Michele Long

Michele McDonald Long, 31, Sanford, N.C., a former Joplin resident, died at 1:57 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997, at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Mrs. Long was born Oct. 18, 1965, in Goshen, Ind. She was a resident of Joplin for five years before she moved to Warsaw, Ind. She was graduated in 1984 from Parkwood High School and was a former employee of Taco Bell in Joplin. She was a teacher's assistant at Warren Williams School, Sanford, and attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church.

She was married to William Christopher Long on Aug. 10, 1985, in Warsaw. He survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Preston Long and Trevor Long, both of the home; one daughter, Whitney Long, of the home; her mother, Patricia H. Ballenger, Warsaw; her father and stepmother, Mike and Linda McDonald, Sanford; three brothers, Scott McDonald and Bo King, both of Warsaw, and Shannon McDonald, Sanford; one sister, Kristina Monk, Warsaw; one stepbrother, Doug Bolitho, Collinwood, Tenn.; and two stepsisters, Rena Purdy, Collinwood, Tenn., and Sherry Arnold, Sanford.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Home chapel, Warsaw. The Rev. Lester Young and Randy Bishop officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemtery, Warsaw.

Contributions may be made to the Warren Williams School Media Center, 901 Lawrence St., Sanford, N.C. 27330.

Sam Love

Raymond Sam Love, 82, Joplin, died at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin after a short illness.

Mr. Love was born Aug. 25, 1914, in the Tipton Ford community south of Joplin. He was an Army veteran of World War II, during which he earned four bronze stars. He was a roofer and carpenter for Morgan Roofing Co., Joplin.

He married Ruth Slaughter in 1944 in Joplin. She died Dec. 10, 1988.

Survivors include a daughter, Mona Red, Bellingham, Wash.; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

The body will be cremated.

No services are planned.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Wanda Mull

Wanda M. Mull, 54, Joplin route 6, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997, at her home after a long illness.

Mrs. Mull was born Dec. 27, 1942, at Oak Grove. She moved to the Joplin area in 1986 from San Ferndando, Calif. She was a homemaker and a Jehovah's Witness.

She married Cecil Mull on April 5, 1975, at Ringo, Ga. He survives.

Additional survivors include three brothers, John Clemons, Joplin, Gerald Clemons, Miami, Okla., and David Clemons, San Fernando.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Warren Reece, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Carterville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Corwin Zenser

Corwin Joel Zenser, 86, Joplin, died at 4:05 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997, at a local nursing home after a short illness.

Mr. Zenser was born June 13, 1910, at Cuba, Mo. He moved to Joplin in 1928 from Cuba. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a contract painter for more than 50 years before he retired in 1977.

He married Mary Lou Ferrick on March 7, 1959, in Joplin. She died Nov. 15, 1974.

There are no immediate survivors.

The body will be cremated.

Interment will be at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Shorty Brandon

CASSVILLE, Mo. - Aubrey "Shorty" Brandon, 83, Cassville, died at 6:48 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, after a long illness.

Mr. Brandon was born Aug. 2, 1913, in the Mineral Springs community near Cassville. He was graduated from Cassville High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a 40-year deliverer for Langendorf Bakery, Bakersfield. He moved to Cassville after he retired in 1983. He was a 50-year member of United Commercial Travelers, Bakersfield.

He married Lola Marie Lewis on April 4, 1949, at Topeka, Kan. She survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Robert Brandon, Sacramento, Calif., and Dale Brandon, Palo Alto, Calif.; a brother, John Brandon, Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Marie Allison and Lenora Langston, both of Cassville, and Heddy Liggett, Manteca, Calif.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mineral Springs Cemetery, Cassville. The Rev. Robert Day will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.

Lois Brannan

CASSVILLE, Mo. - Lois Nadine Brannan, 82, Cassville, formerly of Seligman, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997, at her home after a sudden illness.

Mrs. Brannan was born June 12, 1914, at Rogers, Ark. She had lived in Seligman until this month when she moved to Cassville.

She was a member of Assembly of God Church, Cassville.

She married William E. Brannan on March 22, 1934, at Cassville. He died Oct. 24, 1981.

Surviving are one son, Paul Brannan, Frankfort, Ky.; a sister, Thelma Bacon, Cassville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Assembly of God Church, Cassville. Pastor Robert Day will officiate. Burial will be in King Cemetery, Seligman.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville.

George Huffman

STARK CITY, Mo. - George M. Huffman, 84, Villa Ridge, formerly of Stark City, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, after an illness.

Mr. Huffman was born Oct. 16, 1912, at Stark City. He worked for several years as a ranch hand and car man for the former Gulf Mobile & Ohio Railroad, Belleville, Ill. He retired in 1975 and returned to Stark City. He moved to Villa Ridge in 1982. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Gray Summit, where he was chairman of the board of deacons.

He married Dorothy Lauerman on June 8, 1937, at East St. Louis, Ill. She survives.

Additional survivors include a son, the Rev. Robert Huffman, Villa Ridge; a brother, Garland Huffman, Stark City; a sister, Mary Kelly, Stark City; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, Gray Summit, followed by services by the Rev. James Perdew.

Friends may call after noon Saturday at Clark Funeral Home, Granby, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, followed by graveside services at Dice Cemetery, Fairview. The Rev. Doug Gripka will officiate.

Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Gray Summit.
