Henry W. Schiffner
Funeral services for Henry W. Schiffner, 81, Hatton, N.D., were held on Monday, October 6, 2003 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Englevale. Reverend David Isaacson officiated. Mr. Schiffner died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at Deaconess Hospital, Northwood, N.D.
Henry W. Schiffner, son of Jacob and Amelia (Arnt) Schiffner was born on March 12, 1922 in rural Englevale. He attended school in rural Englevale.
On September 22, 1946, he married Bernice Stevens Hedland in Englevale. They lived near Englevale where he farmed and worked on the railroad. In 1951 they moved to Igloo, S.D. where they worked for the Black Hills Army Depot. In 1965 they were transferred to Concord, Calif. He retired in 1977 and moved to Detroit Lakes. In 1984 they moved to Lisbon. She died March 7, 1993. On July 29, 1995 he married Yvonne Olsgard Hedland in Hatton. In 1995 he moved to Hatton.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne Schiffner, Hatton; four sons, Duane (Jeanie) Hedland, Valley City, Robert (Carolyn) Hedland, Marysville, Wash., David (Laurel) Hedland, Hatton, Dean (DeAnn) Hedland, Hawley, Minn.; one daughter, Marlys (Joe) Fox, Sheridan, Wyo. 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; six brothers, Albert (Dorothy) Schiffner, Michigan, Bill (Gloria) Schiffner, Hermiston, Ore., Robert Schiffner, Hermiston, Ore., Walter (Chubby) Schiffner, Hermiston, Ore., Lester (Mary) Schiffner, Lisbon, and Theodore (Hazel) Schiffner, Lisbon.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Brett Fox, Jerry Fox, Henry Hedland, Bernie Stasch, Donald Baasch, Jared Hedland, Corey Hedland, Daniel Hedland, and Troy Hedland.
Music was provided by organist Marlene Dahl and vocalists Doris Stroh and Kathy Walton.
Interment at Dick Cemetery, Englevale.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, was in charge of arrangements.

Mark C. Podoll
Funeral services for Mark C. Podoll, 51, LaMoure, were held on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church, LaMoure. Reverend Thomas Puffe officiated. Mr. Podoll died Sunday, September 28, 2003 at Oakes Community Hospital.
Mark Charles Podoll, son of Charles and Mary June (Laffen) Podoll was born on August 7, 1952 at Edgeley. He attended school at Edgeley, Fullerton, Ellendale and graduated from LaMoure High School in 1970. In 1972, Mark graduated from NDSU Bottineau College, Bottineau.
On April 15, 1977, he married Dorothy Randall, in Trinity Lutheran Church, LaMoure. Mark was self-employed as a carpenter with his brother until 1990, when he went to work for ADM Northern Sun, Enderlin for the last 13 years. Mark was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Podoll, LaMoure; three sons, Eric, Loren, and Brice, all of LaMoure; his parents, Charles and Mary June Podoll, LaMoure; one brother, Carter (Sandi) Podoll, LaMoure; four sisters, Karen (Gary) Olson, Oakes, Teena (Jon Ketterling, LaMoure, Penny (Blayne) Doty, Crookston, Minn. and Tracy (Gary) Ulmer, Fullerton; mother and father-in-law, Gerald and Ardella Randall, Dickey, N.D.; two brothers-in-law, Dwight (Sheila) Randall, Steele, N.D. and Darwin Randall, Fargo; two sisters-in-law, Debbie (Mike) Grimes, Mesa, Ariz. and Sue (Jeff) LaPan, Cannon Falls, Minn. He was preceded in death by his sister, Tammy; his grandparents, and one nephew.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Chris Podoll, Levi Ketterling, Andrew Randall, Chase LaPan, Daniel Doty, and Jade Ulmer.
Music was provided by organist Loretta Rasmusson and soloist Van Gross.
Interment at Rosehill Cemetery, LaMoure.
Dahlstrom Funeral Home, LaMoure, was in charge of arrangements.

Ruby V. Llewellyn
Ruby V. Llewellyn, 86, Shelton, Wash., formerly Gwinner, Fargo and Minot, died June 13, 2003 in Shelton, Wash. No services were held.
Ruby Verna Miltimore, daughter of Virgil and Ruth (Hamel) Miltimore was born on February 15, 1917.
She married Leonard Bentson, formerly of Gwinner and Lisbon. On September 13, 1949 she married Lloyd Llewellyn of Minot.
She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie (Gordon) Costa, Sheldon, Wash. She was preceeded in death by her husbands, Leonard Bentson and Lloyd Llewellyn; and children Louise Dunning and Leonard Bentson, Jr.
Inurnment at Gwinner Cemetery.

Wilma Beechie
Funeral services for Wilma Beechie, 97, Litchville, were held on Friday, October 3, 2003 in St. Francis Catholic Church, Marion. Reverend James Tiu officiated. Mrs. Beechie died Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City.
Wilma Miller, daughter of Carl and Annie Sophie (Gillund) Miller was born on October 27, 1905 at Nome, N.D. Her early childhood was spent at Nome and later moved to Fargo where she attended school and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1923.
On November 24, 1925, she married Ronald H. Beechie in St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City with Reverend John Baker celebrant. The couple spent their early years of marriage on the family farm at Nome and later at Osnabrock, N.D. and Fargo. They also lived in Casper, Wyo. and Tulsa, Okla. before settling in Nome. Wilma was assistant to the postmaster at Nome for a number of years. The family moved to Litchville in 1945. Mr. Beechie died January 28, 1987. Wilma continued to make her home in Litchville until entering The Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. Wilma was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Marion and the altar society of the church. Wilma was also active in the Litchville Homemakers Club for fifty years.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Shirley (Olson) Beechie, Mandan; two sons, Brian (Janet Engrebretson) Beechie, Walla Walla, Wash. and Gary Beechie, Bismarck; one sister, Alice Johnson, Enderlin; one brother Wilfred Miller, Pelican Rapids, Minn; ten grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Beechie; one son, Eugene;one granddaughter; one grandson; siblings, Arthur Miller, Pauline (Olaf) Gillund, Effie (M.I.) Skramstad, Bessie (Elton) Johnson, Ernest Miller, Rudolph Miller, Carla (Milton) Johnson and twin infant brothers Wilfred and William Miller.
Interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Valley City.

