Wayne W. Baker
Memorial funeral services for Wayne W. Baker, 67, Wahpeton, were held on Monday, January 3, 2005 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. Reverend Alan R. Werth officiated. Mr. Baker died Monday, December 27, 2004 on a cruise ship out of Florida.
Wayne Willard Baker, son of William W. and Sarah E. (Krueger) Baker was born on June 6, 1937 at Lisbon. He was baptized on June 15, 1939 by Reverend John S. Wilds at the Faith Methodist Episcopal Church, Lisbon and confirmed on March 22, 1959 by Reverend Henry Fry, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. He grew up in Hankinson where he attended school.
On April 4, 1959, he married Janet Brand at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton by Reverend Henry Fry. He worked for Howard Roofing in Breckenridge, moving to Williston where he managed Howard Roofing Company. They returned to Wahpeton where he worked for Twin City Roofing for many years, later working for Krueger Roofing. During his semi-retired years he worked for Dave Bernstein Construction. Wayne was a member of Immanual Lutheran Church, Wahpeton.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, Wahpeton one son, Brad (Kim) Baker, Bellevue, Idaho; five daughters, Bethanie (Clint) Lohman, Bozeman, MT, Benae (Mike) Freeberg, Colfax, Carla (Eraine) Schumacher, Shakopee, MN, Caryn (Todd) Klosterman, Mooreton, Bonita Baker, Fargo; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, Wesley (Darlene) Baker, Aurora, MN, Alfred (Ardeen) Baker, Graceville, MN; and three sisters, Ethel Hoefs, Breckenridge, Florence (Jim) Bladow, Hankinson and Shirley (Duane) Marohl, Wahpeton. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother Ernest.
A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, was in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn A. Stevens
Evelyn A. Stevens, 91, Seminole, FL, died Friday, December 10, 2004 at her home.
Evelyn A. Stevens, daughter of Andrew and Tillie (Tank) Zacharias was born on June 2, 1913 in Fowler, MT. In 1915 they moved to the homestead farm near Eastedge, ND. She grew up and attended grade school in Eastedge and high school (1930) in Lisbon. She worked in Lisbon before marrying.
She married Herman Jorgenson. They farmed briefly until his death in 1944. She then attended business school in Fargo and worked for Johnson Seed Co. in Lisbon. In 1952 she moved to Midland, MI and was employed at Dow Chemical Co. as Office Professional.
In 1964 she married Ed Stevens, who also worked for Dow as a Professional Engineer. They moved to Edwardsville, IL and on to Houston TX where they retired in 1971 and then moved to Florida in 1973.
She is survived by two step-daughters, Judith K. Harvey, Crawfordsville, IN, Barbara J. Stevens, St. Petersburg, FL; two step-sons, William N. Stevens, Edwardsville, IL, David B. Stevens, Katy, TX; one brother, Winfred Zacharias, Midland, MI; three sister-in-laws, Edith Zacharias, Kathryn, Linda Zacharias, Columbus, OH and Lorraine Zacharias, San Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one daughter and four brothers.
There will be an internment service in Lisbon in late spring, at a date yet to be determined.

Lester L. Gregor
Lester Leland Gregor, son of Joseph and Ellen (Taylor) Gregor, was born August 10, 1921, in rural Milnor, ND. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Milnor High School. He farmed most of his life on the family farm before moving to Moorhead. Lester was very active in the community of Milnor, serving on many county election boards along with being an active booster for the Milnor swimming pool.
He married Lucille Solberg on March 23, 1942. She passed away in April of 1997.
He married Treva Beckstrom in July of 1984, and she passed away in August of 1991. Lester married Olga Meyer on July 3, 1993, in Moorhead where they made their home.
