Donna Marie Barnes, 55

Donna Marie Barnes, 55, of Prairie Village, Kan., was passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she had devoted 37 years of her life working in the Department of Urology. Donna was the urology residency coordinator for over 30 years. She was featured in the February 2006 issue of Ingram's Business Magazine as a "Heroes in Healthcare." Her devotion at the University of Kansas Medical Center was unmatched by her devotion to her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her son, Kenny Anderson and wife, Monica, of Mission, Kan., and daughter Lynne Schutt and husband, Mark, of Shawnee, Kan.; four grandchildren, Kourtney Anderson, Kenny Anderson, Sydney Schutt and Mason Schutt; her mother, Leona Barnes of Olathe, Kan.; her siblings and their spouses, Melva Dean Johnson (Bob) of Des Arc, Ark., Gale Barnes (Joy) of Buffalo, Gary Barnes (Carol) of Overland Park, Kan., Deanne Cervantes (Steve) of San Diego, Calif., and many precious nieces, nephews, dear friends, and colleagues; especially, Jana Parrett, who was like a sister to Donna, and an aunt to Kenny and Lynne, for over 30 years.
Donna was preceded in born on July 6, 1919, in Dewey, Okla., and departed this life on Jan. 11, 2007, in the St. John's Hospital, Springfield, following a short illness, at the age of 87.
Lee grew up on a farm in Douglas County in the Drury area and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1941. Between his junior and senior years in high school he joined the CCCs to help his family financially and went back to school to graduate.
He joined the United States Horse Cavalry Division that later became the United States 9th Armored Division. He served his country in the European Theater, Battle of the Bulge, and spearheaded crossing the Rhine River and pushed all the way to Berlin. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 17, 1945.
Lee was united in marriage to Margaret Burge on Sept. 26, 1946, in Ava. They moved to California in 1950 and adopted their three children while living there. They moved to London, Ark., in 1962. There they raised their children on a chicken farm along with raising foster children over the years. They moved back to the Mtn. Grove area in 1982.
In his spare time, Lee enjoyed reading and working out at the YMCA on a regular basis. He had a great sense of humor and loved making those around him laugh. He was also known as a man of his word who was highly respected.
Lee was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting with his neighbors and many friends.
At the time of his death by one son, Lt. William "Bill" Lee Cooley, in 1978; three brothers, Orville Cooley, Landon Cooley, and Frederick Cooley; four sisters, Janice Wade, Hazel Schumann, Ida Cooley and Joan McGinnis.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Cooley, of their home; one son, Patrick Cooley and his wife, Cindy, of North Little Rock, Ark.; one daughter, Shirley Smith and her husband, Joe, of Mtn. Grove; two sisters, Frances Sutherland and Janie Hicks, both of Mtn. Grove; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m., in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel, Mtn. Grove, with the Rev. John Luther officiating, with full military honors by the American Legion Post 30. Burial was in the New Hope passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, Mo.
She was death by her parents; and her husband, Joe Transano, on July 31, 1992.
Funeral Services will be today (Thursday, Jan. 18) at 11 a.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Mo., with the Rev. Jared Freemeyer officiating.

Larry Von Booth, 66

Larry Von Booth, 66, Ava, Missouri, formerly of Springfield, born March 30, 1940, to Roscoe and Marie Booth in Collins, Mississippi. Larry was the youngest of four children, with two older brothers and one sister. He graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1957, and during High School began working as a meat cutter, a trade that later lead him to be a successful businessman. Larry owned Booth's So-Lo Market and two laundromats in Springfield.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Martha; daughter, Tara Dorsey and husband, Brian, of Springfield; three stepsons Leroy Stillings and wife, Teresa, Leslie Stillings and wife, Carla, all of Ava, and Mark Stillings and wife, Barbie of Nixa; two brothers, Hollis Booth, of Brookline, and Gene Booth and wife, Maxine, of Willard; a sister, Joan Highfill and husband, Hunter, of Springfield; two granddaughters, Danielle and Nicole Dorsey; six step-grandsons; four step-great-granddaughters; two aunts, Lucille Booth, of Springfield, and Freida Bruer, of Alabama; an uncle, Vaughn Booth, of Springfield; a very special niece, Brenda Sloan and her children Jenny, Crissy and Dustin, of Texas; the mother of his children, June Booth; many close friends and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, in Highway Church of the Nazarene, Ava, under the direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Mark Hatcher, Pastor Dustin Ledford, and Pastor Terry Allcorn officiating. Burial with full military honors was held at 2 p.m. in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield.
Visitation was held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 28, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark.
Memorial contributions are suggested to South Side Senior Center, American Cancer Society, Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or Gideons International.
Margaret Moran, 83

Margaret Moran, 83, of Springfield, born April 20, 1923, in Whitburn, Scotland, the daughter of Hugh and Mary (Clarkin) Friel.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and the Senior Group. If asked what she was proudest of, Margaret would have said, "Raising 12 children."
She was preceded in Cemetery under the direction of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be today (Thursday) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, followed by the Rosary at 8:30.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Society of African Missions or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Anna Mae Carr, 69, of East Moline, Ill., death by her parents, eight siblings, and a granddaughter, "Cati-Bug."
Anna is survived by three sons, Robert and Sharon Allison, of East Moline, Ill., Raymond and Laura Allison, of Minnesota, and Roy Carr, of East Moline, Ill. She is also survived by two daughters, Roberta and Bruce Abramson, of Minnesota, and Romona and Bobby Stephens, of Missouri; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ava Family Funeral Home. A visitation is being held from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Thursday) at Van Hoe Funeral Home in East Moline. Visitation here will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Burial will follow at Turkey Creek Cemetery east of Ava. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Louis Shriners Hospital.
