Alice Virginia McComas, 64, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2007, in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at Lawson Cemetery in Lawson. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.

Alice Marie Monnig
Alice Marie Monnig, 78, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2007, at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center. Mrs. Monnig was born on September 18, 1928, in St. Louis, the daughter of Walter and Ellen (Gruner) Mueller. She was married to Paul Monnig on May 14, 1949, in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death in October 1998. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the UMW at the church, both in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Before retiring in 1999 she had worked for the Excelsior Springs License Bureau for over 20 years. Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Ligon, and her husband, Randy; one son, Paul Wayne Monnig; one brother, Walter Mueller, and his wife, Marie, St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Carver, in 2001. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs. Memorial contributions can be given to the First United Methodist Church or the Good Samaritan Center, both in Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Bobbie JoAnn Burnett
Bobbie JoAnn Burnett, 57, Elmira , Mo., passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at her home. Bobbie was born on June 8, 1950 in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Walter and Mearl Marie (Wright) Schick. She was married to Donald Dean Burnett on August 7, 1983 in Excelsior Springs, Mo. He survives of the home. Bobbie was a huge animal lover, especially wolves. She enjoyed cooking and loved having her grandchildren around. She was always willing to help anyone who needed a hand. Besides her husband, Donald, she is also survived by her mother, Mearl Marie Schick, Lathrop; three children, daughter, Janice Marie Burnett, Los Angeles, Calif., son, Donald Burnett II and wife, Angie, Lawson, Mo., and Christal Scobee, Polo; one brother, Bill Schick, Lathrop, Mo.; two sisters, Jearldine Rogers, Gower, Mo., and Sheri Rick, Plattsburg, Mo.; four grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Bobbie was preceded in death by her father. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Polley Funeral Home, Lawson, Mo. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Elmira Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, Diabetes Association or the Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.

Berton Easley
Berton Allen Easley, son of Harry and Ruth Ann Easley, was born, Saturday, November 15, 1930 in Mosby, Mo. He departed this life, Sunday, October 28, 2007, in his home in Climax Springs, Mo., at the age of seventy-six years, eleven months and thirteen days. On September 26, 1976 in Richmond, Mo., he was united in marriage to Lola Jean Aubrey Payne, and together they have shared the past thirty-one years. Berton was raised and went to school in Mosby, Mo., and Missouri City, Mo.
He served his country proudly as Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marines as a tank mechanic and was honorably discharged. After the service, he worked for Haggard Heavy Hauling of Kansas City, Mo., until his retirement. In his spare time, he was a shade tree mechanic extraordinaire. He enjoyed restoring vehicles, gardening, fishing, and bowling. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Berton received the "Very Special Person" award from his children, grandchildren and in-laws. Berton was a loving husband, father, Pa Paw, great-Pa Paw, brother, uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will miss him greatly. Survivors include his wife, Lola Jean Easley, of the home; six children, Gary Allen Norris and wife, Karen, Excelsior Springs, Mo., Linda Gail Smith and husband, John, Climax Springs, Mo., Donald L. Payne and wife, Nita, Lawson, Mo., Sheila R. Seek and husband, Steve, Richmond, Mo., Ruth J. Ballew and husband, David, Richmond, Mo. and Robert K. Payne, Richmond, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, William "Bill" Easley and Wayne Easley; nieces, Rita Hodges, Linda Robb and husband, Darrell, Connie Hayes and husband, DeWayne, and Jane Downer; numerous other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bob and Reuben V. Easley, and a sister, Betty Knox. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2007 in Ozark Bethel Chapel Assembly of God with Reverend Alonzo Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of the service. A second service will be held 1 p.m.,Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Polley Funeral Home, Richmond, Mo., with burial to follow at Missouri City Cemetery at Missouri City, Mo. Memorial donations may be made to the Ozark Bethel Chapel Assembly of God Church or the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association and may be left at the funeral home.

