Thomas L. Gilmore
Thomas Lewis Gilmore, 81, of Lawson, Mo., passed away Monday, November 12, 2007 at his home. Born March 2, 1926 in Monett, Mo., he was the son of Carl and Mable (Greenway) Gilmore. On July 10, 1944 in Mt. Vernon, Mo., he was married to Billie Jean Jones, who survives of the home. Mr. Gilmore was retired from Consolidated Freightways. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, playing horseshoes and a love for the outdoors. He was a member of the Lawson Baptist Church for 35 years, where he served as a deacon and also helped with the Royal Ambassadors. He will be missed by his family and friends. In addition to his wife, also surviving are four daughters, Linda Hill, Garden City, Mo., Joyce Walters, Spring Hill, Kans., Karen Montavy, Grain Valley, Mo., and Janice Jones, Independence; one son, Lewis Gene Gilmore, Lawson; two sisters, Margaret Robison, Kansas City, and Mandy Ellen Ball, Aurora, Mo.; three brothers, David Gilmore, Lloyd Gilmore and George Gilmore, all of Verona, Mo.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lilly Bell Zinc, and one brother, Robert Gilmore. A memorial service will be held Thursday evening, November 15, 2007 at 7 p.m., at the Polley Funeral Home, Lawson, Mo. Burial will be at a later date at Polley Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Thelma Wilson
Thelma Frances Wilson passed away October 14, 2007 at the Royal Care Center, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Thelma was born on September 14, 1913, the daughter of Joseph C. and Nellie Thompson. She married Lawrence Wilson on October 13, 1934. She was a member of Canaan Hill Church of the Nazarene, Lawson, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister and a son-in-law. She is survived by her daughters, Leah Frances Smith and Nella Jo (Junior) Smith, Lawson, Mo.; brother, Clyde Thompson, Clovis, Calif.; sisters, Josephine (Warren) Crisman, Lathrop, Mo., Martha Nell Crippen, Butler, Mo., and Mary Elizabeth Ashby, Linn, Mo.; two grandchildren, Phillip Smith and Joanna (Donovan) Miller; two great-grandchildren, Clayton and Declan Miller, Lawson, Mo.; numerous nephews and nieces, great and great-great nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at the Polley Funeral Home, Lawson, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Kearney, Mo. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Excelsior Springs Hospice, 1700 Rainbow Blvd., Excelsior Springs, Mo. 64024.

