Norman Brantl
Funeral services for Norman Brantl, 77, Breckenridge, MN, were held on Friday, November 5, 2004 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Breckenridge, MN. Father Dale Lagodinski and Father Stan Wieser were celebrants. Mr. Brantl died Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at his home in Breckenridge, MN.
Norman Brantl, son of Albert and Josephine Brantl was born on May 21, 1927 in Crookston, MN. He attended school in Ada, MN. He joined the US Army in 1947.
On April 28, 1949, he married Theresa Kappes at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, in Ada. The couple made their home in Grand Forks, and later moved to Grafton, Crookston and Des Moines, IA before settling in Breckenridge to raise their family. He was employed at Cargill, Inc. for 31 years, most of which were spent as facility manager in Breckenridge. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Breckenridge, Norman was a 4th Degree Knight and he was a member of the Eagles Club in Wahpeton. He also served as board member for St. Frances Home in Brekcnridge.
He is survived by his wife Theresa “Tootie”, Brekcnridge; children, Mark (Diana) Brantl, Great Falls, MT, Steven (Wesa) Brantl, Manhatton, KS, David (Vicki) Brantl, Burlington, CO, Judith (Todd), Bjerk, Mora, MN, Daniel (Kathy) Brantl, Lisbon, Laurie (Steven) Oren, Barnesville, Christopher (Tracy) Brantl, Wahpeton; 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Wagner, Ada, Gladys (Bill) Thorpe, Crookston, Rose (Jim) Bredman, Crookston; brothers, Michael Brantl, Minneapolis and John (Brenda) Brantl, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Josephine Brantl, daughter, Diane Theresa Brantl and brother, Paul Brantl.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Mark Brantl, Steven Brantl, David Brantl, Judith Bjerk, Daniel Brantl, Laurie Oren and Christopher Brantl.
Interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Brekcnridge, MN.
Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, was in charge of arrangements.

Robert W. Johnson
Funeral services for Robert W. Johnson, 58, Jamestown, were held on Thursday, November 4, 2004 at the United Presbyterian Church, Jamestown. Reverend David Thompson officiated. Mr. Johnson died Sunday, October 31, 2004 at Jamestown.
Robert Walter Johnson, son of Donald and Pearl (Youse) Johnson was born on July 28, 1946 in Valley City. He graduated from Montpelier High School. Robert entered the US Army on September 28, 1964 in Fargo and served in Germany for three years. He was discharged on September 11, 1967 at Fort Hamilton, NY. He attended Ellendale College, UND Branch in Ellendale.
On August 10, 1968, he married Arlene Zimmerman in Jamestown. They lived in Valley City where he worked as a clerk for Gamble Co. and in construction for Sorenson Construction. They moved to Jamestown and Robert managed the Kurda Mills Elevator in Spiritwood, ND. He was transferred to Aberdeen where they lived for four years and Robert managed the Kurda Mills Elevator in Westport, SD. They returned to Jamestown where he was employed as a regional manager for Vigortone Ag Products for 23 years.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Johnson, Jamestown; two daughters, Shannon (Tim) Stinar, Jamestown and Stephanie (Brian) Zimprich, Fargo; and one sister, Patty Russell (Jerry Sturdevent) of Janesville, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Interment at Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown
Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, was in charge of arrangements.

Gertrude Costello
Funeral services for Gertrude “Trudy” Costello, 92, were held October 30, 2004 at the Glen Haven Memorial Park in Sylmar, CA. She passed away on October 22, 2004 in Mesa, AZ due to complications from a fall.
Trudy was born January 31, 1912 to William and Emma (Fisher) Newman, Lisbon, ND. She was one of eleven brothers and sisters. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1931. She is survived by her son Patrick Costello, Chandler, AZ, her granddaughter Colleen Lewis, Chandler, AZ, her sister Dorothy Zimmerman, Sunland, CA, and her sister Betty Kylstad, Lisbon, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Costello who passed away in Burbank, CA in 1973 at age 58 and her son, Michael Costello, who died in a private airplane accident in 1965 at age 21. She now rests between them.

Myrtle O. Jensen
Funeral services for Myrtle Jensen, 89, Valley City, were held on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at Grace Free Lutheran Church, Valley City. Reverend Joel Rolf officiated. Mrs. Jensen died Sunday, November 21, 2004 at Mercy Hospital, Valley City.
Myrtle Ovidia Jensen, daughter of Albert and Olga (Egge) Sorenson was born on January 5, 1915 at Warren, ND. She grew up and attended school at Warren and then was employed on farms in the area.
On January 8, 1943, she married Hjalmer Jensen at Fort Ransom. The couple farmed near Fort Ransom until 1951 and then moved to Valley City. Myrtle was employed at several Valley City restaurants over the years, including the American Cafe, the DX Cafe, the Hi-Liner Cafe, and Post Specialty. Mr. Jensen died in 1982. She retired in 1985 and continued to make her home in Valley City. Myrtle was a member of Grace Free Lutheran Church, the Women’s Missionary Federation and the Morning Circle at Grace Free Lutheran.
She is survived by two sons, Marlin (Conny) Jensen, Sanborn, ND, Jim (Rachel) Jensen, Valley City; two daughters, Alice (Brent) Olstad, Minot and Marlys (Daniel) Hannig, Oriska; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alice (Wesley) Horsager, Kathryn. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and one brother.
Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Valley City.
Peterson-Johnson-Schuldt, Valley City, was in charge of arrangements.