Cyndia E. Downs
Cyndia Elaine Downs, 55, of rural Richmond, Mo., passed away Thursday, October 18, 2007, in her home and has gone to loving arms that will hold her close and love her. Especially Mom, who Cyndia has missed so much. Born June 5, 1952 in rural Orrick, Mo., she was the daughter of George and Bessie E. (Covey) Coleman. Cyndia was a lifetime factory worker, a most beloved sister and was always lending a hand to help. Always giving. She had a great love for her nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and everyone she touched. She enjoyed reading, watching game shows and playing marbles and cards. She especially loved spending time with her family, including two very special nieces, Jessica and Jennifer Coleman. Surviving are one sister, Judy Woods, of Henrietta; three brothers, Donald Cochran and Tim Coleman, both of Richmond, and James Coleman, Warsaw; and several nieces and nephews. She was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Polley Funeral Home, 122 W. North Main, Richmond. The Rev. Mike Polo will officiate. Graveside services and burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Macedonia Cemetery in Osceola, Mo. Visitation will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Polley Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends at that time. Memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Caroline Moore
Caroline Moore, 64, Lathrop, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at the Liberty Hospital. Caroline was born on May 7, 1943, the daughter of Frank and Venus (Pierson) Moore. She had worked for Gilmore Plastics in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Survivors include a daughter, Angie Smith Lathrop, Mo., two sisters, Nadine Brown and Wilma Moore, Excelsior Springs, Mo., one brother, Denny Moore, Maryville, Tenn., and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Betty Bennett and Joyce Leeka. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2007, at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home.

Donna L. Kephart
Donna L. Kephart, 62, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Liberty Hospital. Donna was born on February 14, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Maurice and Lois (Thompson) Meyers. She was married to Robert Kephart on June 11, 1962 in Liberty, Mo. She was a LMA for the Westbrook Nursing Home in Kearney, Mo. She loved spending time with her family and her dog, Zoe. She also enjoyed garage sales, collecting baskets and dolls. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bob Kephart; two sons, Rusty Kephart and his wife, Debbie, El Dorado Springs, Mo., Tony Kephart and his wife, Gabrielle, Orrick, Mo.; one daughter, Angela Birkeness and her husband, Brian, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; her mother, Lois Meyers, Holt, Mo.; two sisters, Barbara Pearman, Holt, Mo., and Linda Crookshanks, Holt, Mo.; one brother, Richard Meyers, Holt, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, Megan, Alan, Russell, Kuliath, James, Jeff, Deaira, Derrick, Emily, Sean, Michael, Quinton, Noah; one great-granddaughter, Vanessa, and two more on the way, and her beloved Cocker Spaniel, Zoe. Donna was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Meyers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo. There is no scheduled visitation, however friends may call anytime between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet, Kearney, Mo. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association.

Dorys A. Wilson
Dorys Ann Wilson passed into the arms of our Heavenly Father on October 27, 2007 in Independence, Mo. She began her life journey June 7, 1934 in West Plains, Mo., a joyous gift to Elder Ray and Oda Downen. Dorys grew up loving nature and family life. She shared this passion with a dashing young soldier, Kenneth W. Wilson, Sr., whom she married on October 11, 1952. She faithfully kept the home fires burning while he served in the Korean War. They soon became a family with the birth of Debra Irene, Kenneth Walter, Jr., Veronica Denise and Stephanie Yvonne. Dorys loved being a homemaker, a volunteer in her children’s school activities, traveling and gardening. Once her children were grown Dorys reentered the workforce at the Internal Revenue Service where she grew her career from the mailroom to management. She also developed many friendships at her job which she cherished all her days. She retired from the IRS to spend more time with her husband and grandchildren. Dorys had six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren whom she adored. Dorys and Kenneth loved to visit the Snowy Range and Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. They also shared a strong faith in God and tried to make the world a better place. Dorys is survived by Kenneth Wilson, Sr., her husband of 55 years. She is also survived by son Kenneth W. Wilson, Jr., and his wife, Sybille Wilson, Bates City, Mo; daughter, Veronica D. Wilson, Hastings, Fla.; and daughter, Stephanie Lasister and her husband, Robert Lasister, Blue Springs, Mo. She is also survived by granddaughters, Wendi Crawley, Autumn Dee, Nikki Wilson, Meghan Lasister, grandsons, Dustin Wilson and Calvin Lasister, and great-grandsons, Andrew and Robert Crawley and James Wilson. Funeral services will be held at the Old New Garden Church, 12764 Hwy O, Wood Heights, Mo., at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2007. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. The family has suggested memorials to Kansas City Hospice. Arrangements under the direction of Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.

