Jack Herbert Kyle, 78, of Springfield, born in Nottinghill, Mo., on March 12, 1928, to Glennie Kyle and Beulah (Hargis) Kyle. He attended Ava High School until age 17 when he joined the United States Navy. He served four years in the navy, the last two of which were on a hospital ship.
On Nov. 22, 1951, Jack born: Rick Kyle and wife, Michal, Kent Kyle and wife, Jerri Lynn, and Julie Simonson and husband, Tim, all of Springfield. Jack delighted in his grandchildren, Mary Joe, Joshua, Mackenzie, Colton, Adam, and Morgan. Besides his family, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, woodworking, and private aircraft.
For 45 years he served in the life insurance business, the last 20 years with sons Kent and Rick, and office manager Rhonda Baker. His business accomplishments include: first Franklin Life agency, under manager Guy Cowden; professional designation of chartered life underwriter; lifetime member of million dollar round table; past president of the Springfield Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors; Greene County Estate Planning Council; and Springfield Chapter Society of Financial Service Professionals. In the past he had also served as a board member of his church, Christ Church Unity, and a member of Abou Ben Adhem Shrine.
Jack was preceded in funeral service will be held today (Thursday, Sept. 21) at 11 a.m. at Christ Church Unity, under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at the Missouri Veteran’s born Jan. 5, 1919, in Webster County, and departed this life Sept. 23, 2006, at the age of 87.
On June 30, 1937, Leona and John Paul Comer were united in marriage in Douglas County. Leona was a charter member of the Sandy General Baptist Church and was always in attendance. Leona loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and quilting. When she had a little extra time she enjoyed driving her Ford Ranger pickup into town.
Leona is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Frances and Doyle Humbyrd, of Ava, Juanita and Harold Menzies, of Clever, Jeanie and Ron Cummins, of Marshfield; and three sons and their wives, John and Brenda Comer, of Springfield, Bob and Bobbie Comer, of Billings, and Bill and Barbara Comer, of Ava. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Leona was preceded in Cemetery following the service.

Loren M. Sowers, 97

Loren Montgomery Sowers, 97, Mansfield, born Jan. 29, 1908, in Pine River, Minn., the son of Sandford and Annie (Huffman) Sowers.
In 1939, he faced his worst tragedy with the loss of his 13 year old son. A few short months later, his first love Marian and the mother of his son married 38 years before Mary born May 15, 1967, in Branson, and departed this life Sept. 22, 2006, at the age of 39.
On Dec. 30, 1989, Sabrina and Garry D. DeVore were united in marriage in the Baptist Church in Chadwick. Sabrina was a member of the Chadwick Baptist Church and the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association. She loved to ride horses and enjoyed her miniature Doberman Pincher dogs.
Sabrina was preceded in Interment followed in the Chadwick born Jan. 19, 1921, in Ottawa, Kan., to John and Golda (Frost) Roberts. Doris married to Richard Pinckney at Ava in July 1940. They were blessed with three children. For over 25 years they owned and operated the Pinckney Store and Garage in Wasola.
She death by her parents, John and Golda Frost. Also preceding her in death as did a brother, Ivan Roberts, and one stepdaughter, Jane.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Pinckney and Ronald Pinckney and wife, Doris, all of Wasola; one grandson, Tanner Pinckney and wife, Mindy, of Ava; one granddaughter, Misty Souder and husband, Matt, of Wasola; four great-grandchildren, Titus and Cade Pinckney, of Ava, and Alton and Garrett Souder, of Wasola; one brother, Delano Roberts, Kansas; one sister, Leah Moore, Idaho; one sister-in-law, Roxie Roberts, Wasola. Also surviving is one stepson, Jim Stephens; one stepdaughter, Sue; six step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Ava born on Oct. 4, 1930 in Blanche, Mo., and departed this life on Nov. 4, 2006 from a heart attack in Clinton, Mo., at the age of 76.
Robert was a resident of Clinton since 1985, moving from Belton. He grew up in the Ava community in Douglas County. On Nov. 25, 1950, Robert and Betty Jo McDaniel were united in Mountain Home, Ark., and to this union four children were death by his parents; two brothers, Buster and Bill; and one sister, Ruth Hendrix.
Robert is survived by his wife, Betty Jo, of the home in Clinton; four children and their spouses, Linda and Rayford Welch, Ava, Vicki and Terry Ryles, Clinton, Russell and Cynthia Riley, Cleveland, Mo., and Tammie and Jeff Williams, Clinton; eight grandchildren, Robert, Jamie, Earle and Jared Riley, Melinda and Tonya Ryles, and Brittney and Shelby Williams; three great-grandchildren, Deja Lindly, Ava Riley and Kathryn Woods; eight sisters, Anna Adams and Beverly Meredith, both of Independence, Virginia Taylor and Lorene Robertson, both of Mansfield, Evelyn Bagwell, Springfield, Shirley LaVon Twitty, Ash Grove, Ethel Versaw and Luzona Hartin both of Ava; one brother, Carroll Riley, Springfield; a sister-in-law, Shirley Riley, Ava; and host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with the Revs. Tom Johnson and Don Graham officiating. Cemetery. Services were conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Allen Street Baptist Church, Clinton.