William Brandon Craven
William Brandon Craven, 50, Mosby, Mo., passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2007, at the Kansas City Veteran's Hospital. William was born on April 28, 1956, in Excelsior Springs, Mo., the son of Elmer Eugene and Mary Lois (Parker) Craven. He was married to Kathrena Cox on April 5, 2007 in Kansas City, Mo. William served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1974-1978. He was a laborer technician for the Sterilizer Co. He was a Christian. Survivors include his wife, Kathrena "Kathy" Craven, Mosby, Mo.; his mother, Mary Lois Kennell, Alamo, Texas.; one son, Brandon William Craven, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; three daughters, Jamie Lynn Craven, Vacaville, Calif., Andrea Larson and Charlene Williams, both of Silverton, Ore.; one brother, Jewell Craven, Polo, Mo.; two sisters, Sheila Miller, Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Sharla Craven, Panama City Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2007, at the New Garden Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Arrangements under the direction of Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Audrey Bland
Audrey Fern Bland, 87, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Monday, February 18, 2008 at the Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Audrey was born on June 25, 1920, the daughter of Charlie and Rhoda (Smith) Hutchings. On June 26, 1961 she married Lonnie C. Bland. He preceded her in death in 1985. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert K. Hutchings, in 2004. She is survived by cousins. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family will receive friends from 10 until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday prior to services at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Anna Marie Schneider
Anna Marie (Ann) Costigan Schneider, 75, Rayville, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008 in Spring Hill, Kans. Ann was born November 16, 1932 to Teresa and John Costigan of Ottawa, Kans., the second of five children. Ann was an animal lover her whole life, from bunny rabbits to cats, dogs and horses. Ann grew up in Kansas City, Kans., graduating from St. Rose of Lima Grade School and Bishop Ward High School. Ann was a talented artist and had a beautiful soprano voice. She sang in church choirs her while life, soloing at many weddings. She married Joseph Donald Schneider in 1966. They were married for 37 years, until Don's death in 2003. Ann and Don bought their dream house in the country, in Rayville, Mo., naming it the Double Bar S Ranch. Ann immediately bought her first horse. After attaining eighth in seniority worldwide at TWA, Ann decided to retire after 48 years of faithful service as an executive secretary. Ann then decided to raise Maltese dogs, being that the Double Bar S Ranch was already a haven for homeless cats and dogs. Ann will be dearly missed by her friends and relatives. She is survived by brothers, Richard Costigan, S.J. of Loyola University, Chicago, Ill., and Joseph Costigan, Spring Hill, Kans; sisters, Dorothy Mulik, Neosho, Mo., and Pat Komer, Spring Hill, Kans.; nine nieces and nephews; 14 great nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Jill, Adam and Dandy. Ann had a religious view of life, and this was shown in one of her favorite sayings, "If God brings you to it, God will bring you through it". A funeral mass for Ann is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2008 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1503 Tracy, Excelsior Springs, Mo. A visitation and wake will be held Friday evening between 5 and 6:30 p.m., also at the church. Burial will take place at Resurrection North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to either the Hospice of Kansas or your choice of Catholic charities. Arrangements under the direction of Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Billy Jack Keefhaver
Billy Jack Keefhaver, 84, Holt, Mo., passed away Sunday, February 3, 2008 at
his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Keehaver was born on December 15, 1923 in Ferrelview, Mo., the son of Charles M. and Anna (Odessa) Keefhaver, the youngest of seven children. Bill served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and retired from the Missouri State Highway Patrol as a Commercial Vehicle Inspector. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member. He was also an active farmer until his death. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lorraine; one son, David Keefhaver and his wife, Donna, Holt, Mo.; two daughters, Theresa Ousby and husband, Jesse, Holt, Mo., and Virginia Hill and husband, Michael, Independence, Mo.; six
grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and two brothers. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. prior to mass at the church. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Resurrection North Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to St. Ann Catholic Church, Excelsior Springs, Mo., where he was a member for 57 years. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Beverly Kay Parrish
Beverly Kay Parrish, 54, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008 at her home in Richmond, Mo. Beverly was born October 14, 1953 in Frankfurt, Germany, to parents Kenneth and Rosalie (Dodd) Parrish, who preceded her in death. She worked most of her life as an exceptional hairstylist and, in 1974, married David Rudy. Beverly is survived by daughter, Lisa Lynn Beatty and husband, Gene, Richmond, Mo.; grandson, Shawn Rudy, Richmond, Mo.; sisters, Ann Mazzarella and husband, Joe, Scottsdale, Ariz., Kathleen Parrish, Riverside, Mo., and Velma Hattox, Leavenworth, Kans.; brothers, Kenneth W. Parrish and wife, Doreen, Kansas City, Mo., and Richard L. Foos, Leavenworth, Kans. Funeral services for Beverly are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2008 at the Second Baptist Church in Richmond, Mo. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Gladstone, Mo. Arrangements under the direction of Polley Funeral Home, Richmond, Mo.

Clyde Conner
Clyde Page Conner, 90, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Excelsior Springs Medical Center. Born September 17, 1917 in Ray County, Mo., he was the son of George Lilburn and Bessie Dean (Page) Conner. On April 6, 1940 in Richmond he was united in marriage to Daisy Marie Clevenger, who survives. They have been married for 67 years. Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth E. Conner, Lee's Summit, and Leonard W. Conner, Washington, D.C.; two grandsons, Brett Page Conner and Robert J. Conner; two great-grandchildren, Scott Conner and Lydia Conner; one brother, Henry "Hank" Conner, Ft. Worth, Texas; two sisters, Ethel Ashton, Coos Bay, Ore., and Patsy Bryan, Rolling Mountain Park, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Mr. Conner was the owner and operator of Conner Plumbing and Heating for over 30 years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of the I.O.O.F, had been involved with the Boy Scouts and was a member of Flack Memorial Church, where he had served on the board of trustees. He enjoyed living in the country and tending to his garden. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at 2 p.m., at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Old New Garden Cemetery in Excelsior Springs with military rites.

