GEORGE
TOBACCOVILLE -- Alice Elizabeth Martin George, 89, of Springwood Care Center in Winston-Salem, formerly of Ridge Road in Tobaccoville, died Monday, October 4, 1999. She was born July 10, 1910 in Forsyth County to William Reilus and Eliza Elvira Long Martin. Along with her parents, Mrs. George was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. George in 1983; a son, Lee V. George in 1989 and an infant daughter, Phyllis Gail George. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Della Shamel and a brother, Arthur Martin. Surviving are one daughter-in-law, Bettye D. George of Winston-Salem; three granddaughters, Phyllis Bell and husband, Wayne, Debbie Cromer and husband, Roger all of Pfafftown, and Judy Mathis and husband, James of Tobaccoville; five great-grandchildren, Benny Adams, Cindy Smith, Josh Bell, Jamie Bell, and Jeremy Cromer; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Johnson of East Bend and Beulah Shore of King; and three brothers, Paul, Grady, and Roy Martin all of Winston-Salem. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Paul Norman will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Slate Funeral Home in King and other times at their respective homes. Memorials may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, P.O. Box 341, Tobaccoville, N.C. 27050.

GWYN
MOUNT AIRY -- Mr. Tony Monroe Gwyn, 78, of 212 Goins Road, Mount Airy, widower of Nancy Lee Gordon Gwyn, passed away on Monday, October 4, 1999 at Duke Medical Center in Durham. Mr. Gwyn was born in Carroll County, Va. on August 9, 1921 the son of the late Joseph L. and Nancy Elizabeth McMillian Gwyn. Mr. Gwyn was retired from Mount Airy Furniture Factory and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dallas Brown of Winston-Salem and Dorothy and Calvin Mooney of Ararat; four sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Louise Gwyn, Bruce and Susan Gwyn, Joe and Donna Gwyn, and Larry and Jan Gwyn all of Mount Airy; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, J.W. and Mary Gwyn of Mount Airy; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Gwyn was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Laken Johnson and Lauren Johnson and several brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 7, 1999 at 12:30 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy. The service will conducted by Rev. Jimmy McCraw with burial in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Rev. Jimmy McCraw, 269 Flat Ridge Road, Cana, Va. 24317.

LIVINGSTON
TOBACCOVILLE -- Mr. Jack Allen Livingston, 51, of Tobaccoville, died at home on October 3, 1999 following an extended period of declining health. A native of Carter County, Tennessee he was born November 27, 1947 to Arnold Levett and Leona McGee Livingston. He was a 1965 graduate of Hampton High School, Hampton, Tenn. He was of the Methodist faith. Following high school, he served in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy from 1966-1970. He was a member of the VFW Post #1134 in Winston-Salem, N.C. Mr. Livingston was employed by Accu Sport INC. He was an avid bowler and was affiliated with the leagues at Parkway Lanes. He was also a member of the Leisure Time Dart League. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Jordan Livingston of the home; two step-children, Jeffery Lynn Jordan and wife, Susan of King and Craig Jordan and wife, Dana of Clemmons; eight step-grandchildren; two sisters, Jessica L. Smith and husband, Daryl of Frankfort, Ky. and Sandra L. Elliott and husband, Johnny of Warner Robins, Ga.; two half-brothers, Robert Livingston and Jerry Livingston; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-father, Fred ''Bud'' Shell. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 today (Wednesday), October 6, 1999 in Crestview Memorial Park officiated by Dr. Alan Rice. Full Military honors will be presented by the VFW District 11, Memorial Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 1100-C South Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103 or the District 11 Memorial Honor Guard, c/o 4955 Gardenview Drive, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27107. Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Rural Hall Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

LOWE
NORTH WILKESBORO -- Mr. David C. Lowe, 86, of Statesville Road, North Wilkesboro, widower of Linnie Belle Queen Lowe, died Monday, October 4, 1999 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at Wilkesboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Alfred E. Andrews, Jr. officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial will be in Moravian Falls Cemetery. Mr. Lowe was born January 15, 1913 in Wilkes County to Carl S. and Velona Stamey Lowe. He was a member of Wilkesboro Baptist Church for 75 years where he served as an usher and was dedicated to the outreach ministry. Mr. Lowe was very well known as a dealer of country hams, furs, and herbs. He was owner/operator of Lowe's Country Hams, Fur, and Herbs operating out of his home. He is survived by one daughter, Jean Lowe Holloway of Moravian Falls; one son, Nelson (Mary) Lowe of Elkin; and six grandchildren, Crystal Holloway, Paula Meadows, Renee' Head, Clay Holloway, Jackie Lowe Aman, and Kathy Lowe. The family will be at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Wednesday night from 6:30 until 8:30. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Wilkesboro Baptist Church, P.O. Box 61, Wilkesboro, N.C. 28697. The members of the Hayes Sunday School class of Wilkesboro Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.