Evelyn A. Nims
Funeral services for Evelyn A. Nims, 94, Lisbon, were held on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at First United Methodist Church, Lisbon. Reverend Beth Conrad officiated. Mrs. Nims died Saturday, October 25, 2003 at Parkside Home, Lisbon.
Evelyn A. Potter, daughter of Allan and Alma (Leonard) Potter was born on August 25, 1909 in New Ulm, Minn. She attended school in Springfield, Minn., St. Aloysius Catholic School in Lisbon and Lisbon High School graduating from LHS.
On October 9, 1929, she married W. Clark Nims in Lisbon. They farmed near Lisbon until they retired and moved into Lisbon in 1978. He died April 12, 1978. Evelyn was a member of Islandale Homemakers and active in First United Methodist Church. She had been a Sunday School teacher for many years and was active in the women’s organization.
She is survived by two sons, Alan (Sylvia) Nims, Lisbon, Roger (Barbara) Nims, Lisbon; four grandchildren, Brad (Cindy) Nims, Lisbon, Terri Nims, Lisbon, Lori (Mike) Lyons, Lisbon, Michael Nims, Lisbon; four great grandchildren, Lexie and Josh Nims, Megan and Derek Lyons. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Siegel and three brothers, James, Gordon and Bruce.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Don Smith, Bruce Evenson, Harvey Trapp, James Jensen, Jim Kain, and Harold Simpson.
Music was provided by organist Mary Jo Smith and soloist Mary Madsen.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Herbert R. Hanson
Funeral services for Herbert R. Hanson, 71, Lisbon, were held on Thursday, October 30, 2003 at the North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon. Reverend David Isaacson officiated. Mr. Hanson died Sunday, October 26, 2003 at the North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon.
Herbert R. Hanson, son of Albert and Julia (Maugstad) Hanson was born on November 21, 1931 in Hickson, N.D. He attended school in Hickson, N.D. He entered the U.S. Army in 1952. He was stationed in Fort Sill, Ok. He served in the Korean War.
In 1968, he married Pearl Peterson. Herbert worked for area farmers near Hickson. He worked at Fargo Tank Co. before moving to the N.D. Veterans Home in 1985.
He is survived by two sons, Karl Hanson, Fargo, and Kevin (Amy) Hanson, Lakewood, Colo.; one grandchild; two sisters, Joyce Erickson, Moorhead and Florence Hanson, Moorhead.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Ray Meyers, George Beauchamp, George Scull, Bob Elijah, David Dahlgren, Jake Reuter, Al King, and Tore Bratvold.
Music was provided by Irene Hoenhause.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Lucille Riedmann
Funeral services for Lucille Riedmann, 89, Valley City, were held on Monday, October 27, 2003 at St. Mary’s Church, Dazey, N.D. Mrs. Riedmann died Monday, October 20, 2003 in Mercy Hospital, Valley City.
Lucille Leist was born on July 13, 1914 in Buttzville, N.D. She graduated from High School in Lisbon.
On March 31, 1937, she married Joseph Riedmann in Lisbon. They farmed near Dazey, N.D. They moved to Valley City in 1998. He died in 2000.
She is survived by three sons, Richard (Virginia) Riedmann, Sidney, Mont., Conrad (Frances) Riedmann, Mount Angel, Ore., James (Kim) Riedmann, Salt Lake City; two daughters, Joanne Eberle, Valley City, Mary Ann (Jimmy) Bowles, Cape Coral, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dazey.
Peterson-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home, Valley City, was in charge of arrangements.

Patrick Sautner
Funeral services for Patrick Sautner, 43, Harvey, N.D., were held on Thursday, October 30, 2003 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva, N.D. Father Scott Sautner and Father Dan Mrnarevic officiated. Mr. Sautner died Sunday, October 26, 2003 in Fargo.
Patrick Sautner, son of Harlin and Marlys L. (Smith) Sautner was born on March 17, 1960 in Harvey. He attended school in Harvey. Over the years he worked as a laborer. Recently he worked as a truck driver in the Fargo area.
He is survived by seven brothers, Douglas (Rhoda) Sautner, Bismarck, Darrel Sautner, Lisbon, Dennis Sautner, Jamestown, Donald Sautner, Bismarck, Thomas Sautner, Minot, James Sautner, Forman and Father Scott Sautner, Lakota; five sisters, Debbie Sautner, Jamestown, Diane (Rick) Degenstein, Oakes, Julie (Roger) Rademacher, Harvey, Ann Striefel, Minot, and Sandra (Paul) Brewer, Carrington.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Gerald Reinke, Larry Hoffer, Amber Brewer, Andrew Brewer, Adam Sautner and Heather Sautner. Honorary Bearers were Jeremy Brewer, Jeremy Sautner, Brian Degenstein, and Tanya Brewer.
Music was provided by organist Marilyn Anderson.
Interment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Velva, N.D.
Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, was in charge of arrangements.
