Dr. Dawn M. Johnson
A Funeral Mass was celebrated for Dr. Dawn M. Johnson, 48, Lisbon, on Thursday, December 2, 2004 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Lisbon. The Rev. Andrew Dudzinski was the celebrant. Dr. Johnson died Saturday, November 27, 2004 at home.
Dawn J. Hovland, daughter of Larry O. and Darlene (Rood) Hovland was born on November 2, 1956 in Moorhead, MN. She attended school in Enderlin and Lisbon, graduating from LHS. Dawn graduated from Carroll College in Helena, MT as a Dental Hygienist. She continued her education at Valley City State University and at NDSU. In June 1996 she received a doctorate from University of Minnesota Dental School, graduating with honors.
On October 21, 1983, she married John Johnson in Lisbon. Dawn worked for a periodontist in St. Cloud. She later worked for Dr. Ted Hagen in Valley City and Dr. Duane Krivarchka in Lisbon. She opened her own Dental Clinic in September 1996.
She is survived by her husband, John, Lisbon; two sons, Wesley and Wells, both at home; her mother, Darlene (Virgil) Heldt, Frazzee, MN, and Mesa, AZ; one brother, Ken (Deb) Bemidji, MN; and two sisters, Renae (Al) Bixby, New Orleans, LA and Denae Hovland, Prescott, AZ. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Hovland, D.V.M.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Joel Wiltse, Harvey Hoenhause, Bob Granlund, Eric Klingberg, Barry Kylstad and Jim Kylstad.
Music was provided by organist Gary Barta, soloist Brita Johnson, cantors, Cheryl Kelly and Diana Schultz and special music by Sound Celebration.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon
Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, was in charge of arrangements.

Katherine M. Finger
Funeral services for Katherine M. Finger, 93, Wishek, formerly of Enderlin, were held on Sunday, November 28, 2004 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek. Pastor Brandon Woodruff and Pastor Allen Finger officiated. Mrs. Finger died Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at the Wishek Home for the Aged, Wishek.
Katherine Margaret Finger, daughter of Jacob, Sr. and Barbara (Witman) Rotenberger was born on August 14, 1911, in Echiem Russia. At six months of age, Katherine came to the U.S. with her parents and settled on a farm near Enderlin where she attended school in rural Ransom County.
On October 5, 1933, she married Karl K. Finger at the Anselm Lutheran Church, rural Enderlin. The couple farmed south of Enderlin for several years and later purchased a farm north of Enderlin and farmed until May of 1961 when they moved to Jamestown where her husband did finish carpentry. Karl died January 28, 1983. Katherine moved to Wishek, March of 1999 and later entered the Wishek Home for the Aged in 2001.
She is survived by one daughter, Arla (Donald) Babitzke, Wishek; two sons, Howard (Elaine) Finger, Fullerton, CA, Duane (Beverly) Finger, Livermore, CO; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; five brothers, Alex Rotenberger, Victor Rotenberger, Fredrick (Mavis) Rotenberger, all of Lisbon, Ted (Lois) Henning, MN, Ed (Mary) Rotenberger, Detroit Lakes; four sisters, Frieda Hanson, Auburn, WA, Sarah Sutton, Waterloo, IA, Ilene Schlader, Oakes, Beverly (Wayne) Jorgenson, Valley City; two sister-in-laws, Lydia Rotenberger, Gwinner and Jo Rotenberger, Lisbon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl, one infant son LeRoy, her parents, two brothers, one sister, two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Interment at Pontiac Lutheran Cemetery, rural Enderlin.

