Bernice Tiegs

Bernice A. Tiegs left this earth to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 26, 2016. Funeral service will be Monday, February 29, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. John’s Belford Lutheran Church, rural Hankinson, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Hankinson, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Bernice Agnes Kuehl was born on April 8th, 1929 to August and Esther (Bladow) Kuehl 3 ½ miles SE of Hankinson, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She attended rural school, Waldo #1, during her elementary years and high school in Hankinson, graduating in 1947.

Bernice moved to California and worked there for a brief time after high school. She moved back to Hankinson and was united in marriage to Armand Tiegs on November 21, 1948. Bernice and Armand moved to the Tiegs family farm 7 miles NW of Hankinson. Their marriage was blessed with six children. Armand passed away in 1997 and Bernice continued to live on the farm until 2012, then moved to Dakota Estates in Lidgerwood for a year and spent her final years at Pioneer Cottages in Breckenridge, MN.

Bernice was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid/Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and a lifetime member of Mantador VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping and fishing, quilting, refinishing furniture and gardening.

Bernice is survived by three sons; David Tiegs (Debbie), rural Hankinson, Bruce (Cindy) Tiegs, Wahpeton, ND and Paul (Beth) Tiegs, rural Hankinson, three daughters; Brenda (Ron) Lugert, Hankinson, Jolene Tiegs, Winnipeg, Manitoba and Jeanine (Andy) Asp, Minneapolis, MN; Grandchildren Janelle (Jared) Pfeifer, Brian (Jessica) Tiegs, Scott Lugert, Eric Fouillard, Jacob (Amy) Tiegs, Joseph Tiegs, Seth Tiegs, Nicole (Kyle) Skillings, Andrew (Maddie) Asp, Megan Tiegs, Jennifer Asp and Samuel Tiegs; Great-grandchildren Ben and Elena Pfeifer, Lilly and Baylee Tiegs, Makenna, Callie and Chloe Vosberg and Katelyn Skillings; sisters-in-law Darlys Tiegs, Darlene Kuehl, Berda Kuehl, Joann Kuehl and brothers-in-law Gary Reinke and Charles Ahrens.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, parents August and Esther, sisters Lorraine Reinke and JoAnn Ahrens, brothers Harold, Howard and Edward Kuehl, an infant sister Arlene and sister-in-law Sharron Brown.

Beth Helen LaQua

Beth Helen LaQua, 84, Hankinson, ND, died Sunday, April 3, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, MN, with her family by her side.

Beth Helen Mourer was born June 15, 1931 in Morgan Hill, California, the daughter of Andrew and Helen Mourer (Campbell). She grew up in Hankinson, ND and graduated from St. Francis Academy in 1949. She then attended Valley City teaching college and received her teaching certificate.

On November 5, 1949, Beth Helen married James Reinke. They lived on a farm southwest of Hankinson where she began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse. In 1969, they moved into Beth’s childhood home in Hankinson. She worked at the Wahpeton Indian School for next sixteen years. Then, in 1986, after receiving her elementary education degree from Moorhead State University, Beth taught at the Hankinson Public School as a reading language arts teacher until her retirement. Beth’s love of teaching touched many students’ lives.

Beth married Vincent LaQua on July 19, 1991. Besides enjoying lots of family time, they spent countless hours gardening. Beth’s flower garden was her pride and joy. Her hobbies and interests also included rock hunting and collecting, reading and collecting books, and sharing her love of learning with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents; husband James who passed in 1976 and husband Vincent who passed in 2011.

Beth is survived by her children: Mary Beth Reinke, Bloomington, MN; Tim (Jean) Reinke, Hankinson, ND; Paul Reinke, Fargo, ND; Kathleen (Curt) Lingen, Hickson, ND; Patrick (Bree) Reinke, Hickson, ND; Renee (Michael) Rott, Cedarburg, WI; Debra LaQua (Mynders Glover), Durango, CO; Frank (Darlene) LaQua, Bismarck, ND; Michael (Lynette) LaQua, Mosinee, WI; 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Wright, CA and Lois Beebe, MN; brothers, Lee and Charles Mourer both WA.

Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 7, at Frank Family Funeral Home in Hankinson. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m., followed by the funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Friday, April 8, at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Hankinson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Hankinson.

