MOUNT AIRY -- Louise Ball Wilson, 83, widow of Jullian Pete Wilson, of Surry Community Nursing Home, Mount Airy, died Tuesday, October 5, 1999 at N.C. Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, October 7, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home Chapel in Pilot Mountain by Rev. Troy Phillips and Rev. Greg Peak. Burial will be in the Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Cox-Needham on Thursday afternoon one hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

ZWIGARD
Mrs. Doris E. Zwigard, 83, of Winston-Salem, died October 2, 1999 at Clare Bridge Nursing Home. Mrs. Zwigard was born November 15, 1915 in Newark, N.J. to William and Bessie Sigmund. She worked as a fundraiser for the Salvation Army for many years. She was office manager for Becker Painting Contractors in Bernardsville, N.J. and later President of Doral Antiques in Basking Ridge, N.J. for over 10 years. Surviving are her husband Albert of the residence; a daughter, Bette Schmitt of New Providence, N.J.; two sons, Willam of Winston-Salem and Bruce of Coral Gables, Fla.; five grandchildren, William Zwigard, Jr. of Winston-Salem, Brian and Bradley Zwigard of Coral Gables, Fla, William Schmitt of Summit, N.J., and Deborah Schmitt of Hoboken, N.J. Mrs. Zwigard was preceded in death by a grandson, Todd Zwigard of Winston-Salem. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 1999 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, N.C. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, N.C. 28215.

ADAMS
THOMASVILLE -- Tyler Gary, Taylor Don, and Lauren Yvonne Adams, infant triplets of Gary Don and Yvonne Horn Adams of 1169 Remer-Regan Road, Lexington, died Saturday, October 2, 1999 in the Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem. They were born October 2, 1999 in Forsyth County. Surviving are their parents of the home; maternal grandparents, Sadie Ball, Jerry Kilcrease, and Lamar and Pat Horn all of Thomasville; paternal grandparents, Odine and Austine Adams of Thomasville; maternal great-grandfather, James Kilcrease of Thomasville; and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Sally Burke of Commerce, Georgia. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at 2:30 p.m. in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. John Wheeles officiating. The family will receive friends at the home, 1169 Remer-Regan Road, Lexington. The family request memorials be directed to Hillside Park Baptist Church, P.O. Box 543, Thomasville, N.C. 27361.

BEAVER
MURPHY -- Jackie ''Jack'' Beaver, 61, of Columbia, Tenn., formerly of Murphy, died Saturday, October 2, 1999 in a Columbia, Tenn. hospital after an extended illness. A native of Cherokee County, he had been living in Columbia for the past three years. He was the son of Dorothy McDonald Beaver of Murphy and the late Alvin Beaver. Jack had worked for 18 years as a barber in Winston-Salem. For 25 years, he and his wife, Betty, had operated retail leather and gift businesses. He was a member of the Midway Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Beaver. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 25 years, Betty Sutton Beaver; three daughters, Ann Beaver and Pam Beaver Boyd both of Asheville, and Laura Goodwin Bridges of Dalton, Ga.; two sons, Alvin Beaver of Asheville and Tony Beaver of Dalton, Ga.; two brothers, J.E. Beaver of Dalton, Ga. and Calvin Beaver of Murphy; seven granddaughters; and two grandsons. Funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 1999 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Randall Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Nephews as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy. The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Murphy Chapter, P.O. Box 1151, Murphy, N.C. 28906. Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy is in charge of all arrangements.

BILLINGS
NORTH WILKESBORO -- Mrs. Mary Martha Billings, 90, widow of Jessie Martin Billings of Germantown Road, Moravian Falls, died Sunday, October 3, 1999 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Billings was born June 12, 1909 in Wilkes County to Rufus Alexander and Bertha Lou Ellen Sparks Cain. She was a member of Moravian Falls Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Willa Crysel, Ella Schmitt, and Ada Walker all of Moravian Falls; two sisters, Maie Joines of Wilkesboro and Frances Schultz of Woodstock, Virginia; one half-brother, Tommy Smithey of Moravian Falls; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 o'clock Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at Moravian Falls Baptist Church with the Rev. Jay Johnson, the Rev. Jack Calloway, and the Rev. E.W. McMurray officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial will be in the Moravian Falls Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service, 180 Sparta Road, North Wilkesboro, from 6:30 until 8:30 tonight. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Moravian Falls Baptist Church, 1940 Moravian Falls Road, Moravian Falls, N.C. 28654.

CARR
Mrs. Ethel J. Carr, 65, of Winston-Salem, died Saturday at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Woosley Chapel of the United Methodist Children's Home in Winston-Salem. Graveside services will be 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe with Rev. Bill Medlin officiating. Mrs. Carr was born November 24, 1933 in Buncombe County, N.C., daughter of the late Elliott Corwith and Ethel Steere Jolliff. She was retired as a consultant for the Weekday Early Childhood of the Western N.C. District and The Children's Home of Winston-Salem. Survivors include her husband, Jack Carr of the home; one son, Edward C. Carr of Lexington, N.C.; three brothers, Charles Jolliff of Mobile, Alabama, Bruce Jolliff of Knoxville, Tenn., and John K. Jolliff of Raleigh, N.C.; and one sister, Mrs. Mary George Smith of Lynchburg, Va. Memorials may be made to United Methodist Children's Home of Winston-Salem, 1001 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27104. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at Lakeland Memorial Park. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is serving the family of Mrs. Carr.

