Roy E. Lee, 72

Roy E. Lee, son of Opha Lee and Mabel Proctor Lee, was passed away on May 13, 2005 in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, at the age of 72.
Roy was a resident of Kansas City for five years and then moved back to the family farm, where he was a stock and dairy farmer for 39 years. He worked in Kansas City at the Ford and GM plants and sold real estate.
On July 10, 1954, Roy and Glenda Walker were united in marriage in Ava, and to this union three children were death by his parents and an infant sister.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda, of the home in Drury; two daughters, Debbie Stone and husband, Mike, Ava, and Dianne Evans, Drury, and one son, Greg Lee and wife, Helen, of Drury; five grandchildren, Chris Owens, Casey Owens, Levi Evans, Jonathan Lee and Paden Lee; four great-grandchildren, Wade Owens, Ellie Owens, Whitney Evans and Addie Evans; two brothers, Waltza Lee and Ida, Mtn. Grove, and Bill and Joyce Lee, Nixa; and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with E.J. Hampton officiating. Harlin Howerton officiated at visitation Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m.
Cemetery, Drury, with full military rites by Douglas County American Legion Post 112 and Ava VFW Post 5993.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Pleasant Home passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005, at St. Luke’s Hospital after a courageous battle against colon cancer. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, June 17, at 10 a.m., in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Jerry Applegate officiating.
Beverly was death by her father and mother, Lee F. and Lottie Russell, and three siblings, Lee Max Russell, Robert Neal Russell and Virginia King.
Beverly is survived by a twin sister, Carol Sue Russell, Kansas City, four sisters and a brother, Bette Dean Douglass and husband, Steve, Rolla, Linda Kay Napoliello and husband, Ronald, Houston, Texas, Sheryl Jo Russell, Lenexa, Kan., Samuel John Russell and wife, Judy, Ozark, and Lana Lea Logston and husband, David, Independence; two sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
Contributions in Beverly’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Helen M. Smith, 93, Springfield, was passed away on June 19, 2005, in Springfield.
Helen was united in marriage with Eben Smith and he preceded her in Funeral Service at Rivermonte Chapel, with born on Oct. 13, 1909, in Douglas County, Mo., and born. Versal loved gardening and bird watching. She was a member of the Ava Full Gospel Church.
Versal was preceded in Cemetery. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. Memorials can be made to the Douglas County Library.
Burket Robert Ray Whitaker, Infant

Burket Robert Ray Whitaker, 4-months, born Feb. 16, 2005, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, to Holly Whitaker, of Squires.
Surviving in addition to his mother are grandparents, Ray and Janis Whitaker, Squires, an uncle and aunt, Robert and Leah Whitaker, Kansas City; a cousin, Justin Whitaker, Kansas City; and a special friend, Tina Frost.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Oak Grove General Baptist Church, Wasola, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery by American Legion Post 30 with Jared Moore serving as bugler. Burial was in Brushy Knob born March 20, 1936, in Brushy Knob, in Douglas County. He weighed 1 1/2 pounds at birth.
He departed this life on June 26, 2005, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, following a courageous battle with a lung illness.
William grew up and attended school at Brushy Knob where he made many longtime friends. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on March 18, 1960.
He was united in marriage to Jessie Mitchell on Aug. 24, 1960. Two sons were death by an infant brother, Willard Page; one sister, Maxine King, in July 2003; and by a grandson, Larry Melton in 1992.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jessie Page, of their home in Aurora, Ill.; two sons, David Allen Page, of Aurora, Ill., and William “Latham” Page Jr., and his wife, Joy, of Hanover Park, Ill.; one daughter, Vernabeth Raney and her husband, Steve, of Mtn. Grove; two brothers, Daniel Page and his wife, Beverly, of Norwood, and Rickey Page and his wife, Roberta, of Macomb; three sisters, Norma James and her husband Charles, Susie Parmenter and her husband Bill, and Nancy Hopper, all of Norwood; his brother-in-law, George “Junior” King, of Aurora, Ill.; five grandchildren, Michael Page, Amber Page, Rory Faith Page, Nichole Page, and Shanda Melton; four great-grandchildren, Hailey, Tyler, Latham and Braden; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Karen Chronister, daughter of Richard Lee “Dick” Gastineau and Margaret Lois McHolland Gastineau, was death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Buddy, of the home, Ava; one brother, Lyle Gastineau, Lawrenceburg, Ind.; two nephews, Scott and Steven Gastineau; her mother-in-law, Edna Scott, Sparta; one brother-in-law and wife, Bob and Gayle Chronister, Ozark; two sisters-in-law and husbands, Sandra and Ervin Maggard, Ozark, and Sharon Kay and Glen Maggard, Sparta; lifelong friends, Janice Frye and Linda Watts, and other relatives and friends.
Services were held Monday, July 18, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Oren Alcorn and John Haskins officiating. Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
