Myrtle Hicks, daughter of Harrison Tetrick and Mary Catherine Driskell Tetrick, was passed away with her family by her side on Jan. 21, 2008, in Marshfield, at the age of 98 years, 8 months and 7 days.
Myrtle was a resident of the Ava community most of her life. She was a housewife and loving mother. She was born. He preceded her in married Rube Graham and to this union one daughter, Mary, was death. On Feb. 13, 1976, Myrtle and Earl Hicks were united in marriage in Marshfield. Earl preceded her in death by her parents, her husbands, one brother, Floyd, two sisters, Maude and Lulu, one daughter, Marie Hicks, two sons, Floyd Dale Collins and Don Collins, and an infant child.
She is survived by five children and their spouses, Charles Dean and LaVerne Collins, Fair Grove, Bonnie Haskins, Muscatine, Iowa, Fena and Herb Johnston, Lakeview, Ark., Dexter and Lynne Collins, Buffalo, Iowa, and Mary and Johnnie Crain, Muscatine, Iowa; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Iva Berry, Drury; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A service for Myrtle will be held today (Thursday, Jan. 24) at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel with Brad Smith officiating. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. till service time. Cemetery. The family requests memorials to American Heart Association.
Virginia E. Williams, 85

Virginia E. Williams began her life on May 17, 1922 in St. Louis, the daughter of Earl Huels and Myrtle (Huels) Millard. Ginny married Joseph F. Williams. Virginia and Joe lived in Mansfield before moving to Oklahoma, and then moved to Ava.
Virginia worked out of the home in the state of Washington as a telephone operator, then moved to Missouri and worked and retired from Tobin-Hamilton Shoe Factory. She was a hard worker and enjoyed family and friends. She also liked to travel.
Virginia was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church for more than 60 years. She was preceded in born Dec. 30, 1940, in Summit, Wisc., and death by her father.
Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Richard F. Salgado; her mother, Gloria (Butchke) Graves, of Sullivan, Wisc.; two children, Steven Salgado of New Berlin, Wisc., and Lori Gamroth, of Dousman, Wisc.; four siblings, Neil Graves, of Squires, Kathryn McHugh, of Waukesha, Wisc., Colleen Bliffert, of Dousman, Wisc., and Bonnie Pakula, of Sullivan, Wisc.; five grandchildren, Brent, Gregory, Thomas, William, Daniel; and three great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Gracie and Richard.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 4 p.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 14) at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Ava. Inurnment will be in Frye born July 10, 1947, in West Plains, and departed this life Feb. 13, 2008 at the age of 60 years 7 months and 3 days.
On April 7, 1968, Jerry and Sandra Sue Denton were united in marriage in West Plains. Jerry and Sandra were blessed with two daughters.
Jerry served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War 1966 - l968. Jerry was employed as manager of the Wallace and Owens Grocery in Ava for many years. He was also pastor at Roy Union Church for 15 years. He enjoyed his church and preaching, playing with his granddaughter, being with his daughters and family. Jerry also enjoyed a good car trade.
Jerry was preceded in Cemetery, with the Rev. Randy Dalton officiating. Services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with military service conducted by Ava V.F.W. Post 5993 and American Legion Post 112. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gideons International.
Doy Frank Parker, 88

Doy Frank Parker was died March 1, 2008. He has donated his remains to the Genesis Donor Research Program.
Doy proudly served his nation as a private 1st class in World War II.
He was preceded in born Oct. 23, 1910, in Okla., and departed this life March 18, 2005, at the age of 94.
Emma was a resident of Ava for the past 12 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed bingo and reading. Emma was united in mar-riage to John Hamilton on July 19, 1932, in Missouri. Mr. Hamilton preceded her in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include one son, John Gerald Hamilton Jr., North Carolina; two grandchildren, Robert and Daniel; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Corder, state of California; one daughter-in-law, Murnice Hamil-ton, Ava; and a host of other rela-tives and friends.
Cremation services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Charles B. ‘Chuck’ Cooper, Jr., 60

Charles Benjamin "Chuck" Cooper, Jr. was passed away July 29, 2008 in a auto accident along with his father in Shannon County, near Winona, at the age of 60 years.
Chuck was a resident of the Drury community for most of his life. He was a veteran and served in Vietnam with the U.S. Marines, CPL. He was formerly manager of the Ava License Bureau for Douglas County and also was operator of Cooper Cattle Co.
Chuck was a member of Ava VFW #5993, NRA, and the Shriners. He had attended the First General Baptist Church in Ava.
On March 27, 2001, Chuck and Christy Elliott were united in marriage in Hardy, Ark.
Chuck was preceded in Interment for Chuck will be scheduled at a later date and time at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, with full military honors.
The family requests memorials to American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until service time on Saturday.