Clara Maczkowicz

Clara Maczkowicz, 100 of Verona, ND formerly of Cayuga, ND, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Lisbon Hospital, Lisbon, ND. Funeral mass will be Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Cayuga, ND with burial at the Cayuga Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are her grandchildren: Arthur Hogness, Monte Hogness, Loretta Nix, Betty Retzlaff, Wade Schultz, Scott Schultz, Lori Ternes, Craig Maczkowicz & Brad Maczkowicz. Honorary pallbearers are: all her friends & relatives.

Clara Agnes Maczkowicz was born on October 11, 1914 at Independence, Wisconsin, the daughter of Valentine, Sr. & Ann (Bauch) Resler. In 1919 she moved with her family to Geneseo, ND. She grew up in the Geneseo area and attended school in Geneseo. On October 4, 1939 she was united in marriage to Raymond Maczkowicz at Geneseo. They lived in Geneseo until 1952 when they moved to Cayuga. Raymond passed away on June 18, 1994 and Clara continued to live in Cayuga until 2004. She had lived with her daughter & son-in-law, Ann & Art Hogness for the last 10 years.

Clara enjoyed quilting, gardening & flowers. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.

She is survived by a son: Gerald (Connie) Maczkowicz, Fargo, ND; daughters: Ann (Arthur) Hogness, Verona, ND and Sharon (James) Schultz, Mandan, ND; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren & three great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; four brothers & five sisters.

Darrel Robert Moeller

Darrel Robert Moeller, 79 of Lidgerwood, ND passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton, ND. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood, ND with burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lidgerwood, ND with military honors by the Lidgerwood American Legion Bullis Post #84 & the North Dakota National Guard. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood. There will also be visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers donations to the Lidgerwood American Legion.

Darrel Robert Moeller was born March 19, 1937 in Lamars Township, rural Fairmount, ND the son of Arnold & Clara (Crooks) Moeller. He was baptized on April 4, 1937 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fairmount, ND by Rev. H. Schumacher. Darrel moved to Lidgerwood with his family in 1941. He was confirmed on June 17, 1951 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church by Rev. L.K. Meyers. Darrel attended Lidgerwood High School and graduated in 1955. On May 31, 1955 he entered the United States Air Force and served until February 16, 1959. He then served in the Air Force Reserve until May 30, 1963. On November 7, 1959 he was united in marriage to Gloria Grohnke at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Lidgerwood, ND by Rev. Donald Kirst. After their marriage they lived in Cottage Grove, MN and worked for Braniff International Airlines until 1972 when he purchased the Corner Bar, Lidgerwood, ND which he operated for 30 years. Darrel retired and sold the bar in 2000.

Darrel enjoyed playing softball, golf, hunting, fishing and playing cards. He loved sports and visiting with people. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood American Legion, Lidgerwood Fire Department where he was a past fire chief and was on the Holy Cross Cemetery board.

Darrel is survived by his wife Gloria Moeller, Lidgerwood, ND; daughters: Lori (Todd) Funfar, Fargo, ND, Dawn Moeller (Kevin Crandall), Lidgerwood, ND & Annie (Randy) Bernard, Fairmount, ND; sister: Elois (Gary) Muehler, Cole Camp, MO; brother-in-law: Paul (Bev) Grohnke, Hankinson, ND; sister-in-law: Marlyn Moeller, Fargo, ND; six grandchildren: Jordan, Shelby, Desi, Sadee, Marcie & Miranda and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Arnold & Clara Moeller; mother & father-in-law: Marcella & Erhart Grohnke; brother: Wilbert; sister: Arlene (Arnold) Mattson; brother-in-law: Mark and sister-in-law: Betty.

Doris Krump

Doris Krump, 87 of Hankinson, ND passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at her home in Hankinson, ND. Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 10:30 am at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Hankinson, ND with Pastor Ken Adams officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm all at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Hankinson, ND. There will also be visitation 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

Doris was born February 16, 1929 in Elma Township, rural Hankinson, ND, the daughter of William and Rose (Milbrandt) Boldt. She grew up on the farm and attended country school. She moved with her parents to Hankinson in 1949. On October 16, 1954 she was united in marriage to Albert Krump at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Mantador, ND. Albert passed away on July 4, 2015. Doris worked at Bob’s Fairway Grocery for 15 years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting and sewing. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughter: Paula (Jeff) Zietlow, Hankinson, ND; sisters: Marge Hillgardner, Arizona & Carole Haag, Eden Valley, MN; three grandchildren: one great grandchild and many nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents: William & Rose Boldt; husband: Albert Krump; two brothers & four sisters.

