Ms. Retha McGee
BURLINGTON - Ms. Retha McGee, 80, of 602 S. Sellars Mill Road, died at 9:18 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after two years of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of Mr. James H. McGee and Mrs. Mary Jones McGee, both deceased. She was retired from Collins and Aikman and was a member of Ireland Street Chapel.
Survivors include two sisters, Ms. Muriel McGee of the home and Mrs. Audrey M. Wagner of Burlington; and a brother, Mr. Ray Allen McGee of Graham.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Vara Surber; and a brother, Mr. James H. McGee Jr.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening and at other times at the home.

Miss Flora C. Stout
LIBERTY - Miss Flora Catherine Stout, 77, formerly of 8638 Cocoa Road, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at Alamance Health Care.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. William Stout and Mrs. Flora Buckner Stout, both deceased. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill Christian Church by the Rev. Howard Spray. Burial will be in Flint Ridge Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty from 7 to 9 this evening and at other times at the home of Ms. Cindy Carriker, 8672 Cocoa Road, Liberty.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, P.O. Box 2122, Burlington, N.C. 27216-2122.

Mrs. Lucille B. Clapp
HICKORY - Mrs. Lucille Love Boland Beckom Clapp, 90, of 330 29th Ave. N.E., died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Born April 3, 1909, in Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Rev. Carl H. Clapp and the late Mr. Everette W. Beckom Sr. She was the daughter of Mr. William Andrew Boland and Mrs. Dora Elizabeth Love Boland, both deceased. She was the retired owner and operator of Nelly Bee Products Inc. She was a member of First Church of God. At her church, she was a member of the Singles Club and the Keen Agers Group and received the “Mother of the Year Award” in 1997. She was a member of the Hickory Chapter 155 Order of the Eastern Star and member of the Order of the White Shrine in Jerusalem. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, past president of the Women of the Church of God and past state chairman of the Women of the Church of God.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William R. (Mitzie) Abernathy and Mrs. Lynn Beckom, both of Hickory; two sons, Mr. Everette Beckom of Hickory and Mr. L. Joe Beckom of Lenoir; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Harold Gene Beckom; two sisters, Ms. Fern Boland and Ms. Elna Kivett; and a grandchild.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Church of God by the Rev. Steve Delisle and the Rev. Don Coleman. Burial was in Catawba Memorial Park.
The family was at Bass-Smith Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 Monday evening.
Memorials may be made to First Church of God, Building Fund or Youth Fund, 306 14th St. S.W., Hickory, N.C. 28602.

Mrs. Nellie A. Amos
GREENSBORO - Mrs. Nellie Ammons Amos of Greensboro died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at Clapps Nursing Center.
A lifelong resident of Greensboro, she was the wife of the late Mr. W.W. “Bill” Amos. She was retired from Southern Webbing Mill.
Survivors include two sisters, Ms. Grace A. Ritter of Greensboro and Ms. Vallie Ray Bullington of Burlington.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Forest Lawn cemetery by the Rev. J. Bruce Ritter Jr.
The family was at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street from 6:30 to 8 Tuesday evening.
Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Joshua C. Graham
ROANOKE, Va. - Joshua Christopher Graham, infant son of Christopher and Donna Graham of West Hampton Street, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999.
He was born Sept. 2, 1999.
Survivors other than his parents, former Burlington residents, include a brother, Benjamin Christopher Graham; and grandparents, Mr. John Alderman and Mrs. Patti Alderman of Burlington, Mr. Frank Graham of Allentown, Pa., and Ms. Carol Rhatigan of Chestertown, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Steven Wagstaff
BURLINGTON - Mr. Steven Samuel Wagstaff, 94, of 642 S. Mebane St., died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at Dogwood Forest Rest Home after a long illness.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Lillie Morton Wagstaff, who died in 1994, and the son of Mr. Steven T. Wagstaff and Mrs. Lenora Fuller Wagstaff, both deceased. He was a retired employee of the city of Graham. He was a member of First Baptist Church on Apple Street, where he was a member of The Men’s Bible Class and served with the Deacon Board, as an usher and as a tribe leader of The Tribe of Joseph.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ruby M. Byrd of Burlington; one son, Mr. James Morton of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Ella W. Morton and Mrs. Minnie W. Riggins, both of Burlington; one brother, Mr. Otis Wagstaff of Stamford, Conn.; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the church one hour before the serivce and at other times at the home of the daughter, 513 Clay St., Burlington.

Mrs. Cordie Watlington
YANCEYVILLE - Mrs. Cordie Bell Badgett Watlington, 89, of Brian Center Nursing Home, formerly of Badgett Sister Parkway, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at the center.
Born July 18, 1910, in Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Wallace Pete Watlington and the daughter of Mr. Willis Badgett and Mrs. Ella Gwynn Badgett, both deceased. She was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church, where she was the church musician and a member of the choir. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Mr. Rudolph Q. Watlington of Danville, Va.; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at Fulton Funeral Chapel.

The Rev. W. Hoyt Cheek
GRAHAM - The Rev. W. Hoyt Cheek, 79, of The Methodist Retirement Home, Durham, died at 3:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at Duke University Medical Center after several years of failing health, one day critical.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Leona Cornell Cheek and Mrs. Helen Falls Cheek, who survives. He was the son of Mr. Lawrence W. Cheek and Mrs. Bernice Layton Cheek, both deceased. He was a retired United Methodist Church minister and a member of the N.C. United Methodist Conference. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Survivors other than his wife of Clinton include one daughter, Mrs. Janey C. Hall of Burlington; one son, Mr. Wesley B. Cheek of Smith Mountain Lake, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Ruth C. Aydt of Graham; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Kay F. Burgess and Miss Robin S. Falls, both of Raleigh; one stepson, Mr. Buddy Falls of Wrightsville Beach; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Bellemont United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jeff Roberts, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers will be the United Methodist Church ministers and their wives.
The family will be at the church following the service. Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Acey Reaves
AUTRYVILLE - Mr. Acey Leon Reaves, 89, of 1475 South River Road, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at the Highland House of Fayetteville.
A native of New Hanover County, he was the husband of Mrs. Mary Earlene Hall Reaves, who survives, and the son of Mr. Carey J. Reaves and Mrs. Lula Mae Malpass Reaves, both deceased. He was a former resident of Mebane, where he was employed at the White Furniture Company for more than 30 years.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include one son, Mr. Johnny Reaves of West Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Mrs. Lorena Bell of Bladenboro; and two grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro by the Rev. Richard Spell. A graveside service was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, S.C.
The family was at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro from 6 to 7 Sunday evening.
Memorials may be made to Long Branch Baptist Church or the Autryville Town Hall Project.

Mrs. Patricia P. Rogers
GRAHAM - Mrs. Patricia Payne Rogers, 61, of 5449 Snow Camp Road, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at her home after nine months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Preston Murdock Rogers, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. James V. Payne, who survives, and the late Mrs. Mildred Clark Payne. She was an employee of Ametek of Graham. She was a member of Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than her husband and father of Graham include three sons, Mr. James Preston “Jimmy” Rogers of Graham, Mr. Barry Dale Rogers of Burlington and Mr. Michael Todd Rogers of the home; two sisters, Mrs. James (Dawn) Conklin of Burlington and Mrs. Calvin (Vickie) Easter of Graham; a brother, Mr. Ralph C. Payne of Graham; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Joy P. Cole; and a brother, Mr. June V. Payne.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be the home of a sister, Mrs. Calvin (Vickie) Easter, 340 South Sixty Court, Graham.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assocation of the Piedmont Triad, 200 N. Cherry St., Burlington, N.C. 27101.