Lester loved attending auction sales and rummage sales, and was a man of talents who could fix and repair almost anything. He was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Lester Gregor died Wednesday, December 15, 2004, in Moorhead Healthcare Center, Moorhead, at the age of 83. He had been at the Healthcare Center since January 19, 2004, and truly was an inspiration to all who cared for him. His sense of humor and endurance in life never ceased.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Olga Meyer, Moorhead; three sons and two daughters, Robert Gregor (friend Clara Rebel), Milnor, Patricia (Thomas) Potter, Minneapolis, Leslie Joe (Gloryie) Gregor, Milnor, Susan (Cameron) Campbell, Lisbon, and Gregory Gregor, Milnor; 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, James (Sigrid) Beckstrom, Moorhead, Carol (Bill) Sorenson, Fargo, ND, LeeAnn (Rick) Gilbertson, Dilworth, MN, Les (Karen) Meyer, Denver, GO, Diane Kolodjiez, Melbourne, FL, and Cheri Meyer, Minneapolis; one sister, Pearl (Edwin) Bleyhl, Eugene, OR.
In addition to two wives, Lester was preceded in death by one son, James; one daughter, Karen; and his parents.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 20, 2004 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Reverend Bruce Noennig officiated.
Music was provided by organist Kara Ellefson.
Pallbearers were Gary Bloom, Kelly Danielson, Clyde Ellefson, Dan Grohnke, Brian Meyer, Marvin Weispfenning and Al Ziegler.
Honorary pallbearers were all his family, friends and caregivers at Moorhead Healthcare Center.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead was in charge of arrangements.

Ardell M. Hansen
Funeral services for Ardell M. Hansen, 84, Gwinner, were held on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at GA Lutheran Church, Gwinner. Reverend Josh Schunk officiated. Mr. Hansen died Friday, December 17, 2004 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo.
Ardell M. Hansen, son of Clarence and Gina (Melroe) Hansen was born on October 3, 1921 in rural Forman. He graduated from Forman High School. He also attended Valley City State University. He joined the Air Corps in 1942.
On March 22, 1945, he married Doreen Hall, in England. Ardell worked for Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego, CA until joining the Air Corps. They farmed near Forman until 1955 when he began working for Grothe Implement in Forman and later for Melroe Mfg. in Gwinner where he became traffic manager. They moved to Gwinner in 1960. Ardell retired in 1982. He continued working for Donnie Colburn and then J and M Printing in Gwinner. Ardell was instrumental in starting Gwinner Community Development Corp. which contributed to many projects in Gwinner. He was the first Gwinner Citizen of the Year in 1979. He served as president of ND Motors Carriers from 1975-1977 and served on the National Motor Carrier Board. He was a member of Lester W. Peterson Legion Post in Gwinner.
He is survived by his wife, Doreen Hansen, Gwinner; three sons, David (Donna), Gwinner, Rodney (Paula), Gwinner, Kevin (Tracy), Milnor; four daughters, Carolyn (Steve) Jacobson, Gwinner, Judith Greenley, Lisbon, Lannae (Miles) Johnson, Trudy (Duane) Peterson, Gwinner.; 23 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Lyle Hansen, Ben Hansen, Earl Steen, Allan Welker, Greg Glarrum, and Roger Zetocha. Honorary pallbearers were all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Music was provided by organist Becky Salberg.
Interment at Oak Sargent Cemetery, Cogswell.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Gwinner, was in charge of arrangements.

Dale Schoephoerster
Funeral services for Dale C. Schoephoerster, 78, Lodi, WI, formerly of Lisbon, were held on Monday, December 13, 2004 at First Lutheran Church, Lodi, WI. Reverend Rod Hank officiated. Mr. Schoephoerster died Friday, December 10, 2004.
Dale C. Schoephoerster, son of Elmer and Ida (Schultz) Schoephoerster was born on May 31, 1926 in Canby, MN.
Dale was a retired Teamster’s Union truck driver. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Allura, five children, Ginny Qualmann, Bonnie Augusta (Pat Plaisted), Sandy (Gary) Colby, Kathy (Steve) Crary and Chuck (Lynn) Schoephoerster; two stepsons, Shane Waldsmith and Allen (Beth) Waldsmith; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Delbert (Helen), Merle and Ralph (Betty) Schoephoerster. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma and two brothers, Harold and Roy. Hamre Funeral Home, Lodi, WI, was in charge of arrangements.