Wayne K. Lunneborg
Funeral services for Wayne K. Lunneborg, 69, Hawley, MN, were held on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 in St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. Father Jerry Rogers officiated. Mr. Lunneborg died Saturday, November 20, 2004 at the Palliative Care Unit in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Wayne K. Lunneborg, son of Herman and Navella Lunneborg, was born on June 20, 1935 on a farm near Delamere, ND. He attended and graduated from Milnor High School. He served in the Korean War from 1953 to 1955 as a high-speed radio operator.
On June 1, 1957, he married Nancy Merchant at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Kent, MN. He served for 42 years as general manager of many grain elevators in North Dakota and Minnesota. He retired from the Hawley Co-op Elevator, Hawley, MN in June 1997, where they continued to make their home. Wayne was an active member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, charter member of the Hawley F.F.A., Milnor VFW, and served on many church councils and other boards, including the Board of Directors for the North Dakota Grain Dealers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Tim (Mary) and Steve; two daughters, Shelley (Mike) Blomer and Lisa (Aaron) Bjorndahl; eight grandchildren; one brother, Myron (Delores) Enderlin; and two sisters, Darlyne (Lloyd) Gibbon and Sharon Tschakert. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Eugene.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Dan Leak, John Leak, Robbie Leak, Bob Lunneborg, Mike Leak and Jason Leak. Honorary pallbearers were his great-grandchildren and Rosehaven special lake friends.
Music was provided by organist Emily McLoughlin and soloist John Bedore.
Interment at Hawley Cemetery, Hawley.

Harold H. Wichmann
Funeral services for Harold H. Wichmann, 81, Bismarck, formerly of Fargo, were held on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at the Shepherd of the Prairie Moravian Church, Fargo. Mr. Wichmann died Saturday, November 20, 2004 at Missouri Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.
Harold H. Wichmann, son of Arnold and Emma (Heuer) Wichmann was born on September 23, 1923 in Fargo. He grew up and attended grade school in the Lynchburg-Durbin, ND area and graduated from Casselton High School, Casselton, ND. Harold entered into the US Army in July 1944 and served in Japan. Harold was honorably discharged in September 1946.
On June 29, 1947, he married Dorothy Miller. Harold worked at Bardwell Robinson in Fargo for 16 years. Harold attended Interstate Business College, Fargo. He then worked various jobs till he retired. Harold was a past resident of the North Dakota Veteran’s Home, Lisbon until he moved to the Missouri Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck in 2000.
He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Lou) Hoover, Happy Jack, AZ, Pat (Jerry) Kuntz, Bismarck; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Lester (Louise) Wichmann, Minneapolis; one sister Marion (Wayne) Tesmer, Fargo and a sister-in-law Marilyn Wichmann, Detroit Lakes. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Charles and his brother Kenneth Wichmann.
Interment at North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan.
Fredrickson’s Funeral Chapel, Kindred, was in charge of arrangements.

Harold L. Thompson
Harold L. Thompson, 65, Fargo died Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico. No services were held.
Harold L. Thompson, son of Lillian and Ira Thompson was born on September 23, 1939 in Fargo. He grew up and attended school in Fargo. After graduating from high school, he joined the Navy. He served on the USS Laffey.
After being discharged in 1962 he lived on the west coast for about five years before returning to Fargo. He then attended NDSU in Fargo and obtained a degree in electrical engineering, graduating in May of 1969. He became a traveling engineer and worked in several different states in the span of his career. He retired in Fargo.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley Zimmerman, Motley, MN; two nieces; and two great nephews and a great niece.
Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, was in charge of arrangements.

Larry R. Miller
Larry R. Miller, 52, Fargo, ND died Monday, November 22, 2004 in Innovis Hospital, Fargo.
Mr. Miller was born on October 23, 1952 in Jamestown, ND. Larry grew up in Jamestown and Enderlin, where he attended schools and graduated from Enderlin High School.
Larry married Ginger Arndt on December 9, 1972 in Enderlin. They moved to the Fargo/Moorhead area and he began working for Fairmont Creamery of Moorhead, for the next ten years. Larry then began working for the Fireway Co. of Moorhead for the next several years. He then began working with Nardini Fire Equipment of Fargo, where he was employed at the time of his death.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Inez.
He is survived by his wife, Ginger, Fargo; one son, Jamison John (Nicole), Fargo; one daughter, Jenna Miller, Fargo; four grandchildren, Zackery, Noah, Joshua and Amara; one brother, Dale (Connie), Kindred, ND; two sisters, Ronda (Duane) Skramstad, Enderlin, Nancy Ganyo, Kingman, AZ; several nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Billye Myhre, Mandan, ND.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 27, 2004 at Hope Lutheran Church South Campus, Fargo. Officiants included Reverend Paul Nynas and youth minister, Jeremy Johnson.
Pallbearers were Dave Boeckel, Dave Thene, Al Bosman, Dan Mackner, Drew Miller, Dustin Miller, John Skramstad and Steve Bachand.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry’s grandchildren, Zachery, Noah, Joshua and Amara.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
West Funeral Home, West Fargo and Casselton were in charge of arrangements.
