HANNIBAL - Mavis Louise Wright, 84, of Escondido, Calif., and formerly of Hannibal, died at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Escondido Care Center.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Pastor Mark Burkey will officiate. The James O'Donnell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wright was born Jan. 29, 1917, in Decatur, Texas, to William and Mavis Parks Watts.
She was married to Woodrow W. Wright on April 4, 1992, in Hannibal. He preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1992.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Steve LaForce, Tim LaForce, David Parks and Mike Parks; and six great-grandchildren.
The family also would like to include as survivors one son-in-law, Wayne LaForce; and one daughter-in-law, Ursula Parks.
Mrs. Wright was a retired waitress.

Lloyd E. Eppard
Moscow Mills
Oct. 10,1912 - Feb. 10, 2003
TROY - Lloyd E. Eppard, 90, of Moscow Mills, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home in Troy. The Rev. Eugene Rahmier will officiate. Burial will be at Friedens Cemetery in Moscow Mills.
Mr. Eppard was born Oct. 10, 1912, in Lone Jack to Samuel and Catherine Hailey Eppard.
He was married to Iva Eppard on Sept. 23, 1939, in Cameron. She preceded him in death Dec. 21, 1988.
Survivors include his children, Bart (Donna) Eppard of Moscow Mills, Michael Eppard and fiancé, Jan Crugnale, of St. Peters, Jerry (Betty) Eppard of Troy and Bonnie (Duke) Bufford of Radcliff, Ky.; one sister, Zadia Crandall of Phoenix, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Zeke Eppard; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Eppard was a bridge and building foreman for Burlington Northern Railroad and retired in July 1974. He served two terms as mayor of Moscow Mills and was also an alderman.

Stephen Eugene Yates
Clarksville

LOUISIANA - Stephen Eugene Yates, 42, of Clarksville, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the Bethel AME Church in Paynesville. The Rev. Herbert Wommack will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery near Clarksville.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana.
Mr. Yates was born July 6, 1960, in Louisiana to Lionel Eugene Warren and Barbara Yates.
Survivors include his parents, both of Clarksville; one son, Ametrio Levells of Minneapolis, Minn.; three sisters, Sandra Marie Pearl and Shelly Redd, both of Clarksville, and Suzette Michelle Yates of St. Louis; two brothers, Stacey Drew Yates and Scott Jeffrey Yates, both of Clarksville; one granddaughter, Jazmine Levells of Minneapolis; his maternal grandfather, William Yates of Clarksville; six nieces; three nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother; his paternal grandparents; and one uncle.

Pastor Arla Jo Dwight
Hannibal
Aug. 13, 1956 - Feb. 11, 2002
HANNIBAL - Pastor Arla Jo Dwight, 45, of Hannibal, died at 3:58 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Grace Fellowship Church in Hannibal. Pastor Delmar Blase will officiate. Burial will be at Antioch Baptist Cemetery in rural Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.
Mrs. Dwight was born Aug. 13, 1956, in Hannibal to Joseph W. and Bettie L. Haynes Miller.
She was married to Bernard R. Dwight on April 13, 1974, in Hannibal. He survives.
Other survivors include her mother, Bettie L. Miller of Hannibal; one daughter, Sarah Jo Dwight of the home; one son, Justin Bernard Dwight of Hannibal; six brothers, Marvin Miller, Melvin Miller, Mark Miller and Matthew Miller, all of Hannibal, Mike Miller of Griffin, Ga, and Mitchell (Scott) Miller of New London; and one sister, Deborah (Debbie) Keim of Louisiana.
The family wishes to include as a survivor, one daughter-in-law, Angie Dwight of Hannibal.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Mrs. Dwight was a pastor and member of Grace Fellowship Church in Hannibal.
Memorials may be made to Grace Fellowship Church Ministries for the Children's Christmas Shoe Box.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Miller, Melvin Miller, Mike Miller, Matthew Miller, Mark Miller and Mitchell (Scott) Miller.

David Drake
HANNIBAL -­ David Drake, 77, of Hannibal, died at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Levering Regional Health Care Center in Hannibal.
Funeral services are pending at James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Stephen L. Sampson
Vandalia
Nov. 8, 1958 - Feb. 10, 2000
Vandalia - Stephen L. Sampson, 41, of Vandalia, died at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 10, 2000, at his parents home in Vandalia.
Funeral services for Mr. Sampson will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia. The Rev. Marvin Jones will officiate. Burial will be at Vandalia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at Waters Funeral Home.
Mr. Sampson was born Nov. 8, 1958, in Louisiana to John R. and Betty L. Young Sampson.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Bagley of Vandalia; his stepfather, Leroy Bagley of Vandalia; one son, Brent L. Sampson of Vandalia; one daughter, Danielle M. Sampson of Vandalia; two brothers, Harold Bagley of Monroe City and Gary Bagley of Philadelphia; two sisters, Janet Graham and Vickey Bagley of Vandalia; one grandmother, Mary Jacobs of Vandalia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John R. Sampson; and one sister, Melissa Gillman.
Mr. Sampson had served in the U.S. Army.
He was a truck driver for Specialty Express of Columbia until his health prevented him from working any longer.
He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Vandalia.
He was a lifelong Vandalia resident.
Memorials may be made to the Sampson Children Trust Fund or the American Cancer Society.

