Dovie Henning

Services for Dovie Henning, 75, 2831 Kentucky Ave., who died Sunday, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary.

The Rev. Charlie Davidson and the Rev. Charlie Burnett will officiate.

Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.

Contributions may be made to Harmony Heights Baptist Church.

Ben Springer

Ben R. Springer, 64, 604 Plaza Drive, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday, March 24, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, after a long illness.

Mr. Springer was born July 5, 1932 at King Fisher, Okla.

He had been a Joplin resident since 1980.

He was a self-employed real estate broker.

He was a U.S. Army sergeant in the Korean War.

He was a volunteer at Quapaw Long House, Quapaw, Okla. and a member of Mended Hearts Club of St. John's, Joplin.

He was also president of the central states of the American Association of Peruvian Paso Horses.

He married Florence Barnett on Nov. 1, 1953 at Hernando, Miss. She survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Kyle Springer, Joplin, and Dan Townsend, Madisonville, Texas; a sister, Anna Mae Vivian, Pryor, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin.

Burial will be in Ottawa Indian Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

Contributions may be made to Quapaw Long House Children's Fund.

Nellie Brown

EXETER, Mo. - Nellie Rozella Brown, 85, Fayetteville, Ark., formerly of Exeter, died at 3:09 a.m. Monday, March 24, 1997, at Fayetteville City Hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Brown was born June 6, 1911, at Neosho.

She was educated in Newton County before moving in 1941 to Barry County.

She later lived in Kansas City before returning to Barry County in the early 1970s.

She moved to Fayetteville about two years ago.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Exeter.

She married Leslie Elmont Brown on Aug. 27, 1928, at Neosho.

He died March 6, 1971.

Survivors include two sons, Bud Brown, Exeter, and L.D. Brown, Hindsville, Ark.; a daughter, Luma Day, El Dorado, Kan.; a brother, Wilford Brazeel, Anderson; a half-sister, Clona Bertalotto, Rocky Comfort; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

The Rev. Hugh Higgs and the Rev. Jerry Yarnell will officiate.

Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.

Gary Corum

SARCOXIE, Mo. - Services for Gary Corum, 37, Grain Valley, a former Sarcoxie resident, who died Sunday, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Housh Funeral Home, Sarcoxie. Don Housh will officiate.

Burial will be in Harvey Cemetery, north of Sarcoxie.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include a sister, Carolyn Whisner, Kansas City, Kan.

Naida DeSha

NEVADA, Mo. - Naida Pauline DeSha, 73, Independence, a former Nevada resident, died Sunday, March 23, 1997, at her home after a long illness.

Mrs. DeSha was born Feb. 10, 1924, at Sheldon.

She lived most of her life in the Nevada area and worked at the State Hospital in Nevada until 1976.

She moved to the Kansas City area in 1978, where she lived the remainder of her life.

She was a member of Phillipsburg Christian Church.

Survivors include six daughters, Mary Redman, Blue Springs, Margaret DeSha, Riley, N.C., Iva Quillin, Independence, Sandra Hall, Phillipsburg, Dawn DeSha, Lawrence, Kan., and Ruth Hall, Sapulpa, Okla; two sons, Richard DeSha, Spring Lake, N.C., and Randy Lee DeSha, Lawrence, Kan.; eight brothers, Roland Rapp, Independence, Donald Rapp, Garden City, Leon Rapp, Drexel, Buford Rapp, St. Louis, John Rapp, Kansas City, B.J. Rapp, Derby, Kan., Robert Rapp, Yorktown, Va., and David Rapp, Parkville; and a sister, Sharon Albertson, Independence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

The Rev. Roger Tribble and the Rev. Ben McFerron will officiate.

Burial will be in Milo Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Friends may call until the hour of services.

Contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or National Kidney Foundation.

Sylvia Geddes

NOEL, Mo. - Sylvia Helen Geddes, 75, Noel route 1, died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, March 23, 1997, at an Anderson nursing home of an illness.

Mrs. Geddes was born May 9, 1921, at Weatherford, Okla. She worked in quality

control at a plastics company.

She had lived since 1976 at Noel, moving from Edmond, Okla.

She was a member of Noel United Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge, Alfalfa, Okla.

She married James Geddes on March 30, 1942, at Chickasha, Okla. He died Feb. 6, 1990.

Survivors include four sons, James Michael Geddes, Garland, Texas, Alexander "Sandy" Geddes, Gainesville, Fla., and Gary Gene Geddes and Troy Dean Geddes, both of Noel; two daughters, Patricia Anne Finnegan, Escondido, Calif., and Dianne Lynn Arnold, Panama City, Fla.; three brothers, Arthur Ratzlaff, Slayton, Texas, Roy Ratzlaff, Lamesa, Texas, and Kenneth Ratzlaff, Covina, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Noel United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Bob Howard will officiate.

Burial will be in Noel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ozark Funeral Home, Noel.

Contributions may be made to American Heart Association or Association for the Blind, in care of the funeral home.

Rhett McIntire

SENECA, Mo. - Rhett A. McIntire, 16, 9282 Antelope Road, died at 10:55 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center of injuries received in a traffic accident.

Mr. McIntire was born Feb. 5, 1981, at Tempe, Ariz.

He moved to Seneca in Aug. 1996 from Mesa, Ariz.

He was a sophomore at Seneca High School.

He was a member of the varsity wrestling team. He held the Life rank in the Boy Scouts of America, and was a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 50.

He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Neosho Ward.

He held the Aaronic Priesthood.

Survivors include his parents, Michael and Janet McIntire; three brothers, Tosh McIntire, Graham McIntire, and Porter McIntire, all of the home; two sisters, Bethanie McIntire, and Paige McIntire, both of the home; paternal grandparents, E. Burnell and Lora McIntire, Mongolia, Margaret and Howard Reed, Flagstaff, Ariz.; maternal grandparents, Glenda and Bob Phillips, Mesa, Ariz., and Glen Horning, Mesa, Ariz.; maternal great-grandparents, Homer and Velma Roberts, Mesa, Ariz.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Neosho Ward Chapel.

Stephen McDaniel will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be Saturday in Mesa, Ariz.

Arrangements are under the direction of Woodard-Freund-Thompson Funeral Home, Neosho.
