Barbara Jean Davis Mitchell was born to Neal and Bertha Davis. At the age of 10, her family moved to Ava, where she attended school and graduated from high school.
She met her husband, Clint Mitchell, while he was holding a revival at Gentry Church. They were born: Diana, Linda, Joyce and Curtis.
Barbara was a helpmate to her husband and assisted in his ministry. Their ministry spanned 58 plus years through Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Missouri. They moved to the Tulsa area in 1981 and pastored around the Northeast Oklahoma District until Clint’s retirement in 1993. Barbara worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Oklahoma in Tulsa as an underwriting secretary in New Business from 1983 until her retirement in 1999.
Barbara death by her parents, Neal and Bertha Davis, two brothers, Lloyd and Jesse Davis, and one nephew, David Hailey.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m., at Central Church of the Nazarene, Tulsa, Okla.
Zola Fern Hibbard, 91

Zola Fern Hibbard, 91, of Piedmont, born Dec. 3, 1914, in Ava. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist church in Piedmont, a member of the United Methodist Women, and also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #347. She was co-owner and operator along with her deceased husband, Glenn, of the Western Auto Store which they owned for 51 years.
Zola death on May 27, 2003.
Survivors include one son, Glenn David Hibbard and wife, Becky; granddaughters, Sarah Beth Shearrer and husband, Eric, of Piedmont, and Susanne Rae James and husband, Ed, of Jackson, Mo.; one brother, Lyle Ray and wife, Dean, of Ava.
She was preceded in married her sweetheart. They kept it secret for four years because woman teachers could not be Cemetery, Piedmont.
Rebecca Steelman, 93

Rebecca Steelman, 93, born Nov. 29, 1912, the daughter of James and Josephine (Clark) Schudy. She was preceded in death in 1992.
They had three children, Jim, of Judsonia, Ark., Warren, of Houston, Texas, and Barbara, of Springfield; nine grandchildren (two deceased), and nine great-grandchildren.
Winnie Inez Miller, 98

Winnie Inez Miller, the daughter of Walter Jackson Billingsley and Lulu E. (Brown) Billingsley, was death by her parents, one brother, Homer Billingsley and one sister, Edith Billingsley.
Winnie is survived by one brother and his wife, James W. and Velma Billingsley, Spokane; five nephews, J.T. Billingsley and wife, June (whom Winnie made her home with before going to Heart of the Ozarks), Spokane, David Billingsley, state of Ohio, Jeff Billingsley, Forsyth, Donnie Billingsley, state of Iowa, and Donald Miller, Ardmore, Okla.; one niece, Pam Dyck and husband Jerry, Newton, Kan.; also several great nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be today (Thursday, Oct. 12), at 10:30 a.m. in the Mt. Tabor General Baptist Church with a visitation before at 10 a.m. at the church. The service will be officiated by the Revs. John Haskins and Paul Mohler.
Cemetery. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Audra Salas, 74

Audra Durham Salas born Feb. 12, 1932, at Girdner, to Effie Potter Durham and Robert Durham. She was united in marriage to her football hero, Bert Salas, on Feb. 14, 1951. They raised two sons and a daughter in San Diego, Calif.
Audra is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bert, a son Tim, of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Adrianna Merrell, of Henderson, Nev.; a granddaughter, Danielle Merrell; a grandson, Brexton Wayne; and a sister-in-law, Iris Ann Durham, of Ava.
A son preceded Audra in death.
Audra was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed traveling and frequent bingo games at Las Vegas. She and Bert kept in close touch with their Ava High School classmates of 1950. They were always very supportive of their class reunions.
A memorial service will be held Oct. 11 in Henderson, Nev. Another memorial service will be held Oct. 15, in San Diego, Calif., as a convenience for Bert’s large family.
Donations may be made to the Shriners Children Hospital Burn Unit, in Los Angeles.
