Phyllis LaVerne Johnson

Phyllis Laverne Johnson, 85 of Hankinson, ND passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 at her home in Hankinson, ND. Funeral service will be Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10:30 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hankinson, ND with Rev. Adam Moline officiating and burial will be at Immanuel Luther Cemetery, Hankinson. Visitation will be Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Hankinson, ND. There will also be visitation on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are: Randy Frederick, Rick Frederick, Larry Altringer, Robert Altringer, Ron Hankel & Marvin Hansen. Organist will be Bev Grohnke with special music by Tom Rimes.

Phyllis LaVerne Johnson was born September 17, 1929 the daughter of Emil & Mathilda (Paugel) Frederick in Monango, ND. She graduated from Hankinson High School in 1947. On November 7, 1948 she was united in marriage to Don Johnson at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hankinson. After their marriage they lived in Hankinson for one year, then they lived in several towns in North Dakota, Minnesota and then to Overland Park, Kansas. On September 1, 1993 they moved back to Hankinson. Don passed away on October 5, 1993 and she continued to live in Hankinson.

Phyllis enjoyed knitting, liked crossword & jigsaw puzzles, playing cards & traveling. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the LWML.

She is survived by a sons: David (Nancy Reich) Johnson, Kasson, MN; brother: Alvin (Arlene) Frederick, Brooklyn Center, MN; granddaughter: Victoria Alice (Brian) Weisen; 3 great grandchildren: April Rose Lahr (Kyle Wesenberg), Shelby Rose Weisen & Bella Rose Weisen; a great -great grandson: Paxton Peter Wesenberg.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents: Emil & Mathilda; husband: Don Johnson; son: Douglas; daughter: Pamela Jane; 2 brothers & 2 sisters.

Ramona Delleen Baldwin

Ramona Delleen Baldwin, 97, formerly of Geneseo, ND, passed away February 5, 2016 at Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Ramona was born August 10, 1918 in Linton, North Dakota where her parents Loren Clark James and Retta (Sandidge) James homesteaded and ranched.

Ramona graduated from Linton High School in 1937 going on to Valley City State Teacher’s College receiving her teacher’s certificate in 1941. She taught at Wood Lake School, (Marboe Township, ND), later at Neche and Geneseo, ND schools. Ramona married Donald Baldwin on June 1, 1942 in Wibaux, Montana. They settled on the family farm in Marboe Township, ND and raised 4 children. Ramona lived a life of strong faith, loved the farm and its lifestyle, enjoyed gardening, baking, entertaining family and friends while spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.

Ramona was a member of Veblen Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school, was an Elder and active in Presbyterian Women. She was involved in the State Line Homemakers, Busy Bee 4-H Club and Farm Bureau Women. Ramona and Donald also enjoyed traveling with family to Alaska, Arizona, British Columbia, Montana, Washington, Hawaii, and Washington D.C. She was an independent woman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Ramona is survived by 2 sons: James (Karol), Peoria, AZ, Duayne (Jill) Geneseo, ND; 2 daughters: Marian (Randy) Wasvick, Underwood, MN, Denise (Wayne) Jelinek, Benton, KS; sister: Bernice Kinsel, Spokane, WA; brother: Lyle (Mary) James, Williams Lake, BC; sister-in-law: Jeanne Risdall, Rapid City, SD; 10 grandchildren: Robert, Nikki, Bridget, Brian, Amy, Emily, Adam, Christopher, Monique, Chantel and 14 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter due any day. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lucille (Melvin) Brandvold and Esther (Harvey) Moen, brother-in-law Earl Risdall, sister-in-law Patsy (Roland) Twite, daughter-in-law Carol Baldwin & great granddaughter Mallory Nelson.

A time remembrance and visitation will be held Wednesday, February 10 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Frank Funeral Home, Lidgerwood, ND. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Veblen Presbyterian Church, Veblen, SD. Burial will be at the Veblen Cemetery, Veblen, SD.

