Maurine Dininger

GOLDEN CITY, Mo. - Maurine Dininger, 91, Golden City, died at 5:32 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, at McCune-Brooks Hospital, Carthage, after a long illness.

Mrs. Dininger was born Aug. 8, 1905, at Golden City. She returned to Golden City in 1959 from Pendell, Ark. She attended Golden City Assembly of God Church.

She married Eugene Paul "Ike" Dininger on Aug. 24, 1922, at Golden City. He died June 11, 1964.

Survivors include a son, Bob Dininger, Carthage; a daughter, Betty Newton, Wichita, Kan.; a brother, Loren Heath, Golden City; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Golden City. The Rev. Norman Heiskell will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Golden City.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Charles Herzer

STOTTS CITY, Mo. - Charles G. Herzer, 80, Harrisonville, formerly of Stotts City, died at 9:37 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997, at a Harrisonville nursing home after an illness.

Mr. Herzer was born Dec. 2, 1917, at Carterville.

He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of Assembly of God Church, Stotts City.

Survivors include two brothers, Raymond Herzer, Tulsa, Okla., and Elmer Herzer, Florence, Colo.; and a sister, Virginia Garoutte, Wichita, Kan.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lakin Funeral Chapel, Stotts City. Burial will be in Moore Cemetery, near Stotts City.

Friends may call after noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Harley Longenbaugh

SENECA, Mo. - Harley W. Longenbaugh, 98, Seneca, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, at Freeman-Neosho Hospital, Neosho, after an illness.

Mr. Longenbaugh was born Jan. 1, 1899, at Nevada. He was a retired carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Longenbaugh; a stepson, Estil Dill, McMinnville, Ore.; and a sister, Anna Nicholson, Commerce, Okla.

A private burial service will be today. Memorial services are pending with Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca.

Ruth Nichols

MONETT, Mo. - Ruth Loraine McReynolds Nichols, 67, Monett, died at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, at a local nursing home after a long illness.

Mrs. Nichols was born June 10, 1929, at Flint, Mich. She moved to Monett from Clare, Mich., in 1976.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Church of the Nazarene, Monett.

She married Robert Nichols in 1963 at Santa Ana, Calif. He died on May 1, 1966.

Survivors include a son, Kevin Nichols, Monett; two brothers, Leroy McReynolds, Burton, Mich., and Alvie McReynolds, Coleman, Mich.; and a sister, Inez Presley, Bay City, Mich.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Chris Carver officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens cemetery, Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett.

Karen Sligar

MONETT, Mo. - Karen Sligar, 55, Monett, died at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, after a long illness.

Mrs. Sligar was born July 18, 1941, at Okmulgee, Okla. She moved to Monett in 1982 from Phillipsburg, Kan. She was a teacher before retiring in 1995. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Monett, where she participated in the bell and vocal choirs. She was past president of the PEO Sisterhood's local chapter. She was a member of the Cox-Monett Hospital auxiliary and the Retired Teachers Association.

She married Darrell L. Sligar on May 25, 1963, at Bartlesville, Okla. He survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Kevin Sligar and Eric Sligar, both of Monett, and Scott Sligar, Joplin; two daughters, Leigh Hobson, Olathe, Kan., and Lori Mareth, Lowell, Ark.; a sister, Judith Rosen, Creve Coeur; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Monett. The Rev. Mark Mildren will officiate. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Monett.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.

Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist's music department or to American Cancer Society.

Herbert Weyforth

MONETT, Mo. - Herbert J. Weyforth, 94, Springfield, formerly of Monett, died at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, at a Springfield nursing home after a long illness.

Mr. Weyforth was born Oct. 8, 1902, at Chicago. He lived for 18 years in Monett before moving 10 years ago to Springfield. He was a U.S. Postal Service inspector before retiring in 1969. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Freistatt.

He married Lydia A. Fritz on June 8, 1929, at Chicago. She died Aug. 13, 1990.

Surviving is a sister, Mildred Greenlaw, Elk Rapids, Mich.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Freistatt. The Rev. Keith Christiansen will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.

Contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Harry Brown

Harry H. Brown, 75, 404 N. Moffet Ave., died at 10:04 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, at his home after a sudden illness.

Mr. Brown was born May 19, 1921, in Joplin and was a lifetime resident. He owned and operated Brown Mineral Rock Shop, 2226 Main St., for more than 20 years. He previously was a bookkeeper and clerk at the former Modern Floor Covering Company in Joplin for more than 25 years.

He was a member of Robert S. Thurman Post No. 13, American Legion. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He was a volunteer groundskeeper for Little League and Babe Ruth baseball leagues for many years.

Survivors include a brother, O.L. "Bud" Brown, 5706 Highway NN, Joplin; and a sister, Martha Jeanne Mills, Austin, Texas.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Parker Mortuary. The Rev. William Christman will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
