Walter William Fonter, 84

Walter William Fonter, son of Paul B. Fonter and Margaret Kolmar Fonter, was born. Walter grew up in Lyons, Ill., and as a child was raised in the Lutheran Church and believed in the Lord.
Walter was preceded in Interment followed in the Ava born Oct. 6, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pa. Carol departed this life on May 26, 2007 at approximately 5:55 p.m. following a long illness.
For the past few months Carol had been in St. John's Hospital in Springfield. The two weeks preceding her married Harry David Wyse in St. David's, Pa., on Feb. 13, 1971. To this union two children were death were her father, her grandparents, her son, David Lee Kohler, a daughter, Franny Wyse, and a son Charles David Wyse.
She is survived by her mother, Ruth Kohler, of Pennsylvania; her daughter, Tricia Wyse, of Raleigh, N.C.; her granddaughter, Francesca; several cousins; and many friends.
Carol was a Brownie Troop Leader for one year until she got so sick with her first round of cancer. She was also in the Limerick, Pa. Fire Company Auxiliary for a year. Carol liked crocheting, doing puzzles, bluegrass music, and she loved her cat, Baby.
Carol gave her life to the Lord and followed his leading to come to Ava in September 2003. The Lord opened the door for Carol to be a study helper for World Bible School in November 2004, and she has had students from all over the world. They also shared inspirational emails and did prayer chains back and forth. She loved attending the Ava Church of Christ and learned a lot.
In December 1977 doctors found cancer in Carol, and she battled that cancer for 28 years. In December 2005 they found more cancer which eventually took her from this world.
A memorial service is planned for Sunday, June 10, at Ava Church of Christ on South Highway 5 at 1:30 p.m., with burial of her ashes to follow at the Ava born June 21, 1932, at Ditt, Mo., and death by his parents and one nephew, Larry Dean.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Nina Sue, of the home; daughters, Suzette and husband, David Litwiller, Phyllis Turley, and Gail and husband, Randy Dalton; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Lurene and Leon Harris, Ava; brothers, Donald and wife, Leveta, Edwardsville, Kan., Conley and wife, Violet "Honey", Kansas City, Kan., and Rondol and wife, Kathy, Kansas City, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Randy Dalton and Robert Roberts officiating. Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to Gideons International or the Lutie passed away July 9, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson, Kan.
He was married at Great Bend, Kan., to Eleanor C. Churchill, who survives.
He was a heavy equipment operator for Stone Sand, Venture and later worked for E-pox-Poly retiring in 1994.
He was a resident of Great Bend, Kan., since 1953, moving from Squires. He was a talented singer and guitarist, and enjoyed writing poetry.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; four sons, Steve Wilkinson and wife, Sharon, Hoisington, Kan., Scott Wilkinson and wife, Maxine, Great Bend, Kan., John Wilkinson, Hutchinson, Kan., and Richard Wilkinson, Garden City, Kan.; one step-son, Jim Churchill and wife, Rojean, Woodward, Okla.; three daughters, Diane Ramos, Teresa Hannaford and husband, Dennis, and Kimberly Mendez and husband, Juan, all of Great Bend, Kan.; two stepdaughters, Linda Renfro and husband, Willard, and Cheryl Muth and husband, Jim, all of Great Bend, Kan.; three sisters, Retha Trent, Squires, Gladys Turner, Kansas City, and Myrtle Hanoch, Midland, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend, Kan.

Bernard Charles Bush, the son of Charles Bush and Florence Melissa (Hoard) Bush, was death by his parents.
His survivors include his companion of 28 years, Louise Nicolena Morse, Mansfield; a stepson, James Gonzalez, M.D., Redding, Calif.; four step-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Harper and Madeline Harper, both of Lisle, N.Y.; two brothers, Cleon Bush, Marathon, N.Y., and Walter Bush, Baldwinsville, N.Y. and other relatives and friends.
Cremation services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Rolla A. Hodges, 85

Rolla A. Hodges, the son of Edmond Hodges and Eugenia E. (Summers) Hodges, was death by his parents, and 11 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Marie, Bradleyville; three children, Patsy Horner, Forsyth, Roger Hodges and wife, Dede, Bradleyville, and Vicki Clark and husband, Ray, Aurora; seven grandchildren, Ritchie, Summer, Brad, Melanie, Darren, Bridgette and Jarred, who is serving a 3rd tour with the Marines in Iraq at this time; five great-grandchildren, Dustin, Alex, Sydney, Hailey, Olivia and two on the way; and many other relatives and friends.
Services will be 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at the New Mansion Church at Bradleyville, with the Revs. Jeff Marsh and Bill Austin officiating. Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to Gideon International or Mills Cemetery.
