Wilda Pitts Chandler was married Leo Pitts, son of Joseph V. and Maggie Pitts, and three sons were death by her first husband, Leo, and second husband, Homer Chandler.
Wilda devoted her life to providing for her sons. Working out of the home all of her adult life, she worked almost around the clock for many years, as a clerk in the local Carps Department Store, while also working as the night telephone operator for the Ava Telephone Co. She finished her work career as the receptionist for Dr. C.E. Harlan.
Wilda moved to Kansas City to be near two of her sons in 1992, where she Cemetery with the Rev. Lin Stern officiating. Memorials may be made to the Kansas City Hospice.
Claud James English, 69

Claud James English was passed away on February 18, 2008, in his home surrounded by family and friends.
Claud was baptized at an early age at the Plad Community Church. He served in United States Air Force from 1955 until 1959 as an Airman Second Class. He served a military tour in Turkey during his time of service.

Claud is lovingly survived by his wife, Connie; four children, Christine Bender and husband Christopher, Camarillo, Calif., Geri Mullen, Lee’s Summit, Mo., Crystal Sabas and her husband Ray, Warrensburg, Mo., Chad English and his wife Laverna of Norwood; 12 grandchildren, Jade, Ashley, Stephan, Janell, Brittany, Weston, Cameron, Trystan, Kaci, Dakoda, Savannah and Sydni; 4 great grandchildren, Levi, Hunter, London and Payden; his sister Ramona Pusich and husband John, Camarillo, Calif.; his brothers Daniel English and wife Jimmie, Kenai, Alaska, and Bob English of Porterville, Calif.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be held Saturday February 23, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Skyline Full Gospel with Pastor Wayne Pierson officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associa¬tion or Community Hospice of Mountain Grove.
Prentis E. Fry, 69

Mr. Prentis E. Fry, 69, of Ava, formerly of Ozark, born June 18, 1938, in Ozark County to James and Alta (Loftis) Fry. On June 22, 1961, he was united in marriage to Fay Cox and to this union two children were death by his parents.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13, with Pastor James Eakins officiating, under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial followed in the Mt. Tabor born Feb. 28, 1940, in the Bruner community, the son of Elmo Elvis Cornelison and Ammie Francis (Swearengin) Cornelison, and departed this life Feb. 25, 2008 at the age of 67 years 11 months and 27 days.
Dallas was a resident of the Squires area for the past 18 years. Dallas graduated from Ava High School and on April 8, 1958 Dallas and Leta Fae Lee were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Seymour. Dallas and Leta were blessed with four children.
Dallas was employed by General Dynamics Aircraft Co of Ft. Worth, Texas, and self-employed as a truck driver until retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, researching genealogy on the Internet, as well as spending time with his grandchildren.
Dallas was baptized in 1953 at Haskins Ford in Christian County and was Sunday school superintendent at Union Chapel Baptist Church in Webster County.
Dallas was preceded in Interment will follow in the Union Chapel born Dec. 20, 1913, at Texanna, Okla., and entered into perfect peace on March 24, 2005, at the age of 91.
Lelah was a lifelong resident of the Union Flat Community where she and her husband, Russell, owned and operated a farm for 30 years before purchasing the County General Store from her mother. She taught school at Union Hill for two years and two years at Union Flat in a one-room school with grades one through 8. Lelah was a Sunday School teacher for most of 40 years.
On Oct. 1, 1927, Lelah accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined the Union Flat Church where she was a faithful member and was a devoted deacon’s wife.
On Nov. 11, 1932, Lelah and Russell Todd were united in marriage at Forsyth, and to this union four children were death by her husband, Russell, on June 7, 1987; her son, Darrell Todd, on Jan. 21, 2005; one son-in-law, Billy Herd; one granddaughter, Kimberly Bird; and one step-grandson, Justin Wyman; one sister, Vina Johnson, and two brothers, Thurman and Eudell.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 28, at the White River Association Building, Taneyville, with the Revs. R.E. Helsley, Bill Austin, Jack Clemans and Jeff Marsh officiating. Cemetery, Bradleyville, under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home, Branson.
Gordon Clyde Thurman, 92

On May 17, 2008, Gordon Clyde Thurman born in Girdner, Missouri to Lee and Hannah (nee Lefler) Thurman. He was death. He was also preceded in death by one son, Lee Thurman, and a brother, Wendell Thurman.
Gordon is survived by one son, Merrill Thurman and his wife Rita; two grandchildren, Lee Thurman and his wife, Melissa, and Victoria Hash and her husband, Ben; two great-grandchildren, Hayden Thurman and Baylee Hash; three sisters, Faye Sims, Gayle Morgan, and Rosella Russell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Gordon was a retired railroad engineer from the Western Pacific Railroad. He loved hard work, his animals, and the great outdoors. More than anything, he loved his siblings, his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren, referring to them as the “light of my life.” Gordon will be greatly missed and always loved.
We love you Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend. You will be forever in our hearts.
