Cecil E. (Bud) Witchey, 79, was passed away on May 19, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
On Aug. 5, 1950, he was united in marriage to Roma D. Huffman in Mtn. Home, Ark. He had lived in the Ava area most of his life.
Bud was best known as a truck driver. He had helped many farmers haul their cattle to market. Since about 1945 he had spent long hours behind the wheel of a truck. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially taking them on some of his trips. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean conflict earning three bronze service stars in 18 months. He was a good friend to all who knew him, and always willing to help any neighbor in need.
Bud was preceded in Cemetery with full military honors.
Ernestine L. Givans, 79

Ernestine Lamb Givans passed from this earth Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Mercy Villa in Springfield, Mo., from a lengthy illness. She was death by her parents, two brothers, Rev. James Lamb and Jay Lamb, a sister, Geraldine Lamb, infant daughter, Cynthia Ann, and her husband, Robert "Bob" Givans.
Following her graduation from Miss Hickeys Secretarial School in St. Louis, she began her career as an executive secretary for such companies as Darcy Advertising and Aeronautical Chart in St. Louis. It was here that she met Robert L. Givans, her husband. They were born.
She gladly gave up the daily grind to raise her daughters as a stay at home mother. Because of this, she was able to help her daughters in scouting, swim teams and a long list of camps and other activities. She was a Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls for several years, as well as a former president of the Douglas County Republican Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ava Chapter #47 and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Ava. Ernestine assisted her husband in their business, Douglas County Abstract and Title Co. in Ava for over 20 years. They enjoyed Drury Panther basketball as season ticket holders for many years. In 1995, they moved from Ava to Springfield. Robert Cemetery, Ava, with the Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating. Visitation was Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.

Ralph Allen Goos, 94

Ralph Allen Goos, son of Fredrick August Goos and Maude Anna (Darling) Goos, was passed away June 9, 2008, at the Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare in Ava, Mo., at the age of 94 years. He attended a rural one-room school and graduated from Loup County High School in 1932. He later taught for four years in the same school he attended as a boy.
On Aug. 23, 1936, Ralph born.
Ralph and Irene farmed and ranched in Nebraska until they moved to Ava, in 1952. In 1959, they moved to Tonganoxie, Kan., where they lived for 32 years, moving back to Ava in 1992. Ralph retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglass Company after working for them 25 years. He was a member of the Friends Church in Tonganoxie as well as attending the Girdner Church and First Southern Baptist Church while living in Ava.
He was preceded in Interment will be in the Ava born on Dec. 25, 1927 in Pottman, Kan., and went to be with his Lord Jesus on March 8, 2008 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 13 days.
Bill lived all of his life in the Bradleyville community. He was a beef farmer and milk hauler for Bradleyville Cheese Plant. On Aug. 28, 1947, Bill and Tressie Cox were united in marriage in Crossroads, Mo., and to this union two children were death by his parents and one infant sister, Linda.
He is survived by his wife, Tressie (Cox) Casey, of Heart of the Ozarks, Ava; one son and wife, Gary and Barbara Casey, Bradleyville; one daughter and husband, Sue and Bill Guerin, Taneyville; five grandchildren, Eric and Shorty Guerin, Cassey Matthews, Sara Ridings and Amy Blair; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Wayne and Mary Casey, Springfield, and J.B. and Marcie Pare, Ozark; four sisters, Nita Lambeth, Springfield, Lorene and husband, Elwyn, Granite City, Ill., Betty and husband, Junior Halcomb, Oldfield, and Carolyn and husband, Frank Busek, Phillips, Wisc.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held Tuesday, March 11, at 10 a.m., in Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Keith Lafferty and Jeff Marsh officiating. Cemetery at Mound. Visitation was Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. The family requests memorials to American Diabetes Association or Gideons International.
Bertha Mae Coats Uhlmann, 91

Bertha Mae Uhlmann was died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 91 years.
Bertha grew up in Douglas and Wright counties and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1935, and then attended Southwest Missouri Teacher's College in Springfield. She was united in marriage to William Robert Uhlmann on Aug. 11, 1940. One daughter was passed away on Aug. 2, 1992.
Bertha enjoyed being a homemaker, wife and mother. She loved visits with her family and friends. She had a special way of bringing joy to any gathering.
She attended the First Freewill Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove and after moving to Springfield, she attended the Seminole Baptist Temple as long as her health permitted.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove.
Golda Lawrence, 99

Golda M. Lawrence, the daughter of Waymon L. Floyd and Sue Etta (Smith) Floyd, was death by her parents, one brother, Guy Floyd, and her husband, Elbert.
She is survived by one son, Junior Lawrence, Bradleyville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Joe Lawrence, Brown Branch, Mo., Jeff Lawrence, McClurg, Mo., and Shirley Counts, Forsyth, Mo.; six great-grandchildren, Tanya, David, Jason, Morgan, Jake and Shelby; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Vernon Fuller officiating. Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. until service time.
Memorials may be made to the Dann Cemetery.