Maizie Mildred Dybdahl

Maizie Dybdahl (nee Nold, Olerud) of Wyndmere, North Dakota passed away at the age of 94 on July 14, 2016. Maizie enjoyed gardening, baking, daily walks, writing letters, and spending time with family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. We will miss her birthday cards, her delicious banana bread, and her tell it like it is personality. Maizie was proceeded in death by her parents Ester and Orville Nold, husbands Gordon Olerud and Morris Dybdahl, 2 infant daughters and 4 brothers. Survived by son Jerry (Jane) Olerud. Grandchildren Jerry (Barb), Dale, Rocky, Jody, Josh, Jeff Olerud and Jesse (BJ) Thompson. Great Grandchildren Jamie, Jordan, Justin, Ben and Katie Olerud. Great great granddaughter Abby and grandson arriving in September. Visitation will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in McLeod, North Dakota on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 10:30 am with a church service at noon following. Burial will be at Freeman Cemetery, rural McLeod, ND.

Gary Scheffler

Gary Edward Scheffler, 78 of Lidgerwood, ND passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at his home in Lidgerwood. Funeral mass will be Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Lidgerwood with Fr. Jason Lefor as celebrant. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7pm all at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Lidgerwood. There will also be visitation 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Pallbearers are: Angela Irwin, Mark Schultz, Bradley Meyer & Robert Meyer. Honorary pallbearers are: Relatives, friends & classmates.

Gary Edward Scheffler was the third son born to Roy and Catherine (Reynolds) Scheffler on December 1, 1937 at St. John’s Hospital, Fargo, ND. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony of Padua, Fargo, ND. Gary attended 8 years of grade school at St. Anthony’s. In 1955 he graduated from Shanley High School. While attending high school Gary and his older brother Wallace drove wrecker truck for Bob’s Wrecking. After high school he attended Interstate Business College, upon completion he started working for his dad’s company (Roy Scheffler, Inc.) as chief estimator. After his father’s death, he joined his brother-in-law and formed Lake Sand & Gravel at Hankinson, ND. In 1983 Gary moved to Oakland, CA and with his brother-in-law, Bill they purchased Eastbay Wash Rack. They sold the business in 1987 and Gary moved back to Hankinson. Gary & Bill then sold Lake Sand & Gravel and formed Crushing, Inc. They did portable crushing in North and South Dakota until Bill’s death in 2002.

Gary is survived by his sisters: Kathleen Schultz and Karen Marie Meyer, both of Lidgerwood, ND; niece: Angela (DuWayne) Irwin; 4 nephews: Bradley (Renee) Meyer, Robert (Kimberly) Meyer, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Meyer & Mark (Jessica) Schultz and sister-in-law: Pauline (Dale) Lane.

He is preceded in death by both grandparents: Ernest & Nettie Scheffler and Charles & Margaret Reynolds; parents: Roy & Catherine Scheffler; two brothers: Wallace & Gordon; niece: Wendy Rae Scheffler and brother-in-law: William Schultz.

Judith Ann Lelm

Judith Ann Lelm of Lidgerwood, ND went peacefully to her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the age of 66. Judi was in the care of hospice battling COPD and lung cancer. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood, ND with inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Lidgerwood. Visitation will be Friday, July 22, 2016 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7pm all at Holy Cross Church. There will also be visitation 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Judi was born on October 24, 1949 to Douglas & Marion (Lysne) Thompson in Devils Lake, ND. She was the 4th born child out of 5. Judi was baptized & confirmed at a Lutheran church in Tolna, ND. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Tacoma, WA in 1967.

On August 19, 1967, Judi married the love of her life, Ronald Lelm in Tacoma, W. They were united in marriage nearly 49 years. In 1967, they moved to a farm near Wyndmere, ND where 3 sons were born: Chad in 1968, Scott in 1970 & Jason in 1973. In 1975, Judi & Ron moved to a dairy farm near Venturia, ND; where 2 daughters were born: Cheri in 1976 & Tami in 1983. Judi & Ron along with their children spent 17 wonderful years on this farm where many memories were made & will forever be cherished.

