Betty Douglas Russell

Date of death: November 29, 2008

Betty Douglas Russell of Fulton, Missouri passed away at the age of 78 on Saturday, November 29, 2008. She was born on September 15, 1930 in Fulton, Missouri, to the late Dennis Given Douglas and Bertha (Backer) Douglas. She was united in marriage to Marvin Russell on June 27, 1953. Betty worked at the International Shoe Factory and retired from the Missouri School for the Deaf as Assistant Dorm Director. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was an active member of the Fulton Senior Center where she enjoyed playing cards. She attended the Mexico Church of Christ in Mexico, Missouri. She enjoyed reading, dancing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a son, John Russell; a daughter, Cynthia Hutsell; five grandchildren, Derek Kinney, Dara Shirley and her husband, James, Devin Russell, Jared Hutsell and Hollie Hutsell; five great-grandchildren, Adrian Sumler, Brenton Shirley, Isiah Shirley, Noah Kinney, and Mariah Shirley; a brother, John E. Douglas of Fulton, Missouri and numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, Dennis, Robert, and Lewis; and two sisters, Emily Forsee and Genevieve Sheppeck.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at the Fulton Senior Center with Brother Dave Coleman officiating. Interment will be held at Hillcrest cemetery in Fulton, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton Senior Center or American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.

Naomi Mae Dean

Date of death: November 29, 2008

Naomi Mae Dean of Auxvasse, Missouri passed away at the age of 97 on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at the Pin Oaks Nursing Center in Mexico, Missouri. She was born on April 13, 1911 in Auxvasse, Missouri to the late Charles Elmer Burt and Josephine Hill Burt. She was united in marriage to Dorse “Pat” Dean on March 10, 1934. Naomi and her husband, Pat, owned and operated a sandwich shop, “Pat’s Place” in Fulton for many years. They also owned and operated “Dean’s Antiques” in Auxvasse, Missouri.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a daughter, Dorna Diven; a granddaughter, Danielle Drummond; two great-granddaughters, Alexa Diven and Crystal Drummond, all of Richland, Washington; a sister-in-law, Zella Burt of Auxvasse, Missouri, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband two brothers, Hill Burt and Sam Burt.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at the Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri with Reverend Mark Kummer officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, interment will be held at the Grand Prairie Baptist cemetery in Auxvasse, Missouri.

GENE ARLEN GIBONEY

Date of death: December 01, 2008

Gene Arlen Giboney of Fulton, Missouri passed away at the age of 70 at Fulton Nursing and Rehab on Monday, December 1, 2008. He was born on April 29, 1938 in Callaway County, Missouri, to the late Lacey and Pauline (Simpson) Giboney. He was united in marriage to Wanda (Stubblefield) Giboney on March 14, 1959. Gene worked for the Laborer’s Union Local 662 in Jefferson City, Missouri for over forty years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of forty-nine years, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a son, Danny Giboney of Fayette, Missouri; two daughters, Pat Gordon and her husband, Roger, of Fulton, Missouri and Janet Wimmer of Williamsburg, Missouri; three brothers, Larry, Lonnie, and Lawrence Giboney all of Fulton, Missouri; one sister, Wanda Cannell of Fulton, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Melonea Holloway, Daniel Giboney, Alecia Giboney, Kenny Giboney, Dessarae Gordon, Jerry Wimmer, John Wimmer and Chad Wimmer; six great grandchildren, Tyler Atterberry, Ryan Atterberry, Gavin Giboney, Cashton Holloway, Avarius Long, and Nathaniel Wimmer; one aunt, Dorothy Eney of Virginia; one uncle, Warren Simpson of Fulton, Missouri, several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2008, at the Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri with Reverend Mike Crowson officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri. Following the funeral service interment will be held at the White Cloud cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.

