Lucy Petesch
1918-1999
ATCHISON, Kan. -- Lucy (Bluma) Petesch, 80, Atchison, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at her residence.
For over 30 years, Mrs. Petesch was a bar tacker for the Saunder's Manufacturing Co. in Atchison until retiring in 1984.
Born on a farm in Oak Mills, Kan., on Dec. 19, 1918, she was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Atchison. She was a former member of St. John's Catholic Church in Doniphan, Kan.
On Sept. 16, 1935, she married John F. Petesch in Leavenworth, Kan. He died in 1986.
Mrs. Petesch also was preceded in death by two sons, Larry D. and Kenneth; a daughter, Shirley Clark; her parents, Adam and Lillie Bluma; and a brother, Charlie Bluma.
Surviving: two sons, Dennis, Oskaloosa, Kan., and John, Atchison; two daughters, Connie Beeson and Rose Wigley, both of Atchison; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Prayer service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Atchison. Family visitation: one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Atchison County Retarded Citizens Association or the Atchison Humane Society.

Violet A. Price
1905-1999
BETHANY, Mo. -- Violet Audrey Price, 93, Bethany, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at a Bethany health-care center.
Born in Harrison County, Mo., on April 20, 1905, Mrs. Price lived in Cainsville, Mo., from 1919 until moving to Bethany in 1997.
A homemaker, she was a member of the First Christian Church in Cainsville.
In 1942, she married Glen Price in Princeton, Mo. He survives of the home.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday, First Christian Church, Cainsville. Burial: Akron Cemetery, Cainsville. Visitation: noon to 5 p.m. today at the Bethany Memorial Chapel, Bethany, and family visitation: noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church.

William A. Rich
1915-1999
SUBLIMITY, Ore. -- William Antonio Rich, 83, Sublimity, formerly of Savannah, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at a health-care center in Sublimity.
Mr. Rich owned and operated the Rich Funeral Home in Savannah from 1945 to 1960. He was employed at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in California from 1940 to 1945, and for several years after returning to California in 1960. He also worked for the Treadway & Wigger Funeral Chapel in Napa, Calif., for many years until retiring.
Born in Daville, Ill., on Oct. 28, 1915, he lived in the Midwest before 1960. He resided in Savannah from 1945 until moving to Napa in 1960 and Salem, Ore., in 1991.
Mr. Rich served in the Navy from 1936 to 1940. He was a member of the Napa County Council of the Navy League, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Bodies, all of Napa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Kathleen Travis, in 1984; and his parents, James and Ruby.
Surviving: a daughter, Susan Darby, Salem; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The graveside service and burial were held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the Tulocay Cemetery in Napa. Arrangements were by the Treadway & Wigger Funeral Home of Napa. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers research or a charity of the donor's choice.

Loren A. Swihart
1919-1999
CHILLICOTHE, Mo. -- Loren A. "Abie" Swihart, 79, Chillicothe, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at the hospital in Brookfield, Mo.
Mr. Swihart, born in Seneca, Mo., on July 27, 1919, was a heavy equipment mechanic for Cook Sales in Chillicothe.
During World War II, he served in the Air Force. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
On May 2, 1963, he married Theresa Danahy. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by a son, Loren C.; his parents, Joshua S. and Bertha A.; and two sisters, Lora E. Price and Yula M. Wallace.
Additional survivors: a stepdaughter, Diana Swihart, Chicago; a brother, Cletus, St. Joseph; six sisters, Dicy M. Weitzel, Chillicothe, D. Ruth Adamczyk, Warrensburg, Mo., Ruby Logan, Noble, Okla., Zana Price, St. Joseph, Retha Logan, Moore, Okla., and LaVeta Paustian, Chillicothe; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Baptist Church, Meadville, Mo. Burial: Meadville Cemetery. Visitation: after 1 p.m. Friday at the Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Meadville, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Dorine E. Vencill
1916-1999
GALT, Mo. -- Dorine E. (Hamilton) Vencill, 82, Galt, formerly of St. Joseph, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at a hospital in Covina, Calif. She was living with her son in California while being treated for cancer.
Born Nov. 11, 1916, in Galt, Mrs. Vencill was a graduate of Galt High School.
On May 18, 1936, she married Richard S. Vencill in Troy, Kan. He survives in Trenton, Mo.
After their marriage, they lived in Galt before moving to St. Joseph. They later moved to Rifle, Colo., where they operated a motel. In 1940, the couple moved to California, where she worked in the payroll department for Northrup Aircraft Corp. for 23 years. The Vencills returned to Galt in 1972 after retiring.
Mrs. Vencill was a member of the Galt Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Grace Hamilton; and a grandchild.
Additional survivors: two sons, Richard H., Galt, and Ronald, Covina; two brothers, Bob Hamilton, Springfield, Ore., and Dale Hamilton, Trenton; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Sunday, Payne Funeral Home, Galt. Burial: Galt West Cemetery. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Patsy A. Wise
1938-1999
Patsy A. Wise, 60, St. Joseph, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at her residence.
Born in Winchester, Kan., on Sept. 11, 1938, Ms. Wise was a resident of St. Joseph since 1984.
A homemaker, she attended the Family Worship Center.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Renken; and a sister, Barbara Mitchell.
Surviving: a daughter, Norma Shumate, Winfield, Kan.; two brothers, Kenneth Renken, St. Joseph, and Raymond Peden, Clarinda, Iowa; four sisters, Earlene Johnson, St. Joseph, Margie Wilkerson, Dodge City, Kan., Lois Yates, Atchison, Kan., and Donna Church, Phoenix; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Service: 10 a.m. Friday, Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Burial: Sunset Memory Cemetery, Atchison. Visitation: after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight.

