Mr. William Atanacio

BURLINGTON - Mr. William Yutuc Atanacio, 23, of 2830 Westchester Drive, died at 12:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

A native of Olongapo City, Philippines, he was the son of Mr. Roosevelt Pericio Atanacio and Mrs. Edith Lucas Atanacio, who survive. He was a sales clerk with Belk Beck Department Store in Holly Hill Mall.

Survivors other than his parents include two sisters, Miss Princess Y. Atanacio and Miss Amie Erika Atanacio, both of Burlington; and three brothers, Mr. Don Yutuc Atanacio of Japan, Mr. Omar Y. Atanacio of Burlington and Mr. Roosevelt Y. Atanacio of Bahrain.

A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Graham Memorial Park.

The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 1:30 to 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Marine L. Fuquay

MEBANE - Mrs. Marine L. Fuquay, 73, of 413 North First St., Mebane, died at 5:55 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Vencor Hospital in Greensboro after an illness of 11 months.

A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of Mr. Chalmers Fuquay and Mrs. Nannie Webster Fuquay. She was a retired cosmetologist and a member of Mebane Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Nancy F. Scarlett and Mrs. Cornelia F. 'Skeeter' Burch, both of Mebane; two brothers, Mr. Chester Fuquay of Yanceyville and Mr. Joseph Fuquay of Graham; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mebane Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Mark Loman and the Rev. Tommy Dale Fuquay. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Mebane.

The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Burch, 412 W. Crawford St., Mebane.

Memorials may be made to Mebane Wesleyan Church, 410 N. Fourth St., Mebane, N.C. 27302.

Mr. William F. Moore

GIBSONVILLE - Mr. William Freeman 'Bill' Moore, 86, of 4840 N.C. 87 North, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Dora Stanley Moore, who survives, and the son of Mr. John Thomas Moore and Mrs. Annie Ratcliff Moore, both deceased. He was a retired supervisor after 40 years of service at Burlington Industries, Williamsburg Plant. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, a member of the Adult Bible Class, and former treasurer of the Sunday school. He was a former member of the Altamahaw-Ossippee Civitan Club.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include one daughter, Mrs. Brenda M. Smith of Burlington; one son, Mr. Charles Moore of Angier; four sisters, Mrs. Lucille Ross of Elon College, Mrs. Sally Pritchett of Raleigh, Mrs. Evanell Miller of Graham and Mrs. Gertrude Johnston of Burlington; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. David Moore and Mr. Howard Moore.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shiloh United Methodist Church by Dr. Guy V. Soule Jr., pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 4718 N.C. 87 North, Gibsonville, N.C. 27249.

Mrs. Vera K. Davis

GREENSBORO - Mrs. Vera Belle Keith Davis, 99, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Friends Homes at Guilford in Greensboro.

Born Jan. 31, 1898, in the Newlight precinct corner of Wake County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Maxie Clifton Davis, and the daughter of Mr. Lea Andrew Keith and Mrs. Dora Belle O'Briant Keith, both deceased. She was raised in Durham. She was a Baptist and a Sunday school teacher. She was active in the Daily Vacation Bible School. In 1982, she moved to Greensboro and became a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Ermine 'Pete' Davis Wilson of Greensboro; a son, Mr. Richard Emerson Davis of Graham; a sister, Mrs. Lillian MacFarland of Memphis; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham by the Rev. Bill Mosny.

Memorials may be made to Friends Homes at Guilford Resident Fund, 925 New Garden Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27410.

Hudson Funeral Home in Durham is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lamar R. Wilson

BURLINGTON - Mr. Lamar Reynolds Wilson, 80, a resident of Pleasant Grove Retirement Home, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was a former resident of Wilkins Street.

A native of Monticello, Ga., he was the husband of the late Mrs. Mary Elmore Wilson, and the son of Mr. Lucius Leon Wilson and Mrs. Minnie Reynolds Wilson, both deceased. He was a retired painting contractor and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include one son, Mr. Lucius Reynolds Wilson of Burlington; a stepdaughter, Mrs. May P. Savage of Atlantic Beach; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy 'Dot' Morris of Villa Rica, Ga.; 10 step grandchildren and 12 great-step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Mrs. Elsie Payne Pinnix; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Turner and Mrs. Mildred Lawrence; and four brothers, Mr. Roby Wilson, Mr. Lowery Wilson, Mr. Jack Wilson and Mr. Roy Wilson.

The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Michael Brown. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of the son, Mr. Lucius Wilson, 709 Edinburgh Court, Burlington.

Mrs. Nellie N. Ellington

GRAHAM - Mrs. Nellie Newton Ellington, 83, of 1012 Townbranch Road, Apt. 1F, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after two years of failing health.

