Leslie Allen Dunkle
Jan. 2, 1963 - June 7, 2007
Leslie Allen Dunkle, 44, Garden City, died June 7, 2007, in Garden City.
He was born Jan. 2, 1963, in Kansas City, the son of Everett Westley and Nancy Ann (Flint) Dunkle.
On Sept. 26, 1998, he married Susan Marie Robinson.
Mr. Dunkle was employed as a carpenter and earlier had been an operator at Shawnee Rock, Shawnee, Kan.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, an Army veteran and had attended Sherwood High School, Creighton.
Mr. Dunkle loved the farm, outdoors, fishing and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his wife, Susan M. Dunkle, Springfield; three sons, Drew A. Dunkle, Blue Springs, Max A. Dunkle, Richard W. Dunkle, a step-son, Todd Johnston and a step-daughter, Lina Johnston, all of Springfield; his mother and step-father, Nancy and Ron Agans, and his maternal grandmother, Charlene Flint, all of Garden City; a brother, Troy Dunkle, Odessa; a sister, Jennifer R. Dunkle, Garden City; a stepbrother, Eric Agans, Des Moines, Iowa; a stepsister, Lisa Sanchez, Ames, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation.
A memorial service was held June 12 at the First Baptist Church, Garden City.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City.

Anna Alene Dunnington
March 17, 1913 - June 10, 2007
Anna Alene Dunnington, 94, Drexel, died June 10, 2007, at her home with her daughters by her side.
She was born March 17, 1913, in Garden City, the daughter of Elva Flossie Ratliff and Marcus Eugene (Gene) Bullock.
In 1924, she moved with her family to Lawrence, Kan., then to Drexel, in 1925.
She graduated from Drexel High School in 1931.
Aug. 17, 1932, she married Homer Dunnington of Drexel.
They lived on the old Dunnington home place east of Drexel.
In 1945, they purchased the John Witter farm west of Drexel, where they lived until retirement in 1989, then moved into Drexel.
Mrs. Dunnington was a homemaker, a bus driver for 15 years and helped Homer on the farm.
She belonged to the State Line Club and owned a restaurant for a short period of time.
She loved to fish, read books and to plant flowers.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Homer, Dec. 17, 1994; three sisters; Louise Kinslow, Peggy Stainbrook and Florence Smith; a granddaughter; a nephew; and brothers–in-law, Raymond and Leslie Dunnington.
Surviving are her daughters, Beverly Lambe, Osawatomie, Kan., and Shirley Fink and husband, Frank, Drexel; one brother, Chester Bullock and his wife, Betty, of La Cygne, Kan.; five grandchildren, Jo Ann Mills and husband, Steve, Bill Fink, Raymond Fink and Roger Fink, all of Drexel, and Janell Lewis, Florida; 14 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Honorary casket bearers were granddaughters great-granddaughters and grandsons, Jo Ann Mills, Janell Lewis, Jessie Fink Keister, Lindsey Mills, Richelle Fink Jackson, Michael Fink, Danielle Fink, Myah Fink and Kelly Keister.
Casket bearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons, Bill Fink, Raymond Fink, Roger Fink, Steve Mills, Eric Mills and Clint Jackson.
Services were June 13 at the Wilson & Son Funeral Home in Drexel.
Burial was in the Sharon Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson & Son Funeral Home, Drexel.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Heartland Hospice, Butler.

Nancy Michelle Morasch
Dec. 8, 1962 - June 6, 2007
Nancy Michelle Morasch, 44, Pleasant Hill, died suddenly of natural causes June 6, 2007, at her home.
She was born Saturday, Dec. 8, 1962, in Biloxi, Miss., the daughter of David R. and Nancy Judene Beebe.
April 18, 2002, she married George E. Morasch II in Harrisonville.
Mrs. Morasch was a homemaker.
She was a loving wife and mother who loved working in the garden, crafting, fishing and cooking.
Surviving are her maternal grandfather, Gene Flanegin, Independence; her parents, David and Judy Beebe, Independence; her husband, George E. Morasch II, Pleasant Hill; a son, Caeleb Isabell, Warsaw; two daughters, Maegan Isabell, Warsaw, and Chyna Galloway-Lenz, Windsor; two stepsons, George Morasch III and his wife, Adrienne, Peculiar, and Chester Morasch, Pleasant Hill; a stepdaughter, Samantha Dinges and her husband, Todd, Pleasant Hill; a brother, Shawn Beebe and his wife, Lorraine, Independence; a sister, Lorie Ledbetter and her husband, Rhon, Blue Springs; four grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Casket bearers are John L. Berry IV, Todd Dinges, Charles Gabauer, Rhon Ledbetter, Shon Ledbetter and George Morasch III
Services were June 11 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, with the Rev. D. Kent Deubner officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Indepen­dence, under the direction of the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Powell Gardens, 1609 NW U.S. Highway 50, Kingsville, MO 64061.

