Shannen R. Dobbs, 27, of Ava, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 11 with his family surrounding him. He was 75 years old and had experienced a short illness with lung cancer.
Visitation services will be today (Thursday, March 15) from 7 to 9 p.m. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 16 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Ava.
Graveside services will follow at the Ava death by his father, Frank B. Witt, his mother, Velma Gass Witt, and his stepmother, Ruth Nace Witt.
John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth; his sister, Jean Scott, of Niles, Ohio and her husband, Joel; his brother, Frank Witt, Jr., of Poland, Ohio and his wife Jane; 10 children, John Witt, of Lake St. Louis and his wife, Pat, Tina Talbert, Springfield, and her husband, Keith, Cheryl Orr, Lee's Summit, and her husband, Bob, Darlene Petty, Brighton, and her husband, Randy, Diane Cunningham, Overland Park, Kan., and her husband, Bill, Dan Witt, Kansas City, and his wife, Bonnie, Jeff Witt, Mullins, S. C., Rod Witt, Nixa, and his wife, Sheryl, Clay Witt, McKinney, Texas and his wife, Stacy, Anita Madche, Fort Sheridan, Ill. and her husband, Ray; and 21 grandchildren.
He was died when he was 3 and he was raised by his grandparents and his Aunt Zoe until his father repassed away Thursday, March 7, 2007, in Christian Health Care, Republic.
He was death by his parents, four brothers, Alva, Junior, Orville and an infant brother, Audie Norman; and a sister, Bertie.
He is survived by two half brothers, Bruce Snow, Billings and Herbert Snow, Wichita, Kan.; a longtime friend and caregiver, June Haynes; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, in Stillings born March 25, 1922 in Ozark County, Mo., and departed this life March 8, 2007, at the age of 84.
Thelma was a life long resident of the Ava area. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She loved being in the outdoors and delighted in watching her favorite TV shows, Dragnet and Dallas. Thelma also enjoyed calling everybody by their full given name and she loved being with her family.
Thelma was preceded in Interment was in the Souder born on March 17, 1915 in Ava, and departed this life on March 18, 2007 in Doctor's Hospital, Springfield, at the age of 92.
Neil was a lifelong resident of the Ava community. He was a farmer and worked for Kraft for over 25 years as a milk truck driver. He also was an Air Force Medic veteran and served in World War II in Europe. Neil was a mem¬ber of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ava Post #5993. He attended church all of his life and in the past few years attended Star Chapel.
Neil was preceded in Interment will follow in the Whites Creek Ceme¬tery with full military honors by Ava VFW Post 5993 and American Legion Post 112. Visitation was held Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. The family requests memorials to Whites Creek born Sept. 10, 1940, in Bruner, and departed this life April 24, 2007, at the age of 66.
Larry was a life long resident of the Bruner community. He was a warehouseman with the Associated Wholesale Grocers for 31 years. He was a member of Teamster Union #245. Larry served his country with U.S. Army.
On Aug. 23, 1965 Larry and Dorothy Suggs were united in marriage in Dogwood. Larry and Dorothy were blessed with two children.
Larry enjoyed hunting in Colorado, mushroom hunting, digging ginseng and goldenseal with his son, and being with all his family. He was preceded in Cemetery, Bruner, with the Rev. Carnel "Bally" Johnson officiating. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.

Edna Marie Butler Wright, the daughter of William Franklin Collins and Eva Ray Collins, was married to Herman Monroe Butler and he preceded her in married Cecil Wright.
Edna loved quilting. She made beautiful handmade designed quilts. She also loved gardening, cooking, camping, fishing and her dog. She was a wonderful homemaker and a strong independent woman.
She was preceded in Cemetery, with Pastor Wayne Strohschein officiating. Visitation was held Friday at 1 p.m. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
