Mr. David M. Jordan
BURLINGTON - Mr. David Marion Jordan, 65, of 841 Greenwood Drive, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998.
Born April 13, 1932, in Tilman, Miss., he was the husband of Mrs. Patricia Sears Jordan, who survives, and the son of Mr. James Jefferson Jordan and Mrs. Doris Fugate Jordan, both deceased. He was retired from the U.S. Army and Lifeline Security Co. He was a member of the Veterans of Underage Military Service and the Alamance County War Memorial Committee.
Survivors other than his wife include two daughters, Mrs. Beverly Williams and Ms. Patricia Swinney, both of Burlington; a son, Mr. David Michael Jordan of Mebane; a brother, Mr. Alvin Ray Jordan of Redding, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Christopher of Guthrie, Okla.; two grandchildren; and one step grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Faith Christian Center in Whitsett by Dr. Roger Medlin, pastor.

Mrs. Agnes I. Goldston
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Agnes Isley Goldston, 83, of 323 Baldwin Road, died at 5:02 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a short critical illness.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Percy Goldston, and the daughter of Mr. Riley Isley and Mrs. Hattie Stewart Isley, both deceased.
Survivors include a son, Mr. William Isley of Gibsonville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Faith Baptist Church in Gibsonville by the Rev. Timothy Warren, pastor. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the church one hour before the service, and at other times at the home of the son, 4757 Steele St., Apt. 28, Gibsonville.

Mr. Walter C. Turner
BURLINGTON - Mr. Walter Connell Turner of 1216 Macon St., died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at his home.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mrs. Bertha Miles Turner, who survives, and the late Mr. John P. Turner. He was a split cutter with West Point Stevens.
Survivors other than his mother of the home include two brothers, Mr. John Turner Jr. of Graham and Mr. Kenneth R. Turner of Greensboro; and a sister, Miss Hazel M. Turner of Burlington.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Union Chapel United Church of Christ by the Rev. Ervin E. Milton, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the church 30 minutes before the service, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Helen Workman
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Mrs. Helen Tinnin Workman, 82, of 375 Serpentine Drive, formerly of 10 Crescent Road, died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, in Magnolia Manor of Spartanburg.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Otis C. Workman, and the daughter of Mr. Albert Tinnin and Mrs. Grocie Dean Tinnin, both deceased. She was Methodist and a former member of the Fisherets in Morehead City.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Bobby C. Workman of Spartanburg and Mr. Donald L. Workman of Jacksonville, Fla.; five sisters, Ms. Mae Thompson and Ms. Josephine Sykes, both of Mebane, Ms. Mary Connor of Morehead City, Ms. Maude Andrews of Greensboro and Ms. Lorraine Dixon of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Frank Tinnin of Burlington; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Lebanon United Methodist Church cemetery in Mebane by Mr. Robert Suitt.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 9:30 to 10:15 this morning.

Mr. James B. Briggs
YANCEYVILLE - Mr. James Bernell Briggs, 62, of 25 Pleasant Grove Church Road, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at his home.
Born Sept. 13, 1935, in Caswell County, he was the son of Mr. Oscar Thurman Briggs and Mrs. Annie Rivers Love Briggs, both deceased. He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Danville, Va., and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Amanda Briggs of Chapel Hill; two sisters, Mrs. Shirley B. Solomon of Leasburg and Ms. Ruth B. Kimbro of Martinsville, Va.; and a brother, Mr. O. Hulon Briggs of Graham.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ms. Clara Briggs Niemann, and a brother, Mr. Claxton Briggs.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Union United Methodist Church by Mr. Bently Creighton, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the church following the service.

Dakota W. Means
YANCEYVILLE - Dakota Wayne Means, infant son of Mr. David Wayne Means Jr. and Mrs. Carlene Mullins Means, of 54 Badgett Sisters Parkway, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Survivors other than his parents include maternal grandparents, Mr. Carl Edward Mullins and Mrs. Jerlene Blankenship Mullins of Yanceyville; and paternal grandparents, Mr. David Wayne Means Sr. and Mrs. Sue Means of Greensboro.
A graveside service was conducted Monday at Oakview Presbyterian Church cemetery by Elder Carl Mullins.

Mrs. Magdalena Tripp
MEBANE - Mrs. Magdalena Workman Tripp, 99, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Twin Lakes Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Mr. R.W. Tripp. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mebane Gospel Chapel.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Frank W. Tinnin of Burlington; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Otis Workman Tripp.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lebanon Church cemetery by the Rev. Robert Suitt.
The family will be at the home of the daughter at 703 Tucker St., Burlington.

Mrs. Doris F. Osborn
WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Doris Foster Osborn, 83, of 2400 Greenwich Road, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at her home.
She was born Oct. 13, 1914, in Danville, Va. She was the wife of Mr. Virgil Osborn, who died in 1988, and the daughter of Mr. Charles Foster and Mrs. Florence Lanier Foster, both deceased.
Before retiring, she was employed by Spears Jewelry Store for 36 years. She was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Gail Osborn Weatherman of Winston-Salem; a sister, Ms. Edith Hutcherson of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Mr. James Foster and Mr. Kenneth Foster, both of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church by the Rev. Greg Eberhard. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Forsyth Memorial Park.
The family will be at the Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel from 7 to 9 this evening.

Mrs. Anne May Leach
HAW RIVER - Mrs. Anne May Leach, 67, of 417 Lang St., died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a two-month illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Carson 'Mutt' Leach, and the daughter of Mr. Jesse Leroy May and Mrs. Mattie Cole May. She was retired from Cone Mills, and a member of First Baptist Church of Haw River.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Terrell of Mebane, Mrs. Sharon Mabry of Elon College and Mrs. Georgia Rinehart of New Jersey; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Doss of Haw River and Mrs. Coralee Dodson of Mebane; one brother, Mr. Henry May of Burlington; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Miss Cindy Leach.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Haw River by the Rev. Richard Poindexter, pastor. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Mr. James K. Jackson
BURLINGTON - Mr. James K. 'Skinny' Jackson, 62, of 318 Trail 3, died at 9:14 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Triangle Hospice after an illness of several months.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Ethel Melton Jackson, who survives, and the son of Mr. James Kinnie Jackson and Mrs. Bessie Goins Jackson, both deceased. He was retired from McLean Trucking and a member of Teamsters Local 391.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include three daughters, Mrs. Susan Jackson Hedrick, Mrs. Robin Jackson Carder and Mrs. Sherry Jackson Skinner, all of Graham; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by Dr. E. Al Roberts, pastor of Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Mr. Alton W. Tate
EFLAND - Mr. Alton Wade Tate, 58, of 8316 Harmony Church Road, died at 8:55 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Presbyterian Home of Hawfields in Mebane after an illness of one year.
Born July 24, 1939, in Orange County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Thelma Carswell Tate, and the son of Mrs. Maggie Pritchett Tate, who survives, and the late Mr. William F. Tate Sr. He was the owner and operator of Wade Tate Heating & Air Conditioning Service and was a farmer. He was a member of Mount Zion Christian Church, where he was a deacon.
Survivors other than his mother of Mebane include a daughter, Mrs. Rhonda Shue of Efland; two sons, Mr. Randy Tate of Efland and Mr. Craig Tate of the home; a brother, Mr. William F. 'Bill' Tate Jr. of Mebane; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Zion Christian Church by the Rev. John Boland, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