Virgil R. Wright
1910-1999
AGENCY, Mo. -- Virgil R. Wright, 88, Agency, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Born in Agency on May 24, 1910, Mr. Wright lived in the Agency area all his life. He graduated from Agency High School and was a member of the Agency Baptist Church.
He retired from the Missouri State Highway Department.
In 1958, he married Gladys Ashler in King City, Mo. She survives of the home.
Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hattie; three brothers, Robert, Earl and Fester; and three sisters, Dorothy Kabel, Marie Holt and Mary Cox.
Additional survivor: a sister, Mildred Kempa, Savannah, Mo.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Burial: Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Clarksdale, Mo. Family visitation: 6 to 8:30 p.m. today and Friday at the funeral home, where friends may call after noon today.

Warren A. Donaldson
1926-1999
LAKE OZARK, Mo. -- Warren A. Donaldson, 72, Lake Ozark, formerly of St. Joseph, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, at a Kansas City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Donaldson had been employed as a claims adjuster for the Royal Globe Insurance Co. from 1954 to 1957, bond claims supervisor for the American-Fore Loyalty Group from 1957 to 1964, and general counsel, secretery and director for the Ozark National Life Insurance Co. from 1964 to 1975.
He also practiced law in Kansas City with the firms of Tucker, Murphy, Wilson & Siddens; Blumer and Wright; Arnold and Donaldson; and Donaldson and Lay. Then he moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and practiced law for a time at Donaldson and Schreimann; and then as a sole practitioner until his death. Mr. Donaldson was city attorney for Osage Beach, Mo., and then became secretary of the building project at the Lake of the Ozarks Community Bridge.
Born in St. Joseph on May 15, 1926, he had resided in St. Joseph until returning from the service. He had lived in Kansas City before moving to Lake Ozark in 1979.
Mr. Donaldson was a graduate of Central High School, St. Joseph; University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kan.; and University of Missouri, School of Law, Columbia, Mo.
During World War II and the Korean War, he served in the Navy. At various times, he joined bands as a trombone player and entertained the troops.
Mr. Donaldson was a member of American Bar Association; Missouri Bar Association; Kansas City Bar Association; Delta Theta Phi law fraternity; Macdonald-Dugger-Duncan-Petrie American Legion Post No. 11, St. Joseph; Lake Ozark Rotary Club and Carriage Club, Kansas City. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church in St. Joseph.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel E. and Clara B.
Surviving: cousins, Irene Butler, Easton, Mo., and Violet Whitson, St. Joseph.
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph. Burial: Blakeley Cemetery, Easton. Visitation: after 3 p.m. today, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight. Memorials may be made to cancer research.