Ernest Parker
July 5, 1921 – June 5, 2007
Ernest Parker, 85, Harri­son­ville, died June 5, 2007.
He was born July 5, 1921, in Alexandria, Va., the son of Ernest and Mabel (Fields) Parker.
He moved to Crown Care Center in Harrisonville in August 1996.
Cremation.
Arrangements were under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Jesse Dean “J.D.” Young
Dec. 3, 1937 – June 9, 2007
Jesse Dean “J.D.” Young, 69, Freeman, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
He was born Dec. 3, 1937, in West Line, the son of Herschel C. and Geneva Mae (Prettyman) Young.
Mr. Young worked for the Block Plant and Don Farr Construction in Harrisonville and also for Panhandle East­ern Pipe Line and Hallett Construction.
He worked with 4-H horsemanship for more than 15 years.
He was an outdoorsman.
He liked to play baseball and had played for town and church teams at Bolivar, Archie, Springfield and many others.
He enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and liked to ride horses.
Preceding him in death were his daughter, Justina Lane Young, Nov. 4, 1994; his parents; and two brothers, James Franklin and Herschel Leroy Young.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth, of the home; four daughters, Koni Young, Freeman, Geneva Kohler and Ed Anderson, Holt, Sue Newkirk and her husband, Jimmy, Versailles, and Wilma Kemper, Freeman; three sons, Herschel Young and his wife, Lora, Freeman, William Young and his wife, Michelle, Harrisonville, and Jim Young and Nancy Scharnhorst, Freeman; two brothers, Robert Thomas Young and his wife, Lois, West Line, and Charles Lester Young and his wife, Jean, Pleasant Hill; a sister, Etta Mae Robinette, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, Keith, Leah, Shawna, Falon, Alex, Johnathan, Jessica, Megan, Jennifer, Dustin, Dalton and Katelyn; a step-grandchild, Jay; three great-grandchildren, Devin, Parker and Jesse “Charlie”; a step-great-grandchild, Shyanne; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Honorary casket bearers were Robert Young, Charles Young, Herschel Young, William Young, Jim Young, Kirk Young, Howard Martin, Harold Martin, John Martin and Gene Miller.
Memorial services were June 12 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with Pastor John Murry officiating.
Burial was in Glenwild Cemetery, Cleveland, under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Steven Mark Prime
May 18, 1945 – June 6, 2007
Steven Mark Prime, 62, Peculiar, died June 6, 2007, at his home.
He was born May 18, 1945, in Morrill, Neb., the son of Noah Norton and Ruby Laura (Fuller) Prime.
Oct. 19, 1985, he married Sherri Ann Shives.
Steve grew up in Kansas City and Grandview and had lived in Gettysburg, S.D., Arizona and Guymon, Okla., before moving to Peculiar.
He was the Chief of Police for 10 years in Gettysburg and was also a volunteer fireman.
Mr. Prime was a truck driver in Guymon.
He was a Catholic.
Mr. Prime enjoyed hunting and stock cars and was a race car driver.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister, Jewell Arthur.
Surviving are his wife, Sherri, of the home; a son, Troy Prime, Guymon; two daughters, Lacey A. Prime, Guymon, and Stephanie Prime, Peculiar; a brother, Richard Prime, Rogers, Ark.; a sister, Margey Moore and her husband, Joe, Peculiar; a grandchild, Kristopher S. Prime, Phoenix, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
Casket bearers were Joe Moore, Joshua Bilderback, Brian Bilderback and Doak Myers.
Services were June 11 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, with Father Paw Lwin officiating.
Music was provided by Donna Overcast, vocalist, and Cindy Dunham, organist.
Rosary was said June 11 before the service, by Deacon Ron Strong.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, with military honors under the auspices of the Missouri National Guard Alpha Team.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

William Lee “Billy” Umphfrey
Aug. 22, 1981 - June 7, 2007
William Lee “Billy” Umphfrey III, 25, Fort Collins, Colo., died June 7, 2007, in Buffalo.
He was born Aug. 22, 1981, in Cameron, the son of William Lee Umphfrey Jr. and Phyllis Diane (Herdman) Umphfrey.
June 2, 2007, he was united in common-law marriage to Nicole Dannielle Kilgore.
Mr. Umphfrey was a caregiver at the Meadowbrook Homes, Harrisonville, for six years.
He attended Strafford High School, Strafford.
He loved his family and spending time with his kids, playing video games, bowling and photography.
He enjoyed going to the Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, Colo.
He had lived in Harrisonville before moving to Fort Collins in July 2006.
Surviving are his wife, Nicole D. Kilgore, a son, Kadden J. Kilgore, and a daughter, Vivian D. Kilgore all of the home; his father, William L. Umphfrey Jr., Buffalo; his mother, Phyllis D. Umphfrey, Springfield; a brother, Bob Umphfrey, Buffalo; a sister, Melissa Bottoms, Smithville; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation.
A memorial service was held June 9 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with the Rev. Asher McDaniel officiating.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Children’s Educational Fund.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
