Bert W. Thompson
Bert William Thompson, 83, died March 21, 2004, in Farmington, Mo.
He was born July 28, 1920, in Springfield, Mo., son of the late Bertram and Emily (Putz) Thompson.
He was united in marriage to Aurellia Ann Miller July 26, 1962, and she survives, residing in Annapolis.
Mr. Thompson served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Annapolis, the Algibial Masonic Lodge in St. Louis, the Scottish Rite and the Shriners.
He is survived by two sons, Brett A. Thompson, Houston, Texas, Jace Jason Thompson, Perryville; one grandson.
The funeral will be held Thursday, March 25, at the First Baptist Church in Annapolis with Revs. Jerry Cuneio and Clarence Casteel officiating.
Burial will be in Annapolis Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Bryson Funeral Home.

Lillie M. Plowman
Lillie Marie Plowman, 67, died March 20, 2004, at Clark's Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont, Mo.
She was born Oct. 12, 1936, in Ellsinore, Mo., daughter of Ora (Clyburn) Brown, who survives and resides in Piedmont, and the late William Atwood.
She was united in marriage to David L. Plowman Dec. 19, 1988, in Fairfield, Iowa, and he survives residing in Piedmont.
Mrs. Plowman enjoyed cooking and sewing and singing at local functions.
She was a homemaker and worked for many years as a seamstress and a waitress.
She was a member of the Mill Spring Christian Church.
Other survivors include five brothers, Richard and Thomas Brown, both of Piedmont, Gene Brown, Ellsinore, Arden Brown, Lonedell, Roger Brown, Memphis, Tenn.; six sisters, Inez Parks, St. Clair, Mary McFadden, Piedmont, Maggie Thorsland, Mill Spring, Betty Smith, Elsberry, Donna Johnson, Villa Ridge, Pamela Hanners, Arbyrd; one stepdaughter, Julie Stull, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three grandchildren.
The funeral was held March 22 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, with Dr. Frank Myers officiating and music by Guy Stevenson.
Burial was March 23 at Leando Cemetery in Douds, Iowa, with Rev. Connie Markle officiating.
Pallbearers were Arden Brown, Brian, Kevin and Frederick Plowman, Alex Ruegg and Lynn Plowman.
Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Parks, Bill Thorsland, Danny Smith, Lewis Johnson, Robert Hanners, Richard, Thomas, Gene and Roger Brown.

Jerry A. Schamel
Jerry A. Schamel, Sr., 69, of Bellefontaine Neighbors, died March 19, 2004.
He was born March 31, 1934 in Piedmont, Mo., son of the late George and Mina (Crandall) Schamel.
Mr. Schamel grew up in Patterson.
He was retired from General Motors and a member of the Masons and the Eagles. He enjoyed sports and politics.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry A. Schamel, Jr., John R. Schamel; one daughter, Cheryl (Steven) Piccione; three sisters, Gail Schamel, Virginia Russell, June Schamel; one brother, Jack Schamel; four grandchildren.
A small ceremony will be held in Mr. Schamel's honor at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at Patterson Cemetery.

Dorothy L. Bauer
Dorothy Louise Bauer, 97, died June 26, 2004, at Clark's Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont, Mo.
She was born Oct. 4, 1906, in New Orleans, La., daughter of the late Adolph and Loretta (Rohr) Adams.
She was united in marriage to Joseph T. Bauer Nov. 16, 1927, in St. Louis and he preceded her in death May 6, 1986.
Mrs. Bauer had worked for Famous Barr as a payroll clerk and was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church in St. Louis.
She is survived by one son, Dr. Donald (Lois) Bauer, Park Forest, Ill.; one daughter, Betty (Bob) Lewis, Piedmont; eight grandchildren, Steven (Linda) Lewis, Michael (Sheryl) Bauer, Nancy Totland, Mary (Terry) Chase, John (Peggy) Bauer, Paul Bauer, Joseph (Debby) Bauer, Ann (Jim) Stephens; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Levora and Sarah Cobb.
The graveside service was held June 19 at Lakewood Cemetery in St. Louis with Rev. Dr. Melvia E. Witt officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont.