Dorothy L. Everhart
1924-1999
Dorothy Lee (Lewis) Everhart, 74, St. Joseph, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at a St. Joseph health-care center.
Mrs. Everhart had been employed as a machine operator for Mead Products for 17 years until retiring in 1989.
Born in St. Joseph on April 16, 1924, she was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph. She had attended Lafayette High School and was a member of Woodson Chapel Christian Church.
On June 13, 1942, she married William R. Everhart in St. Joseph. He died in 1966.
Mrs. Everhart also was preceded in death by a son, Robert L.; and her parents, Lee and Alva Lewis.
Surviving: a son, Larry A., St. Joseph; two daughters, Diana L. Arn, Savannah, Mo., and Delores L. Butcher, St. Joseph; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Kathryn Frueh
1934-1999
SHERIDAN, Mo. -- Kathryn (Stout) Frueh, 65, Sheridan, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Frueh and her husband, Richard, had lived and farmed near Coffee Creek, Mont., until moving to Nodaway County, Mo., in 1971. She also had worked for the Basin State Bank in Stanford, Mont.
Born in Lewistown, Mont., on Jan. 14, 1934, she attended the Stanford high school. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Parnell, Mo., where she was active in St. Ann's Altar Society. She also had been active in a 4-H Club.
On Jan. 27, 1953, she married Richard H. Frueh in Geraldine, Mont. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Frueh was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil E. and Leona M. Stout; and a brother, Keith Stout.
Additional survivors: five daughters, Cindy Sheets, Lynnwood, Wash., Linda Schieber, Conception Junction, Mo., Janet Young, Savannah, Mo., Marlene Florea, Hopkins, Mo., and JoAnn Shipps, Maryville, Mo.; four sons, Dr. David, D.V.M., and Kevin, both of Maryville, Dennis, Hopkins, and Kelly, Granger, Iowa; two brothers, Don Stout, Lewistown, and Dean Stout, Belgrade, Mont.; and 13 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. today, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Parnell. Burial: St. Joseph's Cemetery, Parnell. Arrangements: Price Funeral Home, Maryville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Francis Hospice.

Marie Johnson
1907-1999
SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Marie (Schmitt) Johnson, 91, Savannah, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, at a health-care center in Savannah.
Born north of Savannah on Dec. 7, 1907, Mrs. Johnson was a lifelong resident of the Bolckow and Rosendale, Mo., and Savannah areas.
A homemaker, she was a graduate of the Savannah high school. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Savannah.
On Aug. 27, 1927, she married Royal E. Johnson. He died in 1991.
Mrs. Johnson also was preceded in death by her parents, Columbus C. and Sarah A. Schmitt; three brothers, Warren L., Lloyd L. and Franklin O. Schmitt; and a sister, Louella Alburn.
Surviving: a sister, Louetta DeVault, Savannah.

John B. Kennedy Jr.
1912-1999
WATHENA, Kan. -- John B. "Jake" Kennedy Jr., 86, Wathena, formerly of Troy, Kan., died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, at a health-care center in Wathena.
Mr. Kennedy, born in Troy on March 9, 1912, had farmed, and was a gunsmith and gun collector. He was a lifelong resident of the Troy area.
During World War II, he served in the Army. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Troy; and National Rifle Association.
On Nov. 5, 1938, he married Leona L. Abbett in Troy. She died in 1984.
Mr. Kennedy also was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Sr. and Hattie E.
Surviving: nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside service and burial: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Mount Olive Cemetery, Troy, with a flag-folding ceremony by members of the American Legion Post No. 55, Troy. Family visitation: 6 to 8 tonight, at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home, Troy.

Helen Lehr
1905-1999
CAMERON, Mo. -- Helen (Garner) Cope Lehr, 93, Cameron, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at the Cameron hospital.
Mrs. Lehr, born near Winston, Mo., on Feb. 26, 1905, had been employed as a clerk for the former DeKalb County Record Journal newspaper in Maysville, Mo.
In 1920, she married Robert F. Cope. He died in 1951. Then on Nov. 14, 1964, she married Glenn Lehr. He died in 1998.
Mrs. Lehr also was preceded in death by her parents, John W. and Emma Garner; and five brothers and sisters.
Surviving: two nephews, Robert Garner, Conroe, Texas; and Lowell Garner, Champaign, Ill.
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Bram Funeral Home, Maysville. Burial: Shambaugh-Cope Cemetery, Weatherby, Mo. Family visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
