Agnes Staub
Funeral services for Agnes Staub, 94, Valley City, ND, were held on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City. Rev. Ellen Arthur officiated. Mrs. Staub died Thursday, April 7 at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Agnes Olean Anderson, daughter of Andrew and Oleana (Johnson) Anderson, was born May 17, 1911 in Sheldon, ND. She attended school in the Sheldon area until the age of 12, when the family moved to the Valley City area. Agnes graduated from College High School in Valley City in 1929. After graduation, she worked as a nanny for the Lee family in Valley City.
On April 7, 1935, she married Harold Staub in Britton, SD. They lived in Valley City until 1941 when they moved to the family farm north of Valley City. Agnes farmed with her husband until their retirement in 1977. They moved to Valley City permanently in 1994. Harold died on March 31, 1997. Agnes moved into Bridgeview Apartments in November, 1997, and became a resident of the Sheyenne Care Center in 2003.
Agnes was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City, where she was involved with the church Circle. She was also involved with her birthday club.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen (David) Steidl, Valley City; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one step-great-grandchild, and one step-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Melvin Staub; two brothers; one sister; one grandson, and one granddaughter.
Interment at Woodbine Cemetery, Valley City.
Lerud-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home, Valley City, was in charge of arrangements.

Bernice Jacobs
A Funeral Mass for Bernice Jacobs, 52, New Rockford, ND, was celebrated on Friday, Dec. 15, 2006 at St. John’s Catholic Church, New Rockford. Ms. Jacobs died Tuesday, Dec. 12 at the Fourth Corporation Group Home, New Rockford.
Bernice Barbara Jacobs, daughter of Frank and Ann (Zahn) Jacobs, was born February 1, 1954 in Edgeley, ND. She was admitted to the State School of Grafton in 1955, where she lived until she moved into the services of Fourth Corporation, Fessenden, in 1987. In 2001, Bernice was admitted to the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford. In 2003, she was again admitted to Fourth Corporation, this time in New Rockford.
Bernice was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Fourth Corporation Self Advocacy Club.
She is survived by four brothers, Lawrence (JoAnn), Moorhead, Kenneth (Cari), Wahpeton, Charles (Deb), Bismarck, and Jeffrey (Rhonda), Bismarck, and three sisters, Delaine (LaValle) Schulz, Wishek, ND, Ruth (Earl) Maker, Hunter, ND, and Sherry Schiermeister, Bismarck.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ralph, and one sister, Connie.
Interment at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Lisbon.
Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, was in charge of arrangements.

Charles P. Hall
Charles P. Hall, 72, Enderlin, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Charles, son of John and Velma “Peggy” Alene (Graham) Hall, was born October 6, 1934 at rural Elk City, KS. “Chuck” graduated from high school at Clay Center, KS. He served in the U.S. Navy, and later, worked as a lineman for Idaho Power and Light.
He is survived by son, Andy (Jennifer), Rapid City, SD; daughter, Christa Hall Ward, Royal City, WA; two step-daughters, Mila Long, Royal City, WA, and Carla (Dave) Courig, Bonne Terre, MO; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jack (Louise), Wichita, DS, Bill (Evereta), Indianapolis, IN, and Ron, Alvin, TX, and one sister, Peggy Ann Hall, Midwest City, OK.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Sammy Hall.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Enderlin, was in charge of arrangements.

Cora Orskog
Funeral services for Cora Orskog, 97, Edgeley, ND, were held on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley. Rev. Alan Eppen officiated. Mrs. Orskog died Friday, Dec. 8 at St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure, ND.
Cora Marie Gunderson, daughter of Peter and Mikaline (Frostland) Gunderson, was born December 6, 1909, on the family farm near Fullerton, ND. She moved with her family to Berlin, ND in 1917, where she attended rural school in Willowbank Township, and then Edgeley High School. After high school, she taught in rural schools in the Ashley and Verona areas.
On April 6, 1931, she married Leo Neis. They lived in the Edgeley area until his death on April 6, 1963.
On June 1, 1974, she married Oliver Orskog at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley. They settled in Somers, IA, where Oliver farmed. When Oliver retired, they returned to Edgeley. He died on July 1, 1984.
Cora was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley.
She is survived by one daughter, Janet (James) Rogers, San Diego, CA; two stepsons, Richard (Regina) Orskog, Kirksville, MO, and Stanley (Sandra) Orskog, Lee’s Summit, MO; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Bernice Neis, Bismarck, ND, and four sisters-in-law, Agnes Hagen, Fort Dodge, IA, Janette Gunderson, Edgeley, Margaret Gunderson, Hope, ND, and Dorothy Neis, Edgeley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands; one sister; two brothers; one son, and one stepson.
Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley.
Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, was in charge of arrangements.

Crystal Hegle
Funeral services for Crystal Hegle, 95, Vancouver, WA, formerly of Bremerton, WA, were held on Friday, October 20, 2006, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Bremerton. Mrs. Hegle died Friday, Oct. 13, in Vancouver.
Jane Crystal Marian Gilbertson was born on September 22, 1911 in Milnor, ND. After her education, she taught first and sixth grades in a rural school in the area.
While teaching there, she met and married Irving K. Hegle. They moved to Lisbon, where their two children were born. During World War II, the family moved to Bremerton, where she and Irving found work at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. She retired as a medical secretary. In 2002, she moved to Vancouver to be near her daughter and family. Crystal was a member of the Bremerton Son’s of Norway, Oslo Lodge.
She is survived by daughter, Carmen (Roger) Davidson-Smith; daughter-in-law, Betsy Burns; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irving; son, Bruce Hegle, and two grandsons.