Carolyn Leslie
Carolyn Sue "Carol" Leslie, age 55, of Richmond, Mo., passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kans. She was born May 3, 1952 at Excelsior Springs, Mo., the daughter of Charles Dewey and Nina Lou (Rowland) Lewis. On September 24, 1999 at Richmond, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Lavern Leslie who survives. She was also the mother of Jennifer Neff and husband, Tony, Richmond, and Rachael Hayson. Additional survivors include her mother, Nina Lewis, Richmond; two brothers, Michael Lewis and wife, Pam, and Donald Lewis, all of Richmond; three grandsons, Thomas "Michael", Colin and Kyle; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Cruzen, Concordia, Kans.; a step-son, Kevin Leslie, Richmond, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her father, Charles Lewis, on September 27, 2007, and one brother, Steven Lewis, in infancy. Carol had worked at O'Reilly Auto Parts for several years and had also worked as a waitress. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, fishing and loved to travel. She was always willing to help others. She was a member of New Hope Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Polley Funeral Home in Richmond, Mo. The services will be concluded at the funeral home. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

"Teddy" Pantleo
Clella Ann "Teddy" Pantleo, 75, of Lawson, Mo., passed away Friday, December 21, 2007 at Liberty Hospital. Born February 28, 1932 in Kansas City, she was the daughter of Clell Thomas and Virgil Marie (Wasmer) Rice. On February 5, 1955 in Kansas City she married Phil Pantleo, Jr., who survives, her husband of nearly 53 years. She is also survived by four children, LeeAnn Raulie and husband, Larry, Hastings, Neb., David Pantleo and wife, Brenda, Springfield, Mo., Russell Pantleo and Wayne Foster, Washington, D.C., and Michael Pantleo and wife, Jennifer, Lawson; nine grandchildren, Zach, Evan, Rachel, Josh, Justin, Danielle, Phillip, Andrea and Eric; two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Leighton; one sister, Patricia Switzer, Sunnyvale, Calif., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Teddy was raised in Kansas City and was a 1950 graduate of Paseo High School. Before her marriage she was employed by First National Bank for several years. Following their marriage, Teddy and Phil moved to a farm at Trenton, Mo., where they lived three years before returning to Kansas City. In 1961 they moved to Lawson where they were engaged in farming and she also was a homemaker. Teddy was involved in many community groups and activities in the past and was active in the Divine Stitchers and friends card club and a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. Her interests included quilting, sewing, gardening, camping, traveling, fishing and cooking and most of all spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs. Burial will be in the Lawson Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday after 2 p.m. at the Polley Funeral Home, Lawson, Mo., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Benedictine Sisters of the Queen of Angels Monastery, 23615 NE 100th Street, Liberty, MO 64068

Cecil Lloyd Sharp
Cecil Lloyd Sharp Sr., 94, passed away at Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007. Cecil was born Sept. 16, 1913, at the Sharp family farm north of Elmira, Mo., to Archie Sharp and Helen Francis Sturgis Sharp. Cecil was a veteran of World War II, and a founder and life member of VFW Post #6278 in Lawson, Mo. He served as Alderman from the west ward in Lawson, and was a member of the Clay County Civil Defense. He was a Scoutmaster in Lawson for many years. He was a member of the United Christian and Presbyterian Church, and faithfully attended until he entered the nursing home in January 2005. He was a member of the Bricklayers Local Union #4 and a master bricklayer. Camping and fishing were favorite pastimes after Cecil retired from bricklaying. Many years were spent at Pomme de Terre Lake. He enjoyed the many friends in his camping club and the trips they took together. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50-plus years, Veldora (Teegarden) Sharp; sons, Cecil Sharp Jr. and Wilbur Sharp; daughter-in-law, Beverly Sharp; brothers, Garland, Glenn, Earl and Lester Sharp; and one sister, Ivanell Acklin. He is survived by four grandchildren. Randy (Amy) Sharp of St. Joseph, Mo., Scott (Tracy) Sharp of Albuquerque, N.M., Brian Sharp of Hollywood, Calif., and Cheryl Banks of Olathe, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Merline Sharp of Liberty, Mo.; sister, Thelma Arnoldia of Olathe, Kan.; five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Aaron and Tim Banks, and Lindy, Abby and Nora Sharp; two nephews; and eight nieces. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the United Christian and Presbyterian Church in Lawson, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Polley Funeral Home in Lawson, Mo. Burial will be in the Lawson Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the United Christian and Presbyterian Church or to Lawson VFW Post #6278.

Clyde Tesam
Clyde "Te" Tesam, age 73, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008 in the Excelsior Springs Medical Center. Born January 14, 1935 in Campo, Calif., he was the son of Marcello and Sadora Brown Tesum. On February 19, 1971 in Winterhaven, Calif., he was married to Donna Delano who survives of the home. Also surviving are a son, Rick Tesum, Leesville, La.; one daughter, Gina Tesam Reading, Alpine, Calif.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter. Clyde was a 1953 graduate of Grossmont High School. Following graduation he went to work for the National Forest Service. He then entered the United States Marine Corp, serving for 15 years obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He was later employed by DataGraphics before retiring in 1978 and he and his family moved to Excelsior Springs at that time. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting telephones, pewter Indians and Native American art. He also enjoyed working in his yard, and doing exercise, especially walking. Clyde was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Excelsior Springs. Visitation will be prior to the church service at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the Polley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs.

