Cora Eileen Wendland, 62

Cora Eileen Wendland, 62, Ava, born Oct. 25, 1942, in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Mildred Frances (Baker) Clancy.

On April 24, 1964, she was united in marriage to Charles Wendland in Lincoln, Neb., and this union was blessed with two wonderful children.

Eileen was employed by the Douglas County Health Department/Home Health Care Agency as a health care provider since the agency opened approximately 30 years ago.

Eileen's kind and caring manner was renowned throughout the agency, as well as the community at large. She preformed her duties never drawing attention to herself, was very attentive to details, provided assistance to the needy, made phone calls of reassurance to anxious clients, and always prided herself with the quality of her work.

Eileen was a loving and wonderful mother, grandmother, and a devoted caring wife. For her children, she eased the transition from mother to friend with great love and made lasting memories. She was "everyone's glue" always holding everything together while extending her gracious hospitality and love. Eileen's tiny frame measured 4 feet 11 1/2 inches and she always wanted to be 5 feet tall, but to her family and friends she measured 10 feet tall.

Eileen embraced the Baptist faith as a member of the First General Baptist Church, Ava. She depended on her faith for her spiritual and social life, always demonstrating her love for Christ with compassion and encouragement.

She was preceded in Cemetery, Exline Iowa.

Elizabeth Darlene Smith, 89
May 19, 2005
Elizabeth Darlene Smith, the daughter of Leon Arthur Gould and Alice Eugenia (Anderson) Gould, was born. Elizabeth was a homemaker and farmer. Elizabeth has been a resident of the Ava area since 1937. She is also a member of Church of Christ (Temple Lot).

Elizabeth was preceded in Cemetery, with Elder Joe Smith officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 6-7 p.m., in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.

Freda D. Heyn, 68
May 26, 2005
Freda D. Heyn, 68, Ava, funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. Ben DeWitt officiating, followed by a proper burial in the Old Boston born Sept. 5, 1935, at Oldfield, Mo., the daughter of Harrison and Elma Allen Coffer. On Feb. 1, 1957, she was united in marriage to Fred Heyn in Ozark.

Freda dedicated her life to Christ at the early age of 16 and revealed God's presence in her life with daily thoughtfulness for others, caring love and tremendous faith. She loved church activities and attended Oldfield Full Gospel Church. Freda would want everyone to keep smiling while loving one another…a simple truth from a beautiful smiling and special caring lady.

Freda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Fred; one daughter Paula Waggoner and husband Mike, of Ava; one son Harold Heyn, also of Ava; seven grandchildren Dustin, Eric and Travis Smith, Jennifer Clark, Ryan, Brooke and Brett Waggoner; seven great-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other caring relatives and numerous good friends.

She was preceded in funeral service on Saturday, there will be a visitation on May 27, from 6 to 7 p.m.. in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark.

Beulah Irene Rowland, 86

Beulah Irene Rowland, daughter of the late George Washington and Sarah (Hopper) Vaughan, was passed away on Oct. 5, 1987.

Beulah enjoyed being outdoors tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and helping Charley on their farm. She also enjoyed at-tending singings and Sunday after-noon get togethers with friends. She was well known in the Nor-wood Community and liked par-ticipating in community events.

Beulah was saved and baptized at a young age and was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Norwood.

Beulah was a kind and loving person. Even though she never had any children of her own, she considered Brittani and Tasha Thomp-son her grandchildren. She looked forward to their visits and enjoyed spending time with them.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove.

Bertha Massey, 93
Jun 23, 2005
Bertha Edna Massey, daughter of Howard Thornton and Belle (Halford) Thornton, was born. Bertha was a homemaker and helped her husband run the family farm. She was a member of the Church of God at Gentryville.

Bertha was preceded in Interment was in the Pleasant Home born Dec. 8, 1921, in Douglas County, and departed this life June 23, 2005, at the age of 83.

Viola was a resident of the Fair Play area for the past 20 years, moving from Kansas. Viola was raised in the Douglas County community. In June of 1962, Viola and Donald Joseph Dacy were united in marriage in Miami, Okla. Viola was employed in real estate sales for 20 years in the Kansas City area. She liked her pets and loved being outdoors and working with her husband, Don, on the farm.

Viola was preceded in Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