Judi was a stay at home mother & wife until 1989 to 1992 when she worked as a CNA at Ashley Medical Center. In 1992, Judi & Ron moved to their current residence in Lidgerwood and became members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. From 1993-1995, Judi worked as CNA at St. Gerard’s Nursing Home in Hankinson, ND. From 1995-2010, Judi worked as a store clerk at Cenex in Lidgerwood.

Through these years, Judi developed many friendships and memories with family, grandchildren & friends whom she enjoyed spending all of her time with. Judi enjoyed reading, playing cards, Sudoku puzzles, going to the casino, watching movies, country music, chocolate, Coke, and ice cream floats.

Judi is survived by her husband Ron, 5 children: Chad (Tori) Lelm, Abercrombie, ND, Scott (Kristina) Lelm, Fargo, ND, Jason (Karen) Lelm, Albuquerque, NM, Cheri (Trent) Anderson, Groton, SD and Tami (Ty) Lelm, Abercrombie, ND; 14 grandchildren: Cody, Cassy, Lane, Shantyla, Nicolas, Jayden, Kaylie, Paige, Taylor, Stephanie, Austin, Dylan, Gracie & Ariah; 1 great grandchild: Amaya; sister: Nancy Brown, Lynnwood, WA; 2 brothers: David (Kim) Thompson, Tacoma, WA & Steve (Margie) Thompson, Hillsboro, OR.

She was preceded in death by her parents’ Douglas & Marion Thompson; sister: Linda Page and grandson Braden Anderson.

Adeline Brownlee

Adeline Brownlee, 85 of Wahpeton, ND passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton, ND. Funeral service will be Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, ND with Rev. Matthew Tooman officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton, ND. Visitation will be Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm all at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. Pallbearers are: Tim Berg, Todd Berg, Allen Berg, Ryan Anderson, Andy Anderson, Scott Anderson, Jerome Brownlee, Jr, Jace Brownlee, Jake Latham, Mike Gross & Mike Wachna. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters: Rebecca Fell, Jackie Latham, Leah Wachna, Carissa Brownlee & Cheryl Gross. Special music by Curt Brownlee.

Adeline Ida Brownlee was born January 14, 1931 on a farm northwest of Lidgerwood, ND, the daughter of Fred & Gustina (Boehning) Wahl. She was the 8th child of 10 children. She was baptized February 14, 1931 and confirmed May 28, 1944 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Lidgerwood, ND. She attended a one room country school through the 8th grade. She lived on the farm until she was united in marriage to Reuben Brownlee on October 29, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Lidgerwood. After their marriage they made their home in Fargo, ND, where their children were all born. In 1961 they moved to Wahpeton, ND where Reuben still resides.

Adeline was active in the Musical Arts Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, where she held several offices and faithfully sold poppies. She also belonged to Immanuel Lutheran LWML also holding several offices and was active in the churches women’s bible study.

Adeline is survived by her husband, Reuben Brownlee, Wahpeton, ND; children: Jerome (Lynda) Brownlee, Prairie Village, KS, Donna (Paul) Berg, Hankinson, ND, Jim (Cindy) Brownlee, West Fargo, ND, Susan (Dennis) Eckes, Devils Lake, ND; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren & sister: Fern Wien, Fargo, ND.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Fred & Gustina; sisters: Ilean Fiske, Helen Brownlee & Mavis Maddock; brothers: Victor, Fredrick, Jr., Wilbur, Lester & Milton.

Rose Ann Clara Blazek

Rose Ann Clara (Foertsch) Blazek passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at CHI in Breckenridge surrounded by family.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 15th from 5:00-7:00 pm at St John’s Catholic Church in Wyndmere with prayer service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, August 16th at 10:30 am with visitation from 9:30-10:30 am.