Harold Kenyon, Sr.
Funeral services for Harold Kenyon, Sr., 74, Apache Junction, AR, formerly of Englevale, were held on Monday, November 29, 2004 at the Bunker’s Desert View Funeral Chapel in Mesa, AZ. Mr. Kenyon died Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at the Banner Hospital in Mesa, AZ.
Harold “Lee” Kenyon, son of Harold and Letty (Severson) Kenyon was born on December 30, 1929 in Fargo. He grew up and attended rural school near Englevale and graduated with the class of 1947 from Lisbon High School, Lisbon. Lee then attended Coyne Electrical College in Chicago, IL before returning to the Englevale area, where he farmed.
On July 19, 1952, he married Alice L. Williamson, in Lisbon. The couple moved to Plymouth, MN in 1955 where Lee worked as an electrician until the time of his retirement in 1990. In January of 1990, Lee and Alice moved to Apache Junction, AZ. Lee was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #58 out of Detroit, MI from 1955 to 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, Apache Junction, AZ; two sons, Harold, Jr. and Terry (Gail) all of Brighton, MI: one daughter, Valerie (Doug) Bartrum, Hartland, MI; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers (Delbert) Wood, Gilbert, AZ, Kathleen (John) Sharff, Spokane, WA and Florence (Dennis) Holm, Wolsey, SD; and one sister-in-law, Helen (Roscoe) Dahle, Milbank, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Christopher.
Interment will be at a later date at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery, near Wyndmere.
Bunker’s Desert View Funeral Home, Mesa, AZ, was in charge of arrangements.

Sharon A. Streich
Funeral Mass for Sharon Ann Streich, 61, Billings, MT will be held Monday, December 6, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church Lisbon. The Rev. Andrew Dudzinski was celebrant. Sharon A. Streich passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at her home in Billings.

John D. Norgard
Funeral services for (John) David Norgard, 39, Cooperstown, ND, were held on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Mr. Norgard died Monday, November 29, 2004 in MeritCare Hospital in Fargo.
John David Norgard, son of Maynard and Shirley (Savre) Norgard was born on October 29, 1965 in Cooperstown. He grew up and attended school in Cooperstown and graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1984. He attended NDSCS in Wahpeton where he received a degree in Ag. Maintenance/ Business.
He worked with his family on the family farm and also worked for a short period at Tufte Manufacturing in Glenfield, ND. He continued farming and began working for Sheyenne Tooling in Cooperstown in the fall of 1989. He retired from farming in 1991 and continued working at Sheyenne Tooling until ill health forced him to retire in July 2003.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Shirley (Norgard) and Terry Short, Cooperstown; one sister, Maria (Roger) Provost, Clyde, KS; one stepbrother, Terry (Paula) Short, West Fargo; five stepsisters, Theresa (Jeff) Hazemann, Moorhead, Denise (Tom) Christianson, Upham, ND, Laura (Ron) Rader, Lisbon, Jean (Andrew) Zink, Garrison, and Connie (Bruce) Kline, Bowman; and one step-grandfather, Carl (Joanne) Goplen. He was preceded in death by his father, Maynard, his grandparents, and one uncle, John Savre.
Interment at Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown.

Claudia K. Sperling
Funeral services for Claudia K. Sperling, 59, Detroit Lakes, MN, were held on Sunday, December 5, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, MN. Pastor Dan Babine officiated. Mrs. Sperling died Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at St. Mary’s Regional Health Center, Detroit Lakes, MN.
Claudia K. Sperling, daughter of Wayne and Bertha (Blauert) Newman was born on July 2, 1945 in Detroit Lakes. She grew up and attended Country School in Height of Land Township (rural Frazee, MN. She graduated from Frazee High School in 1963. She then attended X-Ray Technician School at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. She then completed her schooling at Moorhead State University.
On May 7, 1966, she married Allan R. Sperling in Height of Land Township. They made their home in rural Detroit Lakes. Claudia has worked as an X-Ray Technician for Dakota Clinic in Detroit Lakes for 28 years. Claudia was instrumental in starting the Breast Cancer Support group in Detroit Lakes.
She is survived by her husband, Allan, Detroit Lakes; her mother, Bertha Strom, Detroit Lakes; two daughters, Kim (Brian) Smith, Frazee, Kay (Steve) Utke, Enderlin; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Newman and two stepfathers, Paul Miller and Ed Strom.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Ginny Chadbourne, Kristi McKenzie, Kay Larson, Paul Greggersen, Kathy Hendrickson, Bonnie Helm, Joan Moses and Donna Nester.
Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, was in charge of arrangements.