A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Donald McIver Ellington and the daughter of Mr. Robert Lee Newton and Mrs. Thelma Lowe Newton, both deceased. She was retired from Burlington Industries, and was a member of Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Gail Moseley of Charleston, S.C.; two sons, Mr. Robert Eugene Ellington of Hopewell, Va. and Mr. William Lewis Ellington of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Ferrier of Spring Hill, Fla., and Mrs. Janice Williams of Graham; one brother, Mr. Roy Newton of Swepsonville; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. R.L. 'Red' Newton.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Frederick Bunts, pastor of Hope Baptist Church, and the Rev. Bennie Smith, pastor of Staley Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will be in Salem United Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will be at the Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 tonight, and at other times at the home of the son, Mr. William L. Ellington, 1306 Cleveland Ave., Burlington.

Mr. Ronald Nixon Sr.

EFLAND - Mr. Ronald Dewey Nixon Sr., 46, of 2511 Mount Willing Road, died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997, at his home.

A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Trenis Pender Nixon who survives, and the son of Mrs. Nola Johnson of Greensboro and the late Mr. Hugh Cyrus Nixon.

Survivors other than his wife and his mother include three sons, Mr. Justin Nixon and Mr. Jeremy Nixon, both of Greensboro, and Mr. Ron Nixon Jr. of the home; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Crystal Castle Elmore of Efland and Miss Amberly Castle of the home; and one sister, Mrs. Gail Poole of Charlotte.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jay Bissett, pastor.

The family will be at the church following the service.

McClure Funeral Service of Mebane is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James L. Bryson

BURLINGTON - Mr. James Linwood 'Turkey' Bryson of 504 Baldwin Road died at 12:35 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

A Caswell County native, he was the husband of Mrs. Betty Corbett Bryson, who survives, and the son of Mr. Willie Bryson and Mrs. Beatrice Brown Bryson, both deceased. He was a cloth inspector for Burlington Industries Pioneer Plant and was a member of Browns Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Cathy Coates Mayo of Durham and Ms. Karen Hawkins and Miss Cristie Hawkins, both of Burlington; and three brothers, Mr. George Raleigh Bryson of Burlington and Mr. Bobby Bryson and Mr. Haywood Bryson, both of Denver; and a granddaughter.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Browns Chapel Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Thurman L. Pinnix and the Rev. Dorothy Torain. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 Tuesday night at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the James Linwood Bryson Memorial Fund, 504 Baldwin Road, Burlington, N.C. 27217.

Mr. Bennie T. Solomon

MEBANE - Mr. Bennie Thomas Solomon, 101, a former resident of 505 N. Charles St., died at 5 p.m. Friday at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Durham after a long illness.

A native of Person County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Nannie Pearl McKee Solomon, and the son of Mr. John Daniel Solomon and Mrs. Minerva Isabella Smithy Solomon, both deceased. He was a retired textile employee. He was an Army veteran of World War I, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Elon College where he held several positions.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Getsy Day of Roxboro, Mrs. Elizabeth Hatcher of Goldsboro and Mrs. Dianne Dean of Salt Lake City, Utah; four sons, Mr. Robert Elbert Solomon and Mr. Harvey T. Solomon, both of Mebane, Mr. Joseph 'Joe' Solomon of Gibsonville and Mr. Ben F. Solomon of Roxboro; one sister, Mrs. Estelle Glasgow of Durham; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; 15 step grandchildren; 18 great-step grandchildren; and one great-great-step grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a grandson.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel by Bishop Richard Cauley, Elder Connie Wheeley and Elder H.B. Glasgow. Burial will be in Burchwood cemetery in Roxboro.

The family will be at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times, at the home of the son, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Elbert Solomon, 710 Wilba Road, Mebane.

Mr. Jack D. Hines

MEBANE - Mr. Jack Donald Hines, 67, of 1622 Saddle Club Road, died at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997, at his home.

He was born May 6, 1930, in Rutherford County, son of Mr. Vernon Eugene Hines and Mrs. Myrtle Parton Hines, both deceased. He was the husband of Mrs. Peggy Edwards Hines, who survives. He was retired from AT&T. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church where he was a choir member, a member of The Believers Sunday School Class, the Jupation Choir and the Men's Fellowship. He was an Air Force veteran.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Ms. Sheila Novella of Burlington and Ms. Jacqueline Hines Woody of Mebane; two sisters, Ms. Sarah Frances Prince of Spindale and Ms. Yvonne Hines of Durham; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Riverside Baptist Church by Pastor Ron Boysel. Burial will be in Lebanon United Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will be at McClure Funeral home in Mebane this evening from 7 to 8:30, and at other times at the home.