Rose Ann was born on June 21, 1939 at St Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, MN to Louie (LJ) and Ardella (Reese) Foertsch. She was raised in Wyndmere, attended one year of high school at St Francis Academy in Hankinson, returning her senior year graduating from Wyndmere High School. On August 21, 1958 she was united in holy matrimony to Donald Leonard Blazek at St John’s Catholic Church in Wyndmere. The couple made their home on the IH Blazek farmstead. They were blessed with seven rambunctious children.

In her earlier years she was a member of the Happy Homemakers Club, Jaycettes, Christian Mothers, taught CCD and a church choir member. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, card making, scrapbooking, plastic canvas, ceramics; laminating her clippings and at her children’s dismay, Egg Buddies and Farmville. Family was very important to Rose Ann and was proud to share how many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren they had.

At the time of her death, she was married to her Donnie for 57 years, 11 months, 3 weeks. Rose Ann is survived by her devoted husband, Donald; daughters, Dorene (Lynn) Fandrich; Donna Blazek; Darcy Blazek Heitkamp; Denise (Tom) Kubela; Deanna Blazek (Cleeve) Pakeel; sons, Kevin (Stephanie) Blazek and Kyle (Rhonda) Blazek. 30 Grandchildren: Jessica (Mike) Martel, Jennifer (Shawn) Burman, Jamie and Jaden Fandrich; Adam, Alex, Ally and Arik Mahler; Alysia Heitkamp (Greg Pletschette), Amber (Erik) Swenson, Amy (Jon) Fulwiler; Nicole (Matt) Lommel; Austin and Majken Breuer; Jordan, Emily, Isaac, Caleb, Rebekah, Gideon, Moriah, Lena Blazek; Johnathan, Harrison, Larissa, Preston, Landon Blazek; and Kingston Pakeel; Kyle Kubela and Kassi (Wade) Griffin. 13 Great Grandchildren: Helen and Hazel Martel; Tristan, Chloe and Caylee Burman; Evan Pletschette, Madeline and Gavin Swenson; Emelia, Owen & Alivia Lommel; Wyatt and Cooper Griffin; mother-in-law: Rose Blazek; Sisters: Judy (Clay) Hegseth; Sue Davis, Kris (Bob) Hanson; brothers: Kenny (Karen) Foertsch; Dennis (Dennise) Foertsch and Rick (Heidi) Foertsch; Uncle Bill Reese, Aunt Mary Ann Blazek, Izzy Howe, Bea Foertsch, LaVonne Alme, Dorie Reiman and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rose Ann was preceded in death by her parents, LJ and Ardella Foertsch; stepmom Gretchen Foertsch; father-in-law, Leonard Blazek; infant sister, Mary Theresa Foertsch; and one great grandson.

Craig Pederson

Craig Pederson, 65 of Lidgerwood, ND passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND. A gathering of family & friends will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 5:00 pm at Dee’s Bar & Grill, Lidgerwood, ND.

Craig Jerel Pederson was born August 20, 1950 in Alexandria, MN, the son of Alvin & Marian (Allinder) Pederson. He grew up in Willmar, MN and attended and graduated Willmar High School. After high school he entered the United States Navy. After he was discharged he attended college for electronics. After college he worked with LaVonne & Associates, he then worked for Fischer Scientists. On August 12, 1978 he was united in marriage to Bonni Saari at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Minneapolis, MN. In January 1992 he started working for BME until 2014 when he retired and moved to Lidgerwood, ND.

Craig enjoyed hunting & fishing. He was a member of the Lidgerwood American Legion Bullis Post#84.

He is survived by his wife: Bonni Pederson & daughter: Marisha Pederson, both of Lidgerwood, ND; sister: Debra Swanson, Loveland, Co; many nieces & nephews; brother & sisters-in-law and mother-in-law: Vie Saari.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
