Edna Turner Black, age 90 of Warrensville died Monday, February 17, 2003 at the Ashe Living Center. Mrs. Black was born February 18, 1912 in Grayson County, VA to the late Lee and Virginia Black. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Dolphus Black. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 20th at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. George Grubb and Rev. David Lyall will officiate. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30 till 8:30 Wednesday, February 19th at Badger Funeral Home. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, c/o J. D. Farmer, 292 W. Deep Ford Rd., Lansing, NC 28643. Mrs. Black is survived by: One Son: Walter Black of Warrensville Five Daughters: Betty Warren of Wilkesboro, Jerlene Testerman of Warrensville, Josie Hiatt of Effingham, IL, Joann Kennedy and Bobbie Musgrove both of Sparta. 1 Brother: Rev. Lester Turner of Maryland 2 Sisters: Hazel Wright of Maryland & Thelma Cadarette of Michigan 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Badger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Everett Walter Liddle age 84 of Jefferson, NC died Monday, April 14, 2003 at the Segraves Care Center. Mr. Liddle was born on September 6, 1918 in Ashe County, NC to Walter and Betty Jenkins Liddle. He served in the United States Army, a veteran of World War II. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at the Roans Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Billy Joe Blevins and Rev. Russell Sheets will officiate. Mr. Liddle is survived by: Wife: Pearl Darnell Liddle Daughter: Marlene Wyatt of Jefferson, NC Sons: Tommy Ray and Jeffery Lee Liddle both of Jefferson, NC 4 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Badger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Louise Medley, age 78 of West Jefferson, died May 22, 2003 at her home. Mrs. Medley was born November 30, 1924 in Ashe County to John and Vergie Combs. She was preceded in death by her parents and son Kenneth Medley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 24th at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Steve Leashomb and Rev. Thomas Stevenson will officiate. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 till 9:00 PM Friday, May 23rd at Badger Funeral Home. Mrs. Medley is survived by: Her husband: Bower Edward Medley Son: Gale Dean Medley of North Wilkesboro Four daughters: Evon Medley, Juanita Davis and Wanda Spears all of West Jefferson & Lola Medley of Jefferson Sister: Gladys Pruitt of Crumpler Brother: Donald Combs of West Jefferson 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren also survive. Lucy Darnell Walker age 85 of West Jefferson, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Walker was born August 15, 1917 in Wilkes County to the late William and Alice Darnell. Her husband, Victor preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 6th at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gene Shepherd and Rev. Ted Reynolds will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 till 8:30 PM Wednesday at Badger Funeral Home. Mrs. Walker is survived by: 6 Daughters: Amanda Holman of West Jefferson, NC; Kay Calloway of Jefferson, NC; Helen Barnes of Wilkesboro, NC; Lucille Clifton, Loretta Marsh & Margie Johnson all of Delaware 2 Sons: Jim & Jerry Walker both of Delaware 2 Sisters: Missouri Severt of Millers Creek & Betty Severt of Jefferson 1 Brother: Ardell Darnell of Laurel Springs 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild several nieces & nephews. Marjorie Waldron Waln age 72 of Fleetwood, NC died Friday, April 7, 2003 at the Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Waln was born April 11, 1930 in Canton, Ohio to Ralph and Loyce Wycol Waldron. Her husband Robert Waln preceded her in death. She and her late husband Robert owned and operated the Community Corner Store in Fleetwood. Mrs. Waln enjoyed oil painting and spending time with her family. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 7, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Randall Greene will officiate. Burial will follow in the Big Flatts Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 6, 2003 from 7:00-9:00 P.M. at Badger Funeral Home. Russell Edmond DeBoard, 80, of Grassy Creek, died Sunday morning at the NC Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Mr. DeBoard was born in Grassy Creek on September 10, 1922 to Curtis and Ruth Spencer DeBoard. Mr. DeBoard enjoyed a successful career in trucking. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Russell Sheets and Rev. Tommy McClure at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am prior to the services. Burial will follow at a later date at the Baptist Chapel Church Cemetery. Mr. DeBoard is survived by his wife: Mrs. Ruby Sutherland DeBoard of the Ashe Living Center; two sons: Rondale DeBoard of Phoenix, AZ and Rick DeBoard of Dillsburg, PA; two daughters: Reva Spangler of Dillsburg, PA and Rita White of Cumberland, PA; one brother: Charles Lacy DeBoard of Burlington, NC; two sisters: Madeline Conley and Reba Fuller both of New Cumberland, PA. Twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren also survive. Memorials may be made to the Ashe Living Center PO BOX 130 Jefferson, NC 28640. Jack Robert Lee age 76 of West Jefferson, NC died Thursday, March 13, 2003 at the Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Mr. Lee was born on November 24, 1926 in San Diego, CA to John Clifford and Eleanor Marie Boyd Lee. He was a US Army Veteran, serving his country in the Korean Conflict. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 16, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. at the Mt. Jefferson Presbyterian Church. Rev. Kermit Dancy will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 16, 2003 from 2:00-3:00 P.M. at the Mt. Jefferson Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mt.