PEYTON LEE FLYNN

Peyton Lee Flynn, infant daughter of Chelsey and Eric Flynn of Fulton passed away on Monday, December 8, 2008, at the Callaway Community Hospital in Fulton, Missouri.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a brother, Jacob Alan Flynn of Fulton, Missouri; maternal grandparents, Lisa and Tim Hays of Fulton, Missouri; Don Britton and Valerie Phelps of Eldon, Missouri, and Sherry Britton of Osage Beach, Missouri; paternal grandparents, Sheila and Dan Quinlin and Gary and Sara Flynn Sr., of Hannibal, Missouri; maternal great-grandparents, Erma Clines of Fulton, Missouri, David and Willma Britton of Osage Beach, Missouri, and Cheryl Derry of Reform, Missouri; two paternal great-grandmothers, Virginia Conrad and Mary Francis Quinlin both of Hannibal, Missouri; three uncles, Chris Flynn and his wife, Lori, of Macon, Missouri, Isaiah Hays of Fulton, Missouri, and Jarred Maddox of Osage Beach, Missouri; four aunts, Lisa Flynn Vincent and her husband, Seth, of Hull, Illinios, Brandie Tharp and her husband, Landen, of Fulton, Missouri, Ashley Beale and her husband, Joseph, of Huntsville, Missouri and Theresa Green and her husband, Elmo, of Holts Summit, Missouri; seven great-uncles, Howard Clines of Jefferson City, Missouri, Dennis Clines, Shane Clines and his wife, Lisa, of Fulton, Missouri, Barry Britton and his wife, Pam, of O’Fallon, Missouri, Jerry Britton and his wife, Debbie, of Waynesville, Missouri, James Britton of St. Peter’s, Missouri and Steve Flynn of Hannibal, Missouri; six great-aunts, Tess Sessler and her husband, Joseph, of Auxvasse, Missouri, Cindy Clines of Fulton, Missouri, Debbie Flynn of St. Louis, Missouri, Barbara Flynn of Hannibal, Missouri, Carla Lawson and her husband, Dave, of Hull, Illinois, and Marcia Davis of Chicago, Illinois and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandfathers, Loyd Howard Clines and Merlyn Hays; two paternal great-grandfathers, Cordell John Flynn and Marion Leon Conrad; one paternal great-grandmother, Mary Kathryn Flynn; one great-aunt Paula Clines Thompson and two great-uncles John Flynn and Alan Conrad.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at the Callaway Memorial Gardens cemetery with Pastor Jack Tenney and Pastor Tom Tenney officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton.

HAZEL V. FARLEY

Date of death: December 11, 2008

Hazel V. Farley of Steedman, Missouri passed away at the age of 82 on Thursday, December 11, 2008, at the Presbyterian Manor. She was born on December 7, 1926 in Steedman, Missouri, the daughter of the late Samuel and Alma (Krebs) Mealy. She was united in marriage on September 23, 1944 to Elliott G. “Buster Farley, who preceded her in death on March 16, 2000. Hazel was retired from the Fulton State Hospital as a Nurse Aid II. She was a member of the Steedman United Methodist Church and the Steedman Sunshine Club. She enjoyed quilting and gardening.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four children, David Elliott Farley of Steedman, Missouri, Sheryl Jean Taylor of Holts Summit, Missouri, John Leonard Farley and his wife, Linda, of Steedman, Missouri, and Judith Carol Boots and Chuck, of Ashland, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Jackie Bohrn, Patricia Lynn Farley, Jeremy Taylor, Carly Myers, Leonard Farley, Lonnie Farley, Bryan Dungan, Zachary Boots, and Chanda Boots; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Chris Mealy of New Bloomfield, Missouri; two sisters, Ruby McCray of Fulton, Missouri and Marie McFarland of St. Charles, Missouri; numerous cousins and many dear friends. Including her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Lynn Roush, eight brothers, Charles, Walter, John, Russell, Kenneth, Paul, Lloyd, and Donald, and three sisters, Althea, Patsy, and Helen.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at the Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2008, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri with Rev. Beth Duckworth officiating. Following the funeral service burial will be held at the Steedman cemetery. CAROL DAWN SCHNEIDER

Date of death: December 10, 2008

Carol Dawn Schneider, 32, of Auxvasse, Missouri, passed away at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. She was born December 3, 1976, in El Campo, Texas, a daughter of Donald Benton Sr., and Ruby Price Benton. On February 14, 2004, she was united in marriage to Russell Schneider, he survives at their home.