Edgar L. Clay
Edgar L. Clay, 57, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away on Friday, May 11, 2007, at his home. Edgar was born on September 17, 1949, in Excelsior Springs, Mo., the son of Edgar E. and Nellie (Martin) Clay. On November 25, 1975, he was united in marriage to Sandra Ball. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. Edgar was a Master Electrician. He had worked for Gilmore Manufacturing for 24 years and then General Mill for five years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge and Vets Club, all of Excelsior Springs, Mo. Edgar is survived by his wife, Sandra Clay, of the home, his sister, Joyce Driver, step-son, Craig Kennedy, step-daughter, Sheila Kennedy, all of Excelsior Springs, Mo., several nieces and nephews, two grandsons, Christopher Patrick and Riley James McMillen. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty and Donna. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Polley Cemetery.

Edith "Hope" Clevenger
Edith "Hope" Clevenger, 77, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the KU Medical Center. Hope was born on October 3, 1929, in Avendale, Mo., the daughter of Samuel Arthur and Clara Mae (Creason) Still. She was married on November 22, 1947 to Clarence E. "Gene" Clevenger. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was of the Assembly of God Denomination. Hope is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Clarence E. "Gene" Clevenger, of the home; daughter, Sharon Brand and her husband, Eddie, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; two sons, Rick Clevenger and his wife, Goshetta, Excelsior Springs, Mo., and David Clevenger and his wife, Kathy, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; four sisters, Viola Clevenger, Excelsior Springs, Mo., Virginia Johnson, Pleasant Valley, Mo., Margaret Harrison, Plattsburg, Mo., and Mary Shelor, Stover, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Alice Still; 12 grandchildren, Edie Bisby, Eddie Brand, Bill Brand, Kelley Teegarden, Kim Reynolds, Chance Clevenger, Latisha Shoemaker, Chris Clevenger, Allan Lester, Amy Lester, Ashley Lester, Austin Lester; 15 great-grandchildren, Terah Collins, Jamie Bisby, Jessica and Madeline Brand, Ashleigh and Dylan Brand, Trenton and Tanner Teegarden, RJ and Rebekah Reynolds, Elliot, Kyle, and Andrew Shoemaker, Morgan and Madison Clevenger; one great-great-grandchild, Alexa Gonzales; and one special friend, considered family, Robert Pliler. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Jake, and one sister, Lottie. Funeral services will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2007, at Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family will recieve friends from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2007, at the funeral home, however friends may call anytime Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the North New Garden Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Frances Myrtle Crawford
Frances Myrtle Crawford, 87, Missouri City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007, in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Frances was born August 31, 1919, in Dairmonte, Ark., the daughter of John and Sarah (Blissit) Chadwick. In 1954, Frances married Chester L. Crawford, starting her life as a loving homemaker. She was a member of the Missouri City Baptist Church. Frances was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Frances is survived by husband, Chester L. Crawford, of the home; daughter, Sarah Reynolds, Rayville, Mo.; son, Chester Leroy Crawford, Douglas, Kans.; brothers, Charles Leroy Chadwick, Lawson Mo., and Grover C. Preston, Jr., Little Rock, Ark.; sisters, Mattie Pearl Wilkins, Arkansas, and Vivian Irene Wilkins, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pamela Jean Turner; daughter, Sarah Magdalene Sidwell; great grandson, Ray Reynolds; sisters, Rosie Imogene Wilkerson and Lillie Mae Ball; also three nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007, at the Missouri City Baptist Church, Missouri City, Mo. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2007, at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley, Mo.

