Benny F. Pool, the son of George W. Pool and Maggie L. Hicks Pool, was death by his parents; two brothers, Glen and Buck; two sisters, Hazel Bushong and Irene Strong; four nephews and two nieces.
He is survived by his wife, Twyla, of the home in Ava; three stepchildren and their spouses, Ronda and Brian Harvey, Rick and Cara Bunnell, and Rod and Kerrie Bunnell, all of Iowa; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Gene and Rheba Pool, Ava; four sisters, Midge Berry, Gainesville, Veda Bushong, Ava, Juanita Kazenske, Silvis, Ill., and Jo and John Stephens, Ava; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Dennis Shumate officiating. Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Military service will be by the American Legion Post 112 and VFW Post 5993. Memorials may be made to the Eaton born June 28, 1960 in Gainesville, and departed this life Aug. 17, 2008 at the age of 48 years 1 month and 19 days.
Danny was a resident of Thornfield for several years. He was a farmer and enjoyed working with his cattle. Danny also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going on float trips. He loved reaching out to help other people and was a friend to all. Danny enjoyed the peaceful surroundings of the countryside. He loved telling jokes and being one up on people. He was a hard worker and behind all his joking he was a soft soul. Danny was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by everyone.
Danny was preceded in Interment will follow in the Thornfield went to be with the Lord on Aug. 24, 2008 in St. John’s Regional Health Center surrounded by his wife of 68 years and his family.
He was death by his parents, a sister, and five brothers.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Mound Baptist Church with burial following in Hall Cemetery, or a charity of choice.
A retired farmer and equipment operator, Jim was a founding member of Mound Baptist Church. His legacy as a Christian parent, grandparent, and member of the community can never be surpassed. His wish would be that all would know Christ as their personal Savior.

Daniel ‘Pat’ Dobbins, 72

Daniel W. “Pat” Dobbins, 72, of East Moline, Ill., Entombment was at Greenview Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, East Moline, Ill., under direction of Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory.
Pat was married Irene Wininger on Jan. 1, 1991, in East Moline. Pat was an Army veteran.
Pat was owner and founder of Roadside Auto, Inc., and Dobbins Rental, Inc., for 43 years. He worked at John Deere prior to his ownership. He was national president for NIADA and was an active member at Heritage Wesleyan Church, Rock Island. He loved to travel, camp and enjoyed family gatherings and birthday parties.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; children, Frankie J. (Susan) Dobbins, Richard Dobbins, John (Marie) Dobbins, Brent (Iris) Boehnke, Lisa (Steven) Pienta, Dana Dobbins, Rachel (Shane) Munson; daughter-in-law, Julie Blood; grandchildren, Jimmy, Sean, Bradie, Jennifer, Ryan, Ethan, Krystin, Alex, Kirstie, Nick, Tyler, Natalie, Alys, Dylan and Dale; one great-grandchild, Logan; father, Daniel Dobbins; siblings, Annalee Pratt, Jerry Dobbins, Ralph Dobbins and Mary Ziegler; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in died at home on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005.
He was married Hazel E. Simpson and in 1952 they moved to Yakima, Wash.
Sherman started work as a can line mechanic for Del Monte Corp., a job he held until retirement in 1986. Sherman served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Some of his hobbies included gardening, motorcycle riding, raising registered Limousin cattle, and traveling in his pickup and fifth-wheel trailer. He enjoyed studying the Bible and spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Herd, of Wapato, Wash.; sons, Dallas Herd, Fort Mohave, Ariz., and Dean (Sue) Herd, of Wapato, Wash.; one brother, Bob Herd, of Haysville, Kan.; grandchildren, Shannon Herd, Charlotte Woods, Heath Herd, and Risa Stoller-Black; and great-grandchildren, Brittany Herd, Tanner Herd, Summer Herd, Shae Woods and Olivia Stoller-Black.
Preceding him in Interment was in Community Memorial Park, Wapato, Wash.

Leona Richards, daughter of John Lytle and Bertha Kendall Lytle, was Interment will follow in the Ava born Dec. 16, 1950, in St. Charles, Mo., to Joe and Ruth (Fenn) Beach.
Cheryl loved watching old comedy TV shows, like “I Love Lucy” and liked listening to Elvis Presley music and dancing. She loved going shopping and going out to eat. Her favorite sandwich was a Whopper. Cheryl loved being with her family and was always happy. She put everyone else first. Cheryl was a real angel and a beautiful gift from God.
Cheryl was preceded by her parents, Joe Oran and Ruth Marie Beach, and one brother, Waymond Joe Beach.
Cheryl is survived by two sisters, Debra and husband, Dan Honerkamp, and Patricia Beach, all of Ava; two brothers, Vernon and wife, Diana Beach, Warrenton, Mo., and Donald and wife, Gayle Beach, San Antonio, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Cheryl were Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Officiating was the Rev. Paul Welch.
