Johnson, "Wally" Wallace
Wallace “Wally” Johnson, age 76 of Sunrise Beach born March 23, 1928 in Essex, Iowa, the son of the late Reuben and Mae Royer Johnson. Wally was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. He started his life in Essex Iowa and lived there until 1954. He then passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at his home. He was married Jean Klindworth Williams, who survives at Gravois Mills. James was a 1973 graduate of Morgan County R-II High School in Versailles and graduated from Southwest Missouri University in 1984. He was a Senior Computer Analyst for Southwestern Bell in Kansas City, and served four years in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Versailles, and enjoyed playing pool and was active in a pool league. He is also survived by three children, Kyler, Jordan, and Allison Williams, of Gravois Mills; his parents, William W. and Dorothy Williams of Versailles; a special friend, Paula Mittan of Kansas City; one brother, Lee Williams and wife Donna, of St. Petersburg, Florida; one sister, Joy Peek and husband Dan, of Columbia, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Versailles, with Rev. Diane Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Versailles passed away Wednesday evening, March 9, 2005 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Missouri State Veterans passed away Thursday evening, March 3, 2005 at the Life Care Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was death on January 11, 1992. Mary and James moved from their forty- acre farm in Latham to Kansas City, Kansas in 1949. Mary was mainly a housewife, taking care of her family. She worked for a while at Midland Manufacturing after her children were older. After James’s death by three sisters, Beulah, Rosa, and Lenora; and two brothers, Ennis and Barney. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 8, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. The family received friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Cemetery near Latham, with grandsons serving as casketbearers. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.

Fred Hickman
Fred Hickman, age 68, of Sunrise Beach, MO., departed this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO. He was born. They moved to a small farm outside of Liberty and with his parents raised cattle, hogs, corn and bailed hay. Fred’s career of 36 years was in the banking field. He started at Kaw Valley State Bank and Merchant Produce. Fred was at First National Bank of Liberty, MO, for many years, starting as a teller, promoted to assistant cashier and then Vice President. He graduated from Wisconsin School of Banking. Fred was involved with Liberty Jaycees and Rotary Club, and also volunteered time as secretary of Salvation Army. He moved to Kearney and was vice president at Kearney Commercial Bank. He retired from banking in 1991 and moved to Clarinda, Iowa, where he and Loretta owned and operated the Clarinda Inn. In 2000, they retired and moved to Sunrise Beach, MO, where they became active with the Osage Community Lodge 2705 Order of Elks in Laurie. Fred was preceded in Cemetery in Liberty. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie, MO.

Dave Sherman
Dave Sherman, age 67, of Laurie, born April 23, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Llewellyn and Mable Strader Sherman. He was united in marriage on June 16, 1962 with Myrna Aeschbacher, who survives of the home. Dave was co-owner of the Golf Cart Division of Sherman Millwork, member of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church, the Versailles Masonic Lodge #320 A.F. & A.M., and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was an avid golfer and member of the Rolling Hills Country Club near Versailles. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Mark Sherman and wife Melanie, of Laurie, and Scott Sherman of Kansas City; one granddaughter, Madisen Sherman; one sister, Darlene Jacoby of Holt; his mother-in-law, Ruth Aeschbacher of Laurie, several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, February 20, at Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie, with Rev. Jim Blue officiating. Cemetery in Laurie. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Dave Sherman Memorial Fund for a Cardiac Chair at Boone Hospital Center or Ozark Chapel United Church Music Department. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

British Alfred Wehrle
British Alfred Wehrle, III, age 53, of Gravois Mills, born November 15, 1951 in Van Nuys, California, the son of Marlin Frances and Winifred Hester Wehrle. He was united in marriage on November 24, 1971 with Barbara Johnson. He was a boilermaker and currently worked at Lake Cultured Marble in Gravois Mills. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wehrle of the home; one son, Carl Wehrle and wife Dusty, of Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughters, Elsie Scott and husband James, of the home, and Daisy Wehrle of the home; one brother, Garry Broomfield of Las Vegas, Nevada; one grandson, Shane Wehrle, many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Cremation will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