Cleda Spurbeck
Cleda Belle Spurbeck, 94, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Valley Manor, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Mrs. Spurbeck was born on July 8, 1913 in Holt, Mo., the daughter of Dayton and Emma (Ebay) Mick. She was married to John Nicholson. He preceded her in death in 1960. She then married George Spurbeck who also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Rebecca's Lodge and Vets Club. Survivors include four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert J. Nicholson, and one daughter, Inice Marie Bales. Private Immediate Burial took place in the Muddy Fork Cemetery, Holt, Mo. Arrangements under the direction of Polley Funeral Home Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Carol Moore
Carol Ann Moore, 24, Polo, Mo., passed away Monday, December 3, 2007 at her home. Carol was born on March 12, 1983 in San Jose, Calif. Survivors include her mother and step-father, Elizabeth and Wade Oswald, Polo, Mo.; her father, Eugene Moore, Mississippi; two children, Kristopher and Brianna Moore, both of Cowgill, Mo.; one sister, Tanya Oswald, St. Joseph, Mo.; two brothers, Art Oswald, and Sean Oswald and wife, Christene, all of Polo, Mo.; grandparents, Lois Oswald, Excelsior Springs, Mo., Kenneth and Beverly Brown, Liberty Lake, Wash., Art and Carol Oglesby, Waterford, Calif.; and paternal grandparents and other family family members in Detroit, Mich., and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007, at the Prairie Ridge Baptist Church, Polo, Mo. Burial will be in the Prairie Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Polley Funeral Home, Lawson Mo. A memorial fund for the children has been established in care of the Polo Fire Department.

Donald Cochran
Donald E. Cochran, 59, of "Pa and Shorty's Animal Farm", Richmond, Mo., passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at his home. Donald was born on September 12, 1948 in Orrick, Mo., the son of James Curtis and Bessie Elizabeth (Covey) Cochran. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for several years. He and his wife, Karen, were married on May 24, 2002, in Richmond, Mo. He enjoyed his animal farm, camping, fishing, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially pulling them around in the pasture. Survivors include his wife, Karen, of the home; two daughters, Tracy Jones and husband, Robbie, Osceola, Mo., and Donna Clark and husband, Chuck, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; one step-son, Buddy Johnson, Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Judy Woods and husband, Bob, Henrietta, Mo.; brother, Tim Coleman, Richmond, Mo.; sisters, Penny Winfrey and husband, Stanley, Osceola, Mo., and Debbie Walker, Oklahoma City, Okla.; six grandchildren, Ashley Clark, Jeff Cochran, Tabitha Jones, Robbie Jones, Abby Johnson, and Ashley Johnson and one great-granddaughter, Joslyn Jerome. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007, at the Polley Funeral Home, Richmond, Mo. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bear Creek Cemetery, Osceola, Mo. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Polley Funeral Home, Richmond, Mo.

David G. Hein
David George Hein, 57 of Kansas City, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2007 at North Kansas City Hospital. Born November 17, 1950 in Albany, N.Y., he was the son of George Harold and Beverly June (Theford) Hein. On January 12, 1980, in Platte Woods, he was married to Walla Eileen Vassmer, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Katie Rivers, Kansas City; his father, George Hein, Leavenworth, Kans.; two sisters, Eileen Parks, Leavenworth, Kans., and Heather Hein, Lawrence, Kans.; one brother, Jonathon Hein, Lawrence, Kans.; three grandchildren, Shaylee Rivers, Lorissa Rivers and Janessa Rivers; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother. David lived in many different locations growing up while his father was in the military. He was a 1968 graduate from Leavenworth High School. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Wichita State in December, 1978, and was the Salutatorian of his college graduating class. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. David was also a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Germany during the Vietnam War. For 10 years he worked as a delivery driver for Myers Dairy in Basehor, Kans., and had a delivery route in Missouri. He spent three years with Best Tool and Die in North Kansas City and also with Yellow Cab until 1991. He did volunteer work with Harvester's, Inc. from 1991 to 2006 and in the last few months volunteered at the Don Bosco Senior Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with military rites will be in Enon Cemetery, Excelsior Springs.