CORNELIUS
Mrs. Fern Warden Cornelius, 84, of 5317 Speas Ferry Road, died Sunday, October 3, 1999 at the Yadkin Nursing Center in Yadkinville. She was born in Yadkin County on June 7, 1915 to Bettie Reece Warden. She was a member of Stony Knoll United Methodist Church where she was a charter member of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Cornelius graduated from East Bend High School in 1934. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Cornelius and two grandchildren, Jason and Ashley Cornelius. Surviving are her children, Bettie (Robert) Ratledge of Yadkinville, Phyllis (Spencer) Greene of Clemmons, Alvis (Hazel) Cornelius of Yadkinville, Jerry (Dottie) Cornelius, Keith Cornelius, and Fred Cornelius all of East Bend, and Joel (Gloria) Cornelius of Yadkinville; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at 2:00 at the Stony Knoll United Methodist Church by Rev. Dan McClure. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 to lie instate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 Tuesday evening at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend. COX
PILOT MOUNTAIN -- Mr. Joe Daniel Cox, 69, husband of Louise Cottingham Cox, of 324 Westfield Road, Pilot Mountain, N.C., died early Monday morning, October 4, 1999 at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. Mr. Cox was born in Rockwell, Rowan County, N.C. August 25, 1930 to Leroy L. and Myrtie Lyerly Cox. Mr. Cox served in the U.S. Army for 20 years before retiring. He then moved to Pilot Mountain and was owner and operator of Joe's Drive Inn for 23 years. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 9436 Pilot Mountain, was a past master of Pilot Masonic Lodge 493 A.F.and A.M., and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Louise C. Cox of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, LuAnn Cox and friend, Terry Goins of Westfield, and Cindy and Ricky Felts of Rural Hall; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Joe and Sheila Cox of Pinnacle and David Robert and Melissa Cox of Westfield; seven grandchildren, Rodney Cox and wife, Charity, Joey Snyder and wife, Shannon, Jackie Cox, Danny Cox, Karla Felts, Lauren Cox, and Jonathan Cox. one great-grandson, Joshua Cox; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Derwood (Woody) and Susan Cox of Elkin, George Cox of Lenior, and Elsie Cox. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, October 6, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans National Cemetery in Salisbury, N.C. by Rev. Milton Sewell. The family will receive friends at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home and Chapel in Pilot Mountain, N.C. Tuesday evening, October 5, 1999 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at other times at the Cox Home, 324 Westfield Road, Pilot Mountain, N.C. Due to cemetery regulations in National Cemetery limiting flowers the family requests that memorials be made in Floral Tribute or to the East Surry High School Athletic Fund, 705 West Main Street, Pilot Mountain, N.C.

DUCK
Mr. William Roscoe Duck, Jr., 59, known to family and friends as ''Mr. D'' of 1109 Progressive Lane passed away on Monday, October 4, 1999 at his residence following a period of illness. He was a native of Winston-Salem, N.C. born on August 4, 1940 to William R. Duck, Sr. and Willie Mae Weldon. He was a graduate of Atkins High School, Class of 1958. He was a retired veteran of 23 years of the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division. He was a member of the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of Senior Citizens Auxiliary and was a retired employee of Sara Lee Underwear Division. he was also a member of Red Rock Lodge, #809, P.H.A., Walkertown, N.C. Knights of Templer, Royal Arch Mason, Select Master, the American Legion Post #453. He is survived by his wife, Annie Rice Duck of the home; a son, William R. (Phyllis) Duck III of Laurel, Md.; three daughters, Katrina P. (Charles) Eldridge, Crystal Phelps-Murray and Sybil C. Phelps; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Willie Mae Weldon of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one brother, Theodore (Carrie) Weldon; one sister, Shirley J. Scott; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Rosa W. Rice; a brother-in-law, Richard E. (Shirley) Rice; a devoted cousin, Ms. Jeanette Weldon of East Orange, N.J.; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at 3:30 p.m. from the New Jerusalem Baptist Church with Reverend Samuel J. Cornelius officiating. Interment will be in the Salisbury National Cemetery. The family visitation will be from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church. (RUSSELL)

YADKINVILLE -- Mr. Homer Gabard, 91, of Flemming Road, passed away Monday, October 4, 1999 at Hoots Memorial Hospital. He was born December 2, 1907 in Yadkin County to the late Charlie and Etta Reece Gabard. Mr. Gavard is survived by his wife, Margaret F. Gabard of the home. Arrangements are incomplete with Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville serving the family.
