Stanley Wentford McAfee

Stanley Wentford McAfee, 47, of Michigan City, died May 14, 2007 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a disabled construction worker with APAC Construction Company in Memphis.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on May 19 at Foundation of Life Church Christian and Learning Center in Lamar. Burial was in the church cemetery. Elder James T. Patterson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Zeffie Coley McAfee; a daughter, Iesha McAfee of Michigan City; two sons, Devonta McAfee of Michigan City, Marquitius McAfee of Grand Junction, Tenn.; two sisters, Ann Williams of Grand Junction, Joyce Morrow of Michigan City; three brothers, James McAfee of Mt. Pleasant, Ricky McAfee of Ashland, Dwight Shaw of Michigan City; and a granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Melvin Allen, Charles Davis, Ray Crawford, Jeffrey Davis, John Robert Everett, Jackie Davis and Larry Davis. Honorary pallbearers were James E. McAfee, Ricky McAfee, Sedric McNamee, Dwight Shaw and Emmitt Shaw.

Jewell Goode McDugle

Jewell Goode McDugle, 82, of Memphis, Tenn., died May 17, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital. She was the widow of Dewey Wilson McDugle and a Baptist.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 21 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Cornersville Cemetery in Potts Camp. Bro. Bobby Biggs officiated.

She leaves a son, Ronnie McDugle of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Janet Baillargeon of Evansville, Ind., Sharon Burns of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Colonel Ellis (Bug) Goode Jr. of Potts Camp; a sister, Sybil Tollison of St. Louis, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Jerry Paul Mills

Jerry Paul Mills, 66, died Sunday May 20, 2007 in a local hospital. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Potts Camp. Jerry was raised a Mason in Holly Springs, Lodge 0035, in 1979. He was a 45-year member of Lions International, both in Mississippi, where he served on a district level; He also held several offices in The Lions Club of Panama City, Fla., including president. Other memberships include Sons of Confederate Veterans, Mississippi Council on Aging, Potts Camp Volunteer Fire Department and Bay County Chamber of Commerce serving on the Ambassadors, Military Affairs and B2B committees.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Ann Brassell-Mills; three children Jerry Paul Mills Jr., William Talmadge Mills and Melanie (Missie) Renee Mills; one sister Birtie Edwards of Nashville; two stepsons, Charles (Chuck) Williams and Robert (Bubba) Williams; granddaughter Marlania Mills, four step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007 with funeral services to follow at 5 p.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Southerland II officiating. Funeral services in Mississippi will be held 3 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Potts Camp, MS. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The Class of ’59‚ Potts Camp High School will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to may make contributions to Lions International Foundation for the blind or the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

James L. Morris II

James L. Morris II, 64, of Germantown, Tenn., formerly of Potts Camp, died May 16 at Germantown Methodist Lebonheur Hospital. He served on the church budget committee, and was chairman of the annual church golf tournament. He was a graduate of Northwest MS Junior College and attended the University of Memphis. He was co-owner of Eykon Wallsource and Design Elements.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 19 at St. Patrick Presbyterian Church in Collierville, Tenn., where he was a member. Burial was in Memorial Park South Woods Cemetery. Collierville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Jane; a son, Trey Morris of Southaven; two daughters, Laurie Hollowell of Olive Branch, Lisa Going of Nesbit; two brothers, Gary Morris of Germantown, Danny Morris of Potts Camp; a sister, Angela House of Biloxi; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Sonny Stroud, Doug and Matt Hollowell, Trip Going, Harry Worley and David Stewart.

The family requests that any memorials be made to the St. Patrick Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1087, Collierville, TN 38017.

Fred William Robbins

Fred William Robbins, 63, of Victoria, formerly of Memphis, Tenn. died May 19, 2007 at the Baptist Restorative Care Hospital in Memphis. He was a former member of Carpenters Local 345.

Services were held at 12 noon on May 22 at Memphis Funeral Home Germantown Parkway Chapel. Burial was in Memory Hill Gardens.

He leaves his wife of 43 years, Linda Robbins; a daughter, Lori Jacobs of Brighton, Tenn.; two sons, Wesley Robbins of Maylene, Ala, Robbie Robbins of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Virginia Stockdale of Big Sandy, Tenn., Norma Martin of Calvert City, Ky.; a brother, Phil Robbins of Bartlett, Tenn.; and two grandsons.

Earl Davis Smith

Earl Davis Smith, 34, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Holly Springs, died May 14, 2007 at a construction work site in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis for a year.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 19 at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hopewell No. 2 Cemetery in Hudsonville. Rev. Larry Snow officiated.

He leaves his mother, Minnie Ayers of Byhalia; six brothers, Statie Smith of Lake Center, Hubert Ayers of Ashland, Michael Snow of Holly Springs, Casey Muse, James Ivory and Bo Muse, all of Kansas City, Kan.; and three sisters, Tina Moore of Byhalia, Rena Ayers, Debra Muse, both of Holly Springs, Earnestine Ayers of Pearl, Darlene Muse of Kansas City, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Muse.

Charles Burdsell Sickler

Charles Burdsell Sickler, 82, of Holly Springs, formerly of Holly Hills, Fla., died May 12, 2007 at Tippah Co. Hospital. He was the widower of Barbara Jane Sickler. He lived most of his life in Ewan, N.J. He was a Methodist, security supervisor and a Merchant Marine veteran.

Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his former wife, Laurel Sickler of National Park, N.J.; three daughters, Judith Iacovelli of Buena, N.J., Geraldine (Tess) Sickler of Holly Springs, Mary Ross of Bethlehem, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Maurine Sharp of Elmer, N.J.; three stepsons, Tom Sharp of Daytona, Fla., Rick Sharp of Cape May, N.J., Chris Sharp of Elmer, N.J.; a sister, Dorothy S. Corrie of Boston, Mass.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Jane Sickler and a son, Charles Steven Sickler.

Raymond Louis Washington

Raymond Louis Washington, 43, of Byhalia, died May 16 at Hope House in Greenwood.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 20 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Byhalia, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Chris Williams officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He leaves two children, Montanez Washington, Adrion Mayse; his parents, James Jones and Annie Seal Washington; three brothers, Aubrey Washington, Dennis Washington, Jerry Jones, all of Byhalia; a sister, Shirley Lancaster of Olive Branch; and one grandchild.