Louis Eugene Smith
Elsberry
Jan. 10, 1916 -­ Feb. 10, 2001
ELSBERRY -­ Louis Eugene Smith, 85, of Elsberry, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. The Rev. Raymond Doussard will officiate. Burial will be at Elsberry City Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born Jan. 10, 1916, in Hamburg, Ill., to William Abbitt and Neva Turpin Smith.
He was married to Laura Sue Fasse on June 6, 1945, in Elsberry. She survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Albert Eugene Smith and Harry Don Smith, both of Elsberry, Abbitt Lee Smith of Chicago and Raymond Louis Smith of Eolia; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Spencer Smith of Rockport, Ill., and Glen Smith of Pleasant Hill, Ill.; one sister, Halle Barnes of Calhoun County, Ill.; and a special family friend, Cathy Cooper of Elsberry.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Smith and Cleo Smith; and five sisters, Elizabeth Karrot, Eilene Birch, Doris Mae Fulmer, Maxine Windy and Loretta Smith.
Mr. Smith was a farm laborer in eastern Lincoln County for several years before his 1989 retirement.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Smith, David Smith, Steven Smith, Eric Smith, Shawn Smith, Clinton Smith, Don Brandt, Kory Smith, Todd Smith and Kimberly Brandt.

William L. Cox
Canton
Dec. 31, 1921 - Feb. 10, 2000
CANTON ­- William L. Cox, 78, of Canton, died Feb. 10, 2000, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at Davis Funeral Home in Canton. The Rev. Russell Brownell will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at the funeral home.
Mr. Cox was born Dec. 31, 1921, near Canton to Floyd and Agnes Stephenson Cox.
He was married to Dorothy Wolfmeyer in February 1943, and was later married to Dorothy Cowden in October 1966. She preceded him in death in May 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette Buragas of Springfield, Ill., and Betty Langford of Jacksonville, Ill.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother; and one sister.
Mr. Cox started working as a carpenter when he was 21 years of age, owned and operated the coffee shop in Canton for nine years, and also farmed the family farm near Canton. He was of the Protestant faith.
Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospital in Quincy or to the donor's choice.

Hazel M. Harker
Hannibal
Feb. 16, 1930 - Feb. 9, 2004
HANNIBAL - Hazel Mae Reed Harker, 73, of Hannibal, died at 1 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Beth-Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Rev. Richard Hurtgen will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Harker was born Feb. 16, 1930, in Hannibal to John F. and Essie I. Doran Reed.
She was married to Richard L. Harker on Jan. 28, 1950, in Keokuk, Iowa. He survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Elaine Cook and husband, Jim, of Hannibal; one half-brother, Clarence Reed of Hannibal; two brothers, John Reed and wife, Helen, of Hannibal, and Melvin Reed of Denver, Colo.; five sisters, Frances Happel and husband, Earl, of Palmyra, Virginia Flowers and husband, Jerry, of Perry, and Betty Moyers and husband, Bob, Elva Reed and Sheila Flowers, all of Hannibal; three grandchildren, Brad Easley and Angie Cook, both of Hannibal, and Michael Easley or Philadelphia, Pa.; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia; two sisters, Katherine Walley and Ellen Reed; two brothers, Stanley and Earl Reed; and two half-brothers, Eldred and Bernard Reed.
Mrs. Harker was a homemaker and a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church.

Omer Lee Peterson
Foley
Aug. 9, 1909 -­ Feb. 10, 2001
WINFIELD ­- Omer Lee (Cowboy) Peterson, 91, of Foley, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. today at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. The Rev. Bobby Schembre will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi, Ill.
Mr. Peterson was born Aug. 9, 1909, in Ripley County to Oscar Delbert and Martha Elsba Wilson Peterson.
His wife, Georgia Alfreda, preceded him in death. He was later married to Verda (Bea) Dormalee Reese on June 3, 1984, in Doniphan. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Bobby Joe Peterson of Kennett; four daughters, Mildred Lee Gilpin of Carmi, Ill., Marie Imogean Provance of Odessa, Texas, Ruby Gean Peterson of Seguin, Texas, and Eva Mae Campbell of St. Charles; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; his children's mother, Thelma Watson Peterson Wortham of Kennett; and one sister, Lucille Evelyn Bell.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Ray Victor Peterson, John Dean Peterson, Ralph Washington Peterson, George Elbert Peterson, Louie Eugene Bell and Lester Lee Bell; three sisters, Minnie Alpha Howerton, Erma May Washburn and Eulalia Zora Bell; one grandson, Sidney Lynn Campbell; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Peterson was reared in Ripley County, where he was constable for several years. In 1946, he and his family moved to Holcomb, where he was chief of police from 1946 to 1957.
He moved to Carmi, Ill., in 1957, where he worked in the oil fields until his retirement. After his retirement, he returned to Missouri. He had lived in Foley for the past two years.
He was a member of the Missouri Police Association and First Baptist Church in Ellsinore.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.

Charles Jerome Bryant
Bowling Green
Nov. 20, 1930 - Feb. 9, 2004
BOWLING GREEN - Charles Jerome Bryant, 73, of Bowling Green, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Country View Nursing Facility in Bowling Green.
There will be no funeral services or visitation.
His cremains will be interred at Laurel Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in St. Louis.
The Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bryant was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Springfield to Eugene Paul and Martha Mary Pride Bryant.
He had been a longtime resident of the Sunset Nursing Home in Bowling Green before moving to the Country View Nursing Facility in 1997.