MCCAW
BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Mrs. Lois McCaw, 89, of Brooklyn, N.Y., passed away on September 30, 1999 in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was born on March 17, 1910 in Belton, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene and Minnie Simmons. She resided in Winston-Salem before moving to New York. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Brooklyn. Mrs. McCaw was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Wade McCaw and a daughter, Doris Mitchell. Survivors are her granddaughter, Delois Mitchell; a grandson, Benny Blue; a brother, Willie L. Simmons; a devoted sister-in-law, Maxine Simmons, a devoted cousin, Marion Wallace; and other nieces, nephews, and friends. Grave Side rites will be held at Evergreen Cemetery Friday, October 8, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul A. Lowe officiating. Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of all services and arrangements.

MOORE
Mrs. Vera Olive Charles Moore, 101, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 1999 at the Meadowbrook Terrace of Davie. She was born May 2, 1898 in Forsyth County to Martin Lee Charles and Lenora Yokley Charles. Mrs. Moore spent most of her life in Forsyth County and was a former member of Easton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Robert Clyde Moore. Surviving are two sons, Norman Lee Moore of Winston-Salem and Jimmy Moore of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren, Mike Moore of Raleigh, Ann Moore, Kathy Moore, Gary Winters, Steve Winters all of Winston-Salem, and Judith Holder of Louisiana; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ila Knotts of Temperville, Md.; one nephew; and two nieces. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 1999 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. William F. McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

PENNINGTON
Mrs. Rozella Stoltz Pennington, 90, of Winston-Salem (formerly of Rural Hall), died unexpectedly at her home on October 4, 1999. A native of Forsyth County, she was born January 11, 1909 to David T. and Esther Kapp Stoltz. Mrs. Pennington was a member of Elm Grove United Methodist Church and attended Nazareth Lutheran Church in Rural Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Pennington in 1974 and two brothers, Kerner Stoltz and Vernie Stoltz. Mrs. Pennington is survived by two step-daughters, Delores (Mike) Hausman of Poynette, Wis. and Frances (Dewey) Maggard of Modesto, Calif.; one niece, Mrs. Phyllis Ann Dalton of Lewisville; and one nephew, Jerry Stoltz of Pfafftown. A graveside funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. today at the Nazareth Lutheran Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. J. Dwight Cartner. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Rural Hall Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Nazareth Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 460 Hwy. 65 W., Rural Hall, N.C. 27045.

SHUGART
JONESVILLE -- Rev. Carnie Emmitt Shugart, 81, of 204 Cherry Street, Jonesville, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 1999 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. Rev. Shugart was born in Forsyth County August 16, 1918 to the late Gurney and Hattie Brannon Shugart. He was retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company in Elkin. He was a member of Arlington First Baptist Church where he served as interim pastor on several occasions. He had also pastored churches in Yadkin, Wilkes, Iredell, and Surry counties. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Ernestine Windsor Shugart of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn (Ronald) Clontz of Marion; a grandson, Ted Randall Mastin of Jonesville; two great-grandchildren, Ms. Emily Mastin and Alex Mastin both of Marion; a brother, Grover Shugart of Stanleyville; a nephew, Grover Shugart, Jr. of Winston-Salem; and two nieces, Sharon Cloud and Dianne Todd both of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Arlington First Baptist Church by Rev. Linwood Campbell and Rev. Tim Wolfe. The body will be placed in the church to lie instate from 10:30-11 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home in Elkin.

SIZEMORE
YADKINVILLE -- Elizabeth ''Libby Ann'' Cain Sizemore, 47, a belove wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend of Old US 421 Hwy., Yadkinville, died Monday, October 4, 1999 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center as a result of an automobile accident. She was born July 6, 1952 the daughter of Roger C. Cain and Mary Elizabeth Shugart Cain. She was employed by Diversified Foam of Yadkinville and had attended Pilot View Friends Meeting. Surviving in additin to her parents, are her husband of 30 years, Avery Lee Sizemore; one daughter, Leah Elizabeth Sizemore (George) Frye of Yadkinville; a son, David Lee Sizemore and his fiance', Bobbi Queen of Yadkinville; two sisters, Martha Sue (Jeff) Stout and Sandra Leigh (Scott) Craver both of Yadkinville; and several nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 1999 at Gentry Family Chapel officiated by the Rev. C.G. White, Rev. Don Luellon, and Rev. Richard Eskew. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Highway 601 North of Yadkinville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Cancer Services, Yadkinville, N.C. 27055.

WALSER
Mr. Richard Walser, 69, of Patsy Dr., Winston-Salem, died Tuesday, October 4, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 9, 1930 in Forsyth County to Floyd Red and Mattie Hepler Walser. Mr. Walser was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters. Mr. Walser a faithful member of First United Church of Christ and served as church greeter. Surviving is his brother, Clarence Walser and a sister, Marie Hall both of Winston-Salem. Funeral sevices will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 1999 at First United Church of Christ with Rev. Christa Warise and Rev. Nelson Weller officiating. Mr. Walser will lie instate at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Waughtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to First United Church of Christ, Mikala and Ashely Milligan Fund, 1912 Waughtown St., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27107.