Dorothy Kempel
Dorothy Kempel, 88, Bismarck, died Monday, December 11, 2006. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Rev. Thomas R. Marcis, Jr. officiated. Visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continued one hour prior to the funeral service at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Burial was held in Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
Dorothy was born on March 20, 1918 at Gwinner, ND, the daughter of Elvie Busch-Week, Louis Busch and Syvert Week. She grew up and attended school in the Sargent County area.
She lived for a brief time in Chicago, before moving to Los Angeles where Dorothy met Daniel Kempel. On March 21, 1943, they were married in Glendale, CA. They made their home in Los Angeles, until moving to Buttzville, ND, where they owned and operated the general store and post office. They later moved to Lisbon, where Dorothy worked at the ND Veterans Home. While living in Lisbon, Dorothy was active in Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, on the Ladies Aid, and sang in the choir. She was also an EMT, and served on the State Testing Team for EMTs. In 1994, they moved to Fargo, and in 2004, Dorothy moved to the Waterford in Bismarck. Dorothy loved to knit and crochet, winning many blue ribbons in the Ransom County Fair.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Evelyn (Mark) Orth, Bismarck, ND, Alyce Welder, Lake City, FL, and Eleanor Hoviand (Michael Briggs), Fargo, ND; her sons, Dennis Kempel, San Leandro, CA, and Darrel Kempel, Scollsbluff, NE; her brothers, Donald (Judy) Week, Braunfels, TX, and Kenneth (Joanne) Week, Carson City, NV; her sisters-in-law, Effie Week, Ardoth Week, Lydia Rotenberger and Francis Fadness; her brothers-in-law, Theodore (Hazel) Kempel and Emmanuel Kempel; her grandchildren, Adrian (Michelle) Orth, Tiffany (Christopher) Sandison, Aric (Holly) Hanson, Gregory (Alyse) Welder, Angel Hanson, Elliott Welder, Christopher Kempel, Cassandra Kempel, Aaron Kempel, Ira Hovland, April Hovland, Heather Hovland and Andrew Hovland, and her eleven great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; her infant daughter; her parents; her step-father; her four brothers, Lawrence, Robert, David and Richard, and her son-in-law, James Welder.

Edna M. Dahlstrom
Funeral services for Edna M. Dahlstrom, 87, Lisbon, will be held on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Rev. Norm Anderson and Rev. David Killeen will officiate. Mrs. Dahlstrom died Sunday, Dec. 10, at Parkside Lutheran Home, Lisbon.
Edna M. Dahlstrom, daughter of William Reid and Elizabeth Moffat, was born August 31, 1919 at Chicago, IL. She attended school in Chicago. Edna served in the U.S. Navy from May 1944 until March, 1946.
On February 23, 1946, she married Dale M. Dahlstrom at Farragut, ID. They lived in Lisbon, where Edna was the church secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church. Dale died September 11, 1978. Edna moved to Lake Ozark, MO in 1979, where she worked for Donaldson Law Firm. In 1995 she moved to Stuart, FL. She returned to Lisbon in April, 2005.
She is survived by four sons, James (Liz), Phoenix, AZ, Thomas (Maria), Grand Cayman, BWI, David (Julie), West Fargo, and Steven, Britton, SD; one daughter, Jan (Scott) Melroe, Gwinner; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Ethel Lee
Funeral services for Ethel Lee, 97, Rutland, ND, were held on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 at Nordland Lutheran Church, Rutland. Rev. Kristen Schwan and Rev. Phil Larson officiated. Mrs. Lee died Tuesday, Dec. 12 at Bethany Homes, Fargo.
Ethel Florence Weller, daughter of Charles and Martha (Green) Weller, was born October 4, 1909 at home north of Rutland. She graduated from Forman High School in 1929. She received a six-week teaching certificate from Ellendale Normal College and taught at Mooreton, ND and Wood Lake County School in Marboe Township.
On August 28, 1937, she married Tollef Lee in Veblen, SD. In 1939, she received a two-year teacher’s certificate from Ellendale Teachers College. She then taught school at Ransom #2 country school and Rutland Public Schools. She retired May 27, 1966. In 1998, the couple moved to Fargo, and into Bethany Homes in 2000. Tollef passed away on November 3, 2001.
Ethel was a member of Nordland Lutheran Church, Rutland, and was active in church and school activities.
She is survived by one son, John (Cheryl) Lee, Colfax, ND; two daughters, Sharon (Clarence) Sundlie, Fargo, and Shirley (Pat) Prindiville, Horace, ND; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Lee, Oakes, ND; one sister, Alice Cronstrom, Seattle, WA; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Martha Weller; her husband, Tollef Lee; one son, Richard; six brothers, and three sisters.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Michael Prindiville, Joel Prindiville, Mark Prindiville, Brian Sundlie, Brent Sundlie, Dean Twidwill, Phil Hunt, Jason Zwaline, and Paul Suarez. Honorary pallbearers were Jenifer Hampson, Sherri Sundlie, Johnell Prindiville, Jodi Sundlie, Erin Prindiville, Lisa Prindiville, Darla Prindiville, DaNell Prindiville, Rebecca Lee-Hunt, Gina Manning, and Melissa Twidwill.
Music was provided by organist Kathy Brakke, with special music by Mark, Michael, and Steven Wyum.
Interment at Rutland Cemetery.
Frank Family Funeral Home, Lidgerwood, was in charge of arrangements.