Geneva Delores Burchett
Geneva Delores Burchett, 75, Richmond, Mo., passed away Thursday, May 3, 2007, at the Shirkey Nursing & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2007, at the Polley Funeral Home, Richmond, Mo. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Oak Hill Cemetery Kingsport, Tenn. Mrs. Burchett was born on May 31, 1931, in Kingsport, Tenn., the daughter of John and Mary Helen (Martin) McClellan. She was married to Albert Burchett on August 7, 1982. He preceded her in death. Before retirement she was a teacher. She enjoyed gardening and dancing. Survivors include two grandchildren, Teresa Olson, Richmond, Mo., and Shawn Ridge, Marshall, Mo. and nine great grandchildren.

Harvey L. Dildine
Harvey Lee Dildine, 77, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Friday, October 26, 2007, at North Kansas City Hospital. He was born September 23, 1930 in Siloam Springs in Benton County, Mo., the son of Joseph L. and Mary N. (Griffin) Dildine. On February 14, 1981 at Liberty, Mo., he was married to Carol Ann Dalberg, who survives. Mr. Dildine was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954. He worked as a truck driver for Allied Systems before his retirement in 1994 after 30 years of employment. He had previously worked as a farmer and still enjoyed working outdoors. Harvey had served as an Alderman of Homestead Village and street superintendent. He enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and in general was a jack of all trades. Besides his wife, also surviving are six children, Donald Dildine, Yuma, Ariz., Barbara Jones, Lone Pine, Calif., Cynthia Spade, Yuma, Ariz., Ronald Dildine, Mesa, Ariz., Harla Wardles, Fayetteville, Ariz., and Kimberly Bowen, Omaha, Neb.; step-children, Jolynn Garcia, Michael Brown, Christine Niccoli and Sam Skidmore; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law and many friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs with military rites. Cremation. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to the church. Arrangements under the direction of Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo.

John Dungan
John Ferguson Dungan, 71, Lawson, Mo., passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital. John was born on July 25, 1936, in Kerr, Mo., the son of George Ferguson and Katherine Anna (Weber) Dungan. John served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He married Connie Porter on February 9, 1996. She survives of the home. John was a member of the Excelsior Springs VFW # 741, 101 Operating Engineers and the Grace Family Worship Center. He enjoyed farming and gardening. Besides his wife, he is also survived by three sons, Scott Dungan and his wife, Loretta, Lawson, Mo., Joe Dungan and his wife, Sandy, North Kansas City, Mo., and Richard Porter, Gladstone, Mo.; three daughters, Lynn Buchanan and husband, Tim, Atlanta, Ga., Jana Vermillion and her husband, Paul, Crystal Lakes, Mo., and Kimberly Kromeich and her husband, Chris, Liberty, Mo.; three sisters, Doris Mann, Kearney, Mo., Ruby Hafner, Grain Valley, and Georgia Stout and her husband, Ronnie, Kansas City, Mo.; 9 grandchildren, Megan Dungan, Jonathan Dungan, Katelyn Buchanan, Sarah Dungan, Collin Dungan, Logan Vermillion, Ethan Vermillion, Gracie Porter and Tyler Kromeich, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Dungan; six sisters, Leona Barnes, Opal Wilson, Pauline Shaney, Mary Decot, Dorothy O'Brian and Evelyn, who died in infancy. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 1, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Polley Funeral Home, Lawson, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Old Union Christian Union Church, Lawson, Mo. Burial will be in the Lawson Cemetery.
