Leonard Kropp, age 78, married Donna Silvey, also of Ava. He was a retired Wal-Mart truck driver.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Donna, of Lampe, MO, three daughters and a son-in-law, Marilyn Richardson of Jefferson City, Carolyn Kropp of Lampe, and Marsha Williams, and husband, Eugene, of Thompson’s Station, Tenn., and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, July 30, at 10:00 at the Ava born July 11, 1925, near Seymour. He departed this life Friday, July 21, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, at the age of 81.
On Feb. 11, 1947 he was united in marriage to Velma Louise Chase and to this union three daughters and one son were death by his parents; his wife, Velma, on November 27, 1999; and two daughters, Sandra and Yvone.
Ivan is survived by a daughter, Joy Fender, and her husband, Rocky, of Galena; a son, David Miller, and his wife, Connie, of Grovespring; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was married, they made their home in the Hartville community except for two years when they lived in the state of Washington.
Ivan had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
He centered his life around his family and the farm and greatly enjoyed being outdoors, coon hunting, fishing, and brush hogging. He also loved going out to restaurants with his family and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Holman-Howe Chapel, Hartville, with the Rev. Jack Dedmon officiating. Burial was in New Grove passed away July 30, 2006, at 8:35 a.m. in Quail Creek Nursing Home, Springfield. He was married in Liberal, Kan. He retired from working in various vocations at the age of 65. He was ordained as a minister on May 29, 1954 at Y Freewill Baptist Church in Douglas County. He was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church. He loved to sing gospel songs and do recitations by memory. His favorite one was, “What Heaven Means to Me.” He pastored Plad, Hercules and Bethel Churches.
Walter is preceded in Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity or to Friendship Freewill Baptist Church.
Martha Jane Johnson, 88

Martha Jane Johnson, age 88, Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 in James River Care Center.
She was united in marriage to Raymond Johnson on March 18, 1937 and to this union four children were death by her parents and four brothers.
Her survivors include loving husband of 69 years, L. Raymond; son, Lloyd Edward Johnson and wife, Joyce, of Ava; daughters Sue Swearengin of Overland Park, Kan., Linda Johnson of Covington, La., and Becky McBride, of Springfield; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; six siblings and their families; numerous other loving relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 29, at 11 a.m. at Thieme-Shadel Cemetery, in Douglas County.
Eugene Earnest Bishop, 71

Eugene (Gene) Earnest Bishop born on Nov. 23, 1934, in Coldsprings, Mo. Gene was united in marriage to Elaine Shinpaugh on June 2, 1955, in Ava, and to this union two children were death by his parents, Elmer and Irene, and a bother, Robert.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine, of Camdenton; a son, Eugene and wife, Suzy, of Osage Beach; a daughter, Sandy and husband, Rex Sparrow, of Eastborough, Kan.; grandchildren, Satina Hatch, Cassie, Branda, Darian Bishop, Colby and Savanna Sparrow.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Don Graham officiating. Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 112 and VFW Post 5993. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Gerard Patrick (Pat) Greeley, 71

Gerard Patrick “Pat” Greeley, 71, of Ava, born in Springfield, Ill., on Feb. 20, 1935, to James Sr. and Marguerite Greeley. He was employed at Dolly Madison and the Illinois Department of Public Aid before retiring and moving to Ava in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Greeley; children, Greg Greeley, of Peoria, Ill., Lee Rodgers, Ava, Randy Rodgers, Bartlesville, Okla., Cheryl Bruno, Murrayville, Ill., Denise Barofsky, Alto, Mich., Dianne George, Commerce Township, Mich.; special family members, Kevin White, of Bartlesville, Okla., and Jim and Tommie Wilson, of Plainview, Texas; and 13 grandchildren including Jacob and Brenna Rodgers, of Ava.
He was preceded in born July 22, 1947, in Lewellan, Neb., and departed this life Sept. 12, 2006, at the age of 59 years.
Linda was a resident of the Ava area for the past 16 years, moving from Kansas City. She was employed with Mobil Oil Corp. for 17 years.
Linda was united in marriage to Gary Norton in 1966 in Kansas City, and to this union two children were death by her parents.
She is survived by two children, Tina Diane Norton and Chad Richard Norton, both of Ava; one sister, Peggy June Laws, Kansas City; one brother, Thomas P. Dixon, Sheridan, Wyo.; special family, Cliff and Pat Shafer, Ashland, Neb., Bill and Mary Ann Boyer, Kansas City, Eddie Scott, Ava, and very special friend, Bobbie Scott, Ava; several nieces and nephews; a life long friend, Sharon Davis, Kansas City; and a host of other friends.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mark Degase officiating. The family requests memorials to be made to American Cancer Society, Community Hospice or Multiple Sclerosis.
