Greg Oetjen of Fort Thomas; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Church United Church of Christ in Fort Thomas.

Burial will be in St. Stephen cemetery in Fort Thomas.

Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home of Fort Thomas is handling arrangements.

Everett G. Bottorff, 102, of Clarksville, Ind., died Friday at Westminster Healthcare Center, Clarksville. He was a retired insurance salesman with Prudential Insurance Co. and a member of Wall Street United Methodist Church in Jeffersonville, Ind.

Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Nienaber of Fort Wright; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon EDT Tuesday at Scott Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville. Memorials are suggested to Wall Street United Methodist Church, 240 Wall St., Jeffersonville, Ind. 47130.

Elizabeth J. Brady, 99, of Covington, died Saturday at Anderson Mercy Hospital, Cincinnati.

Arrangements are pending at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.

Madge E. Dolwick, 86, of Hebron, died Saturday at Villaspring Health Care Center, Erlanger.

Arrangements are pending at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron.

Mary L. Frederick, 77, of Robertson County, died Sunday at Robertson County Health Care Center, Mount Olivet. She was a retired factory worker.

Survivors include brothers, Lebus Frederick of Robertson County and Willie A. Frederick of Bracken County; and a sister, Ethel Shepherd of Mount Olivet.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Robertson County Funeral Home, Mount Olivet. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Kentontown Cemetery.

Douglas E. Hill, 54, of Florence, died at 10:35 p.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a veteran of both the Navy and Marine Corps.

Survivors include his parents, Charles and Frieda Hill of Aiken, S.C.; a brother, Timothy Hill of West Chester, Ohio; and a sister, Linda Hill of Florence.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere, is handling arrangements.

Danny Holt, 64, of Burlington, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a retired factory worker with Litton Industries. His wife, Brady Ann Holt, died in 1999.

Survivors include sons, Darrell Holt of Burlington and Dennis Holt of Bowling Green; sisters, Norma Mickey Jones of Independence and Lorena Mae Mashuda of Zelienople, Pa.; and a grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at noon Tuesday. Burial will be in Burlington Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Rose A. Venezia Iannello, 99, of Independence, died Saturday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of Christ, Burlington. Her husband, Frank C. Iannello, died in 1978.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Iannello Lawrence of Independence; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Fairhaven Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 761, Covington, Ky. 41012.

Esther Kelley, 75, of Covington, died at 7:04 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a retired registered nurse with St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Margaret Merrill of Covington, nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Cathedral Foundation, 1140 Madison Ave., Covington, Ky. 41011. Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona, is handling arrangements.

Leslie "Dick" Maher, 76, of Maysville, died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday at Clermont Mercy Hospital, Batavia, Ohio. He was a retired maintenance worker with Maysville Extended Care Center, Maysville, and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Rosemary Maher, died in 2001.

Survivors include daughters, Cathy Keaton of Leesburg, Ohio, and Leslie Ann Bacigalupo of Miami; a son, Jody L. Maher of Maysville; a stepson, Grover Cleveland "Clevie" Smith of New Richmond, Ohio; a sister, Betty Purdon of Maysville; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brell & Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Maysville.

Donald W. McMillen, 75, of Independence, died Friday at his home. He was a retired supervisor with Cincinnati Bell and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Taylor Mill and the Telephone Pioneers. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher with Oak Ridge Baptist Church, and was a former superintendent of the junior department of First Baptist Church of Ludlow.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Moore McMillen; sons, Clark McMillen of McKinney, Texas, and David McMillen of Taylor Mill; brothers, William McMillen of Covington and Jack McMillen of Ludlow; sisters, Kathy Henry of Ludlow and Jean Padgett of Fort Wright; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Home Health Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Pamela Gay Stephens Nasiopoulos-Russell, 53, of Glencoe, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Tommy Russell; a daughter, Daisy Henson of Williamstown; her mother, Edith Reed Stephens of Indiana; a sister, Peggy Rosenstiel of Brooksville; and two granddaughters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Aurora, Ind. Memorials are suggested to Pam Nasiopoulos-Russell Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 130, Williamstown, Ky. 41097.

Virginia Lamn Reffitt, 86, of Verona, died at 4:50 p.m. Friday at Villaspring Health Care Center, Erlanger. She was a retired sales clerk with J.C. Penney Co., Covington, and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Verona. Her husband, Elmer Earl Reffitt, died in 1982. Sons, James Ronald Reffitt and Fred E. Reffitt, died in 1975 and 2000, respectively.

Survivors include grandsons, Danny Reffitt of Verona, Mike Reffitt of Covington and Scott Reffitt of Independence; a granddaughter, Becky Killion of Ludlow; 12 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will begin there at noon Tuesday. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona.

Homer Ray Richie Jr., 70, of Corinth, died Saturday at his home. He was an Air Force veteran, and a member of Disabled American Veterans and Corinth Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Barb Ritchie; his mother, Nora True of Corinth; sisters, Alice Anna Connor of Forrest City, N.C., Mary Elizabeth Wilson of Corinth and Sue Dickerson of Nicholasville; and brothers, Lee Richie of Versailles, Thomas Richie of Williamsburg and David Richie of Berry.

Graveside services will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Raven Creek Cemetery, Harrison County. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 508 E. Pike St., Cynthiana, Ky. 41031. Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry, is handling arrangements.

Lisa Anne Goetz Sand, 48, of Union, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Timothy Church in Union and a former member of the Boone County Jaycees.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Sand; a daughter, Emily Sand of Florence; a son, Matt Sand of Union; her mother, Dorothy Farrar Goetz of Florence; and a brother, Vernon Goetz of Villa Hills.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Timothy Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Raymond Vettel, 66, of Sardinia, Ohio, formerly of Northern Kentucky, died at 3:29 p.m. Thursday at Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia, Ohio. He was a retired owner of Vettel-Brown Diamond and Gold Co., Cincinnati, and a former employee of Zeffs Jewelers.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce E. Vettel; stepsons, Donald Ross of Covington and Martin Ross of Las Vegas; a brother, Robert Vettel of Cincinnati; a sister, Shirley Naro of Cincinnati; and two step-granddaughters.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Kidney Foundation, 2330 Victory Parkway East, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206.

Linda Mitchell White, 55, of Corinth, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a school bus monitor with the Grant County Board of Education.

Survivors include her husband, John Harold White; a daughter, Tammy Mitchell of Canton, N.Y.; sons, Steve Mitchell of Vermont, Shawn Mitchell of Mesina, N.Y., Travis Mitchell of Winchester and Mark Monroe of Corinth; a stepdaughter, Crystal White of Corinth; her mother, Geraldine Conklin of Potsdam, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Conklin of Parisville, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Linda White Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 130, Williamstown, Ky. 41097.
