Jewell Clayton Kester, fondly known as “J.C”, age 87, of Ava, was passed away in Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center after a brief stay.

He was death by his parents; one son, William Isaac Kester; three brothers; three sisters; and one grandson.

He leaves behind his caring wife of 68 years, Goldie, of the home; four daughters and their spouses, Joann and Leon Spell, of Donovan, Lorene and Henry Lawrence, Springfield, Nancy and Lester Cook, Ava, and Glenda Floyd, Springfield; two sons and their spouses, Howard and Dottie Kester, Hoyt, Kan., and Paul and Lois Kester, Ava; one brother, Clarence Kester and wife, Joan, of Stilwell, Okla.; three sisters, Juanita Jones, Stilwell, Okla., Cecil Abbott, Piedmont, Clara Wilson, Hampstead, Md; a very special friend, Don Williams, Springfield; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many caring friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) in the First Southern Baptist Church of Ava, with the Rev. Tom Maples officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, in Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center.

Helen was born.

Helen was a retired registered nurse in the cardiac field, as well as a charge nurse in several skilled nursing facilities. She was also a member of the Sequoia Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma and a member of the Douglas County Writers guild. Her loving, caring and skilled nature allowed her to care for her invalid mother-in-law for several years. She enjoyed good conversations, bird watching, was in the process of writing her own family history, and never met a stranger. Helen was aware of everything around her in the great outdoors or among people.

She relished every minute of her life and appreciated every day and every friendship.

Helen was preceded in Cemetery, Ava.

The Jackson family requests memorial donations in Helen’s memory to the Ava Victory Academy, Union Grove born on May 22, 1914, in Baltimore, Md., and went to her heavenly home on Nov. 7, 2005, at 6:30 a.m. She was 91 years old.

She moved to Silver Hill, Md. at age 7. She was joined in marriage to Llewellyn “Lew” Maitland Heigham on Nov. 4, 1932, in Oxon Hill, Md., and then moved to Tempe Hill, Md. They had two children.

In 1954 they moved to Ava, where they lived happily for many years. “Nimie” also volunteered at the Chastains Nursing Home in Ava for over 20 years, leading a discussion group and writing letters for the residents. She and Lew were the Bell Makers from Back Acres for many years. Lew made his own models and poured while “Nimie” did all the painting by hand. They have bells all over the world. She also was a member of the Women’s Methodist Group.

She was a charter member of St. Francis Anglican Church of Ava where she and Father Lew spent many happy hours with their friends. She and Fr. Lew moved to Marshfield in 2001 to live with their daughter and her husband, Nickie and Norman Jones. There she resided until her heavenly death by her parents, her husband Fr. Lew in 2004, one sister, Juanita Pyles, and a granddaughter, Twana Lee Jones.

Her survivors include one son and wife, Llewellyn M. Heigham Jr. and Ella Jean, of St. Louis; and one daughter and husband, Nickie and Norman Jones, of Marshfield; seven grandchildren, Nikki Chaffin, David Jones, John Paul Jones, Paula English, Angela Gillis, Juanita Heigham and Llewellyn Heigham III; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many friends and loved ones.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at the St. Francis Anglican Church in Ava, with the Father Glen Hartley officiating. Her body was gifted to the University of Missouri Medical Center, Columbia.

Arrangements are conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.

James Thomas “Jim” Wilson, 61

James Thomas Wilson, son of James Henry Wilson and Dorothy Thomas Wilson, was passed away on Nov. 22, 2005 in Ava, at the age of 61.

Jim was a resident of the Ava area for the past four years moving from Lebanon, where he worked for Wal-Mart. On October 10, 1992 Jim and Nancy Green were united in marriage in Lebanon. He served his country in the Army Reserves. Jim enjoyed fishing, boat riding, camping and playing pool.

He was preceded in born Oct. 13, 1924 in McClurg, the son of James Jason Jennings and Carrie (Jones) Jennings, and departed this life on Nov. 29, 2005 in Springfield, at the age of 81.

Lloyd was a lifelong resident of the McClurg area where he lived on the family farm. On Nov. 28, 1947, Lloyd and Louise Mitchell were united in marriage in Harrison, Ark. To this union two daughters were death by his parents and two brothers.

His survivors include his wife, Louise, of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Becky and Randall Cummings, and Linda and Lonnie Combs, all of Brown Branch; five grandchildren, Shelly, Stacey, Justin, Marlana and Mitch; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Gray, of Nebraska, and Wanda Christensen, Vacaville, Calif.; one brother, Orville Jennings, Roseville, Calif.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Bill Austin officiating. Cemetery, with full military service by the American Legion Post 112 and VFW Post 5993.

Visitation will be today (Thursday) from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral Home. The family requests memorials to Gideons International or the American Diabetes Association.

Jane Maxine Curtis, 91

Jane Maxine Curtis, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher and photo journalist, Born in Oklahoma on Dec. 22, 1913, Maxine lived in Springfield and Hoxie, Ark., before moving to Willow Springs where she lived for over 60 years.

Maxine was an active member of the United Methodist Church for over 75 years, a member of the United Methodist Women, a Sun-day school teacher and a promoter of international projects benefiting those in need. She was a strong-willed individual with a deep faith and a sense of purpose for her life.

A lifelong learner and teacher, Maxine taught in one-room schools after graduating from high school and completing a year of teacher preparation.

death by her son, Danny, and husband, Edgar; her parents, Mitch and Nora Quinn; two sisters and four brothers.

In 1999 Maxine was honored as a Gold Star Mother in recognition of the death of her son, Danny, in Korea in 1974.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the United Methodist Committee on Overseas Relief (UMCOR) in care of The United Methodist Church, 311 North Har-ris, Willow Springs, MO 65793.
