Basil Vernon Spurlock born on Nov. 12, 1919 in Ava, in the white house across from the public library (2nd house on the right).
In the early 1940s Basil passed away on July 24, 1976, Basil passed away Dec. 23, 2007. He was Cemetery. Following his service in the Army he was employed by the United States Government Federal Bureau of Investigation for three years. He was then employed with All-State Insurance and retired in 1993 after 40 years of employment.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; three sons, Stephen W. Hull and Mary Fitzgerald Hull, Michael C. Hull and wife, Cynthia, and Douglas Hull; one daughter, Jennifer Levine and husband, Eric; grandchildren Stephen Hull, Christine Flam and husband Paul, Mitchell, Jacob and Keith Levine, Samantha and Ashley Hull, Kim Kay and husband Brian, Rose and Jonathan Hull; one great-grandson Brian Kay, Jr.; two brothers, Wayne Hull and wife, Marlene, of Onsted, Mich., James Hull and wife, Nadia, of Oldfield; and two sisters, Betty Thompson, of Bruner, and Winnie Gann and husband Bob, of Oldfield.
He was preceded in born June 24, 1934, in Ava, to Blevins and Faye Percifield. As a child Willard attended the Anchor School in Douglas County. Later, he attended school in Protection, Kan., where he helped his uncle in wheat harvest. After leaving Kansas he moved to Exeter, Calif., where he worked as a migrant worker picking fruits and vegetables.
At the age of 20, he returned to Ava where he met Bonnie Mae Sartor. They were married Kathy Dehart of Grant City, Mo. After spending a short time in Allendale, Willard and Kathy moved to Silvis, Ill., where they lived for 10 years. They returned to Grant City in 1994 where Willard spent the remainder of his life.

Surviving are six children and their spouses, Brenda and Gary Smith, Diagonal, Iowa, Dale Percifield, Allendale, Glenda and Pat Schwienebart, Newton, Iowa, Randy and Cindy Percifield, Delphos, Iowa, Kevin and LeAnn Percifield, Redding, Iowa, and Kenneth and Stephanie Percifield, Redding, Iowa ; sisters, Delpha Mulvania, Ava, Lois Percifield, Bettendorf, Iowa, Pauline Stout, Norwood, Eldeen Roach, Tingley, Iowa, and Vivian Perreault, Bettendorf, Iowa; a brother, John Percifield, Davenport, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Mo., with Pastor Len Green officiating. Cemetery, Allendale, Mo.

Consuella Robinson, 89

Consuella (Gonsalez) Robinson, daughter of the late Ejino and Maximina (Vasquez) Gonsalez, was death by her parents and her husband, Roy Robinson (1974).
Survivors include her two daughters, Carmelita Tunstall, of Woodridge, Ill., and Mary Lou Buettgen of California; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Ava. Burial will follow in Ava born in California on June 7, 1950, and death by her parents.
Pamela is survived by her daughter, Angela Souder, of Wasola.
Cremation arrangements were conducted by the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home; Ava.

Bearl H. Bruffett Sr., 79, of Milan, Ill., Cemetery, Arsenal Island, Ill.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today (Thursday, March 6) at the funeral home.
Mr. Bruffett was married to Judy Lee Proksch, at Milan, Ill. She preceded him in death were his parents and three brothers, Leonard, Henry and Earl.
Bearl retired in 1985 after 25 years of service to I.H. Farmall in Rock Island, Ill. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes and had attended the world championships over the years. He was also an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman. His favorite fishing hole was at the steel dam in Milan while watching eagles soar.
Survivors include his son, Bearl Bruffett Jr. and wife, Denise, Rock Island, Ill.; daughters, Phyllis Bruffett, Coralville, Iowa, and Penny and her husband, James Obermann, Schaumburg, Ill.; a granddaughter, Kaylee Bruffett, Rock Island, Ill.; three sisters, Pearl (Ted) Casey, Prineville, Ore., Jerlene (Charles) Seeley, Prinveville, Ore., and Erma Lee (Ralph) Madden, Osawatomie, Kan.; and two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Bruffett, The Dalles, Ore., and Norman Bruffett, Prineville, Ore.

Sherman Herd, 76, of Wapato, Wash., born Feb. 6, 1928, in Douglas County, Mo., to Cecil and Lottie Herd. In 1946 he death were his mother, father, two brothers and one sister.
Memorial services were held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Open Bible Christian Center in Yakima, Wash., under the direction of Keith and Keith Funeral Home, with the Revs. Sterlin Marsh and Albert Lantrip officiating. Interment was in Community Memorial Park, Wapato, Wash.