Velma E. Purves
Velma Evelyn Purves, 85, died June 13, 2004.
She was born March 15, 1919, in Piedmont, Mo., daughter of the late Edward and Stella (Smith) Buffington.
She was married to Dr. G.A. Purves and he preceded her in death after 53 years of marriage.
Velma and Doc came to Cassville early in their marriage and were instrumental in changing the face of health care in the rural area surrounding their home town.
She was a past member and officer of Silver Leaf, the Garden Club and Eastern Star.
She served as president of the local Parent/Teacher Association, directed Barry County's early home health care program and founded the Cassville High School Band Boosters.
Mrs. Purves was an avid golfer, bass fisherman and gardener.
She was a member of the Cassville United Methodist Church, Senior Citizens and a founding member of the Cassville Golf Association.
She is survived by her children, Suzanne (Danny) Perkins, Linn Creek, Jean (Randy) Canady, Queen Creek, Ariz., Gail (Misuk) Purves, Cassville, Patricia (Daryl) Jonson, Pasco, Wash.; sisters, Betty Carter, Cape Girardeau, Virginia McGhee, Ellsinore; dear friend, Belinda Petree, Cassville.
The funeral was held June 16 at the United Methodist Church of Cassville.
Arrangements were under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Walter W. Bilbrey
Walter William Bilbrey, 73, died June 7, 2004, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock, Ark.
He was born Aug. 3, 1930, in Shook, Mo., son of the late Clifford and Opal (Davis) Bilbrey.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Hutchison and she survives, residing in Benton, Ark.
Mr. Bilbrey was a retired sergeant in the U.S. Army.
He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Michael Bilbrey, Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Debra "Debbie" Cross, Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Leon Bilbrey, Heltonville, Ind., John Bilbrey, Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Betty Marler, Williamsville, Mary Keele, Tallahassee, Fla.; brother-in-law, Roger Hickey, Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Nicole Bilbrey, Brandon Bilbrey, both of Arlington, Texas.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Clifford Lavern Bilbrey.
The graveside service was held June 10 at Duncan Cemetery, Piedmont, with Rev. Paul Bilbrey officiating.
Military honors were provided by Missouri Military Funeral Honors Team of Fort Leonard Wood.
Arrangements were under the direction of Ruegg Funeral Home, Williamsville.

David S. Barfield
David Shelton Barfield, 6, died June 13, 2004, at his home in Cabool, Mo.
He was born July 16, 1997, in Fredericktown, Mo., son of Trapper and Shay (Evans) Barfield of Cabool.
Other survivors include one brother, Clayton Fischer, and one sister, Laney McKay Barfield, of the home; grandparents, Patti Davis, Glen Carbon, Ill., Larry and Nancy Barfield, Piedmont, Garry and Sarah Evans, Katawa, Ky., Donna Evans, Piedmont; great-grandparents, Cecil and Maxine Vance, Irvin Hampton, Pauline Tutterow, all of Piedmont; great-great-grandmother, Mary Warren, Williamsville; aunts and uncle, Ayla and Kristin Evans, Michelle Barfield, Dillion Evans; cousins, Krista and Lee Barfield.
The funeral was held June 15 at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont.
Pallbearers were Dillon Evans, Stacy Black, Shawn Renner, Westley Blackwell, Zach Wadlow and Tony Hughes.
Burial was in Flatwoods Cemetery.

Hayden Myers
Hayden Casey Evan Myers, infant son of Rusty Myers and Jehnna Gunterman, was born June 4, 2004, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo. and died shortly thereafter.
He is survived by his parents, Rusty Myers and Jehnna Gunterman of Eureka Springs, Ark.; grandparents, Paul and Diana Gunterman, California, Connie Gunterman, Eureka Springs, Ark., Harold and Charlotte Koenig, Piedmont, Russell Myers Sr., St. Louis; great-grandparents, Harold and Sharon Laxton, Patterson, Kathy Myers, Piedmont, James and Veronica Schlater, Patterson, Hurbert and Mary Burnette, Eureka Springs, Ark., Ted Garren, Piedmont, Bill and Verna Gunterman, California, Sharon Miles, Fountain Valley, Calif.; great-great-grandmother, Louise Schlater, Piedmont.
Graveside services were held June 9 at Masonic Cemetery with Elder Bob Webb officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont.