Parker Simison
Private family services for Parker Simison, 86, Pelican Lake, will be held over Christmas week. Mr. Simison died Thursday, December 9, 2004 at home on Pelican Lake under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, Detroit Lakes.
Parker Simison, son of Dr. Charles and Bertha Simison was born on August 20, 1918 in Hawley, MN. He grew up in Hawley and graduated from Hawley High School. He continued his education at NDSU where he graduated in 1942 as a pharmacist.
He married Beth Olson while a student at NDSU. When he graduated they moved to Warren, MI to begin his career in pharmacy. They returned to Minnesota, first to Fergus Falls and then to Moorhead where he and Jerry Hedemark opened S & H Drug Store.
He is survived by his wife, Beth; their four children, Jan (Elizabeth) Redondo Beach, CA, Dian (Frank) Zeck, Lisbon, Tim (Barb) Moorhead and Peggy Hicks, Sussex, WI; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Donald D. Johnson
Funeral services for Donald D. Johnson, 66, Lisbon, were held on Friday, December 17, 2004 at Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon. Reverend David Killeen officiated. Mr. Johnson died Monday, December 13, 2004 at his home in Lisbon.
Donald D. Johnson, son of Joseph S. and Olga (Hammer) Johnson was born on February 17, 1938 in Lisbon. He attended Lisbon School. Don attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis for Radio Broadcasting. He served in the US Navy from 1957 to 1961.
On October 22, 1963, he married Dorothy Walters. Don worked as a radio announcer in Duluth, MN, Wichita, KS, Des Moines, IA, WDAY in Fargo and KQLX in Lisbon.
He is survived by four sons, Scott, Fargo, Christopher (Valerie) Fargo, Corey (Tracie) Fargo, Kelly (Christine) Aurora, CO; one daughter, Jennifer Smedshammer, Fargo; five grandchildren; one brother, Curtis (Jolaine), Lakeville, MN; three sisters, Grace (Oscar) Nelson, Moorhead, Diane (Jerry) Suda, Grafton, and Marian Tack, Bloomington, MN. He was preceded in death by his brother, Milton and a sister, Joan.
Music was provided by organist Mary Jo Smith and soloist Joan Montgomery.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Gerald A. Olson
Funeral services for Gerald A. Olson, 76, Lisbon, were held on Monday, December 13, 2004 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Forman. Reverend Bill Schardin officiated. Mr. Olson died Thursday, December 9, 2004 at the North Dakota Veteran Home, Lisbon.
Gerald Alden “Jerry” Olson, son of Raymond E. and Marie (Stohr) Olson was born on May 21, 1928 at Forman. He grew up and attended school in Forman, and was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Forman. He graduated from Forman High School in 1946. He continued his education at the North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton where he completed a program in printing in June of 1949. He returned to Forman and worked as a printer for the newspaper in Forman.
From February 1951 to February of 1953, Jerry served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a Private First Class and saw action in Korea. After his honorable discharge, Jerry returned to Forman and worked as a printer for the Sargent County Teller in Milnor. He continued working there until his retirement. He made his home in Forman until moving to the ND Veterans Home in Lisbon in 2000.
In June of 2000, on the 50th Anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War, Jerry received a commendation letter and special medal from Kim Dae-jung, the president of the Republic of Korea.
He is survived by a brother, Roger (Lillian) Olson, Albert Lea, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clarence Olson.
Pallbearers for the funeral were members of the Sargent Post #82 of the American Legion of Forman. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry’s friends and family.
Music was provided by organist Doris Olson.
Interment at Concordia Cemetery.
Military honors presented by Sargent Post #82 of the American Legion of Forman.
Price Funeral Chapel, Forman, was in charge of arrangements.