In addition to her husband and mother of Mexico, Missouri, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one daughter, Aurora of the home; twin sons, Michael and Matthew of the home; one sister, Kathy Benton of Mexico, Missouri; two brothers, Donald Benton, Jr., and Ronald Benton, both of Holts Summit, Missouri; her father-in-law, Clifford Schneider of Auxvasse, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Schneider and Joseph Stone, both of Auxvasse, Missouri; six nieces; five nephews; six great nieces; two great nephews; many cousins, aunts, uncles, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, one sister, Felicia Benton, one brother-in-law, Donald Garrett, her mother-in-law, Jo Ann Schneider, and two nieces.

Carol attended Metro Business College in Jefferson City, Missouri. She volunteered at Auxvasse Elementary School and she enjoyed playing bingo, making crafts, and spending time with her family, especially her children.

Memorial services will be 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Auxvasse, Missouri with Rev. Ben Taylor officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carol Schneider Memorial Fund, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd., Fulton, Missouri 65251.

NORBERT EDWARD SCHULTE

Date of death: December 13, 2008

Norbert Edward Schulte of Columbia, Missouri passed away at the age of 69 on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at the Pin Oaks Nursing Center in Mexico, Missouri. He was born on June 28, 1939 in Rich Fountain, Missouri to the late Louis and Julie (Eisterhold) Schulte. Norbert was a retired plumber. He enjoyed playing cards, cooking, and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball fan.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four children, David Schulte and his wife, Doris, of Benton City, Missouri, Edward Schulte and his wife, Mercy, of Greeley, Colorado, Donna Keith of Jacksonville, Texas, and Janet Burcham and her husband, Jerry, of Mangum, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Dana, Kristy, Cassie, Jamie, Chance, Simon, and Helena; two brothers, Elmer Schulte and Emil Schulte, both of Fulton, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Lou Lander of Fulton, Missouri, and Jeanette Quick of Columbia, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Louis Schulte, and one sister, Dolores M. Schulte.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Fulton, Missouri with Father Karl Barmann officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri. Interment will be held at the Callaway Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd., Fulton, Missouri 65251.

DOUGLAS GERARD GEPPERT

Date of death: December 14, 2008

Douglas (Doug) Geppert of Columbia, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008, at the age of 40, at the Boone Hospital after suffering from a heart attack. He was born on January 22, 1968 in Pinckneyville, Illinios, the son of I. Stanley and Hattie (Kujawa) Geppert of Oakdale, Illinios. He was united in marriage to Kate Borman on May 28, 2000 and to this union one child was born, Sophia Anne Geppert.

In his youth, Doug was an active 4-H and FFA member. Following high school, he attended the University of Illinois, where he was active on the University Dairy and Livestock Judging Teams. He graduated with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Animal Science in 1990. Since graduation, he has been employed by KABA Select Sires as the Missouri Sales Coordinator. Throughout his career he was often recognized for his outstanding sales performance with the Super Achiever Award and the President’s Club within Select Sires, Inc.

He was an active member in the Missouri Holstein Association, the Holstein Association USA, the Missouri Cattleman’s Association, the Missouri Angus Association, the Missouri Dairy Association and Growth Council. He was also very active with the dairy shows at the Missouri State Fair. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Doug was an advocate for the livestock industry and was committed to improving the genetic and reproductive makeup of cattle in the state. Doug enjoyed spending time with his family and entertaining them with his grilling skills. He also found pleasure in visiting with cattlemen throughout the country, and following the University of Illinois and Missouri sports teams.

He is survived by his wife and daughter of the home; his parents and brother, Scott of Oakdale, Illinois; godparents Germain Geppert and Francis Gajewski; father and mother in-law, Harlan and Judy Borman of Kingdom City, Missouri, a brother and sister in-law, Tim and Kelly Borman of Kingdom City, Missouri; a niece, two nephews; numerous aunts and uncles; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Sophie Kujawa and Ignatius and Wanda Geppert.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2008, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri with a prayer service preceding. A celebration of the Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Columbia, Missouri with Monsignor Michael Flanagan officiating. Burial will follow in Kingdom City at the Richland Baptist cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Sophia Geppert Educational Fund, c/o Callaway Investment Services or to the University of Illinois Dairy Judging Endowment. Memorials may be made through the Maupin Funeral Home at 301 Douglas, Fulton, Mo. 65251.