Dorothy Thielman

Dorothy Ann Thielman, 80 of Lidgerwood, ND passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at her home near Lidgerwood, ND. Funeral mass will be Monday, March 14, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Lidgerwood, ND with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Lidgerwood. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers please give donations to Roger Maris Pancreatic Cancer Research.

Dorothy Ann Haase was born at Lidgerwood, ND to Carl and Katherine (Gaukler) Haase on November 30, 1935. She attended St. Boniface Catholic School and attained a high school degree through GED. She had four brothers and two sisters.

In 1953 she married Robert Gereszek, they had two children: James and Diane. Robert’s life was taken through an accident. In 1959 Dorothy married Roger Thielman, they had three children: Karen, Kathy and Michael. That rounded out the family with five children. Roger and Dorothy lived on the farm 2 miles east of Lidgerwood most all their life.

Dorothy worked on the farm, she also worked at York’s Clothing, Dakota Estates and St. Gerard’s Nursing Home for 15 years. Dorothy belonged to Christian Mothers at St. Boniface Catholic Church, also the Better Living Homemakers, Red Hatters and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her children and all the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She leave behind her husband: Roger Thielman, Lidgerwood, ND; sons: James (Debbie) Gereszek, Austin, TX and Michael (Twila) Thielman, Henderson, NV; daughters: Diane Arth, Lidgerwood, ND, Karen Bender, Fargo, ND and Kathy (Mel) Thielman- Block, Gwinner, ND; brothers: Arthur Haase, Lidgerwood, ND, Donald (Renae) Haase, Lidgerwood, ND, Kenneth (Wanda) Haase, Lidgerwood, ND and Wally (Sandy) Haase, Lidgerwood, ND; sisters: Eileen York (Paul), Fargo, ND and Rose Marie (Mike) Buehre, Lidgerwood, ND; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Carl and Katherine Haase; husband: Robert Gereszek, a grandson, granddaughter and great granddaughter; sister-in-law: Dorothy Haase.

Evelyn Catherine Berg

Evelyn Catherine Berg, 88 of Hankinson, ND passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016 at her home in Hankinson, ND. Funeral mass will be Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Philip's Catholic Church, Hankinson, ND with Fr. Scott Sautner as celebrant and burial at Calvary Cemetery, Hankinson. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 5-7 pm with a Legion Auxiliary service at 5:00 pm and a prayer service at 7:00 pm all at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Hankinson. There will also be visitation 1 hour prior to the mass on Thursday at the church. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jack Berg, Kenny Berg, Paul Mindeman, Spencer Mindeman, Randy Mindeman, Ben Mindeman, Mike Kinn, Jeb Berg & Colton Beeson. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters: Eve Noel, Lori Kinn, Rachel Stibal, Nicole Berg & Amanda Berg. Organist will be Mary Ellen Krump with special music by the St. Philip’s Choir.

Evelyn Catherine Thiel Berg was born August 25, 1927, Douglas, ND. She was the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Blonigen Thiel. She attended rural country school and graduated from Douglas High in 1945. She attended a six week teacher certificate course, which allow her to have a teaching job at a country school for one year.

She was united in marriage to Edward Berg July 16, 1947, in Douglas, ND. In November 1952 they moved to a farm near rural Fairmount, ND. Then in December 1959, they moved to a farm west of Hankinson, ND. She moved into Hankinson, ND in 2012, where she resided until, time of her death.

She was a member of St. Philip’s Catholic Church, St. Philip’s Guild, and America Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, bingo, and spending time at the Senior Citizen’s Center. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her numerous friends.

Evelyn is survived by her eight children John (Ellen) Berg, Hankinson, ND; Josie (Shotz) Kinn, Fairmount, ND; Janice (Merlyn) MIndeman, Underwood, MN; James (Kathi) Berg, Hankinson, ND; Jerry (Ihlene) Berg, Hankinson, ND; Joan (Mike) Buske, Oakes, ND; Jolene (Fred) Beeson, Hankinson, ND; Joel Berg, New Salem, ND. Fourteen grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren. One brother: Peter Thiel, two sisters-in- law: Marcy Thiel and Mary Ellen Berg.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Edward, one infant son, and two grandchildren Kayla and Eddie Berg. Her parents, one brother, two sisters, two sisters-in-law and five brothers- in- law.