Jeffrey L. Carlson
God opened his arms and welcomed our beloved Jeffrey Lee home. Although it broke our hearts to lose him, we know he's safe there with other loved ones that have gone before him. Jeffrey died Sunday, January 23, 2005 from injuries sustained from a car accident.
Jeffrey Lee Carlson was born March 18, 1974, in Fargo, ND to Donna (Richard) and David Carlson. He attended Grace Lutheran School and graduated from Fargo South High School in 1992. He served in the United States Air Force stationed at Minot AFB for three years. He was currently employed by Bobcat in Gwinner, ND. He is survived by his parents, Donna and David Carlson; one brother, Jon (Renae) Carlson; one niece, Leah Carlson; one nephew, Joshua Carlson; and his grandparents, Tony and Leone Richard. He is also survived and loved by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his sister, Amy Carlson and grandparents, Odell and Evelyn Carlson.
Jeffrey will be remembered for his contagious smile, his kind and loving personality and his sense of humor. He loved being with family and friends at Cotton Lake, MN where he enjoyed fishing and all water sports. He also loved hunting with his family and friends at his aunt and uncle's farm near Leonard, ND.
Jeffrey, you've always been a good friend, brother and son. We will always miss you. We love you and look forward to the day when we can see you again.
Funeral Service were held Friday, January 28, 2005, at Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
Internment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.

Alvin E. Hieggelke
Funeral services for Alvin E. Hieggelke, 88, Lisbon, were held on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Reverend Donald Polege officiated. Mr. Hieggelke died Saturday, January 22, 2005 at Parkside Lutheran Home, Lisbon.
Alvin E. Hieggelke, son of Otto and Wilhelmina (Holweg) Hieggelke was born on October 19, 1916 in rural Buttzville. He attended Buttzville School and Lisbon High School, graduating in 1934. Alvin attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, MO, where he studied accounting.
On July 24, 1945, he married Helen Grant in Moorhead. She died October 8, 1993.
On January 25, 1995 he married Alice Hiebert Gorsuch in Las Vegas. Alvin worked as a bookkeeper for a Ford Dealership and at Henry Fields Nursery in Iowa. He worked for Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego. He returned to North Dakota to raise sheep. He then worked at Armour Livestock in West Fargo. After his marriage to Helen they farmed near Lisbon. They moved into Lisbon in 1981. After his marriage to Alice they continued to live in Lisbon.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, Lisbon; and one sister, Alice Olson, Lisbon. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbert, Harvey and Harry.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Keith Meyer, Monty Haugen, William Funk, Marvin Reinke, Larry Schultz and Robert Elijah.
Music was provided by organist Louise Kunze and soloist Charlene Rondestvedt.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Mary S. Carter
Funeral services for Mary S. Carter, 90, LaMoure, were held on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 in The Lerud Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home, Valley City. Reverend Thomas Puffe officiated. Mrs. Carter died Thursday, January 20, 2005 in The St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure.
Mary S. Hanson, daughter of Nels and Carrie Hanson was born on June 3, 1914 in Lisbon. She was raised in Lisbon and graduated from high school there.
On May 10, 1932, she married Kenneth Carter in Lisbon. Kenneth’s grain elevator employment led them to live in Adrian, Spiritwood and Oriska before moving to Rudyard, MT in 1957. There she was employed for ten years as a checkout clerk at Sanviks Brother’s Grocery and Hardware Store. In 1975, after her husband’s passing, she moved back to Lisbon. In 1996 she moved to Jamestown and lived there until 2003 when she entered St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Bolme, Adrian, ND, Jean (Kent) Miller, Adrian, ND; two sons, Jerome (Diane) Carter, Monarch, MT, Jon (Kathy) Carter, Laurel, MT; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, two sisters, one son-in-law and one grandson.
Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, near Valley City in the spring.
The Lerud-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home, Valley City, was in charge of arrangements.
