Clifford R. Schlader
A private family service was held for Clifford R. Schlader, 81, Lisbon. Reverend Leon Zavadil officiated. Mr. Schlader died Thursday, October 2, 2003 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Clifford R. Schlader, son of Anthony and Edna (Newling) Schlader was born on February 5, 1922 in Lisbon. He attended school in rural Lisbon. Clifford farmed near Lisbon until 1991 when he moved into Lisbon.
He is survived by one brother, Harold (Joyce) Schlader, Lisbon; three sisters, Eleanore Dutton, Concordia, Kan., Evelyn (Allen) Hanson, Enderlin, and Beverly Adolf, Fairmount, N.D. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Clarence and one sister, Dorothy.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Tim Suter, Allen Suter, Richard Adolf, David Adolf, and Paul Adolf.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, was in charge of arrangements.

Hazel E. Bale
Funeral services for Hazel E. Bale, 101, Fargo, will be held on Monday, October 13, 2003 at First Presbyterian Church, Fargo. Mrs. Bale died Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at ManorCare Health Services, Fargo.
Hazel Eleanor Bartow, daughter of William Hageman and Eliza Jane (Whiteaker) Bartow was born on August 22, 1902 in Whittelsey, Wis. She moved to Slope County in 1910 where she attended high school and in 1928, graduated from Dickinson Normal School. Hazel taught school near Amidon, N.D. and was appointed Deputy County Treasurer of Slope County and later was elected County Treasurer in 1941.
In 1944, she married Stanley W. Bale. They moved to Mandan in 1949, where she was active in the Presbyterian Church. In 1955, she moved to Fargo and continued to be active in the First Presbyterian Church. She taught Vacation Bible School and was active in the Women’s Association and YWCA. She served as secretary and president of the Alpha Gamma Rho Auxiliary. She was president of the Gamma Phi Beta Mother’s Club and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Hazel was very active in 4-H and was a club leader for five years She lived at ManorCare Health Services, Fargo for the past seven years.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane (James W.) Larson Emison, Deephaven, Minn.; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Jennie Tryggestad, Viroqua, Wis. and Ruby St. John, Union, Ore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Bale, sister, Grace Pfiefer, Claude, Orland, Edward W. Theodore, and Richard Bartow.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, was in charge of arrangements.

Hilma Huseth
Funeral services for Hilma Huseth, 88, Wahpeton, were held on Thursday, October 9, 2003 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. Reverend Chris Anderson officiated. Graveside service was eld Thursday afternoon in the Leonard Cemetery.Mrs. Huseth died Monday, October 6, 2003 at St. Francis Medical Center, Breckenridge, Minn.
Hilma Gulland, daughter of Henry and Anna (Storas) Gulland was born on May 2, 1915 at rural McLeod. She attended school in McLeod.
On February 25, 1933, she married Paul Gibbon. they lived in Leonard, N.D. where she worked for Laskey Red Owl for 17 years. He passed away in 1962.
She married Norman Huseth in 1966. They lived in Wahpeton until they retired and moved to Ottertail Lake, near Richville, Minn. Norman died on July 26, 1986. Hilma moved back to Wahpeton where she has resided ever since. Hilma was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary
She is survived by her son, Earl Gibbons, Enderlin; three granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; one step-son, Gerald (Karen) Huseth, Fargo; five step-daughters, Marlene (Gene) Jones, Wyndmere, Karen (Virgil) Schultz, Sheldon, Cheryl (Donald) Rosenberry, Fargo, Marlys Clark, Moorhead; 13 step-grandchildren; many great step-grandchildren; and her sister, Marie Johnson, Fargo. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Gibbons and Norman Huseth, seven brothers, Henry, Charles, Johnny, Joseph, Clarence, Edwin and Oscar; two sisters, Lula and Ida, daughter-in-law, Eileen Gibbons, step-son, Gene Huseth, step-granddaughter, Teresa Jones and her special friend Pete Polansky.
Interment at Leonard Cemetery, Leonard.

Marcella Klocke
Funeral services for Marcella Klocke, 79, New Rockford, N.D., were held on Thursday, October 9, 2003. Reverend Bernard Pfau and Reverend Frank Schuster officiated. Mrs. Klocke died Monday, October 6, 2003 at her home.
Marcella Klocke, daughter of Jacob and Mathilda (Hartl) Steinbach was born on July 6, 1924 at New Rockford. She attended Munster Township school and graduated from the St. James Academy at New Rockford.
On May 25, 1943, she married Pete Klocke at New Rockford. They farmed southeast of New Rockford, until his death on June 4, 1987. Marcella moved back to her family farm in Munster Township in 1997. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Circle, both at New Rockford.
She is survived by two sons, Kevin Klocke, Enderlin, Greg (Heather) Klocke, New Rockford; five daughters, Deb Bailiff, Florence, Ariz., Annette (Art) Jordan, Howard Lake, Minn., Cindy (Paul) Scrodin, Rochester, Minn., Kim (Don) Bradley, Rochester, Minn., Penny (Jerry) Schuster, New Rockford; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard (Luella) Steinbach, New Rockford, Robert (Marion) Steinbach, Bismarck, John (Elizabeth) Steinbach, New Rockford; one sister, Sister Geraldine of Sacred Heart Convent, Fargo. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Judy Sheehan, one grandson and her parents.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Martin Sheehan, Art Jordan, Paul Scrodin, Don Bradley, Jerry Schuster, Rod Johnson. Honorary bearers were all her grandchildren.
Music was provided by organist Naomi Allmaras and special music by Heather Klock, song leader and Kirsten Georgeson, violinist.
Interment at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, New Rockford.

Reverend Arthur Larson
Funeral services for Reverend Arthur C. Larson, 65, Milnor, were held on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at Milnor Lutheran Church, Milnor. Bishop Rick Foss officiated. A second service was held Thursday, October 2, 2003 at Clearwater Lutheran Church, Shevlin, Minn. Reverend Naomi Garber officiated. Reverend Larson died Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo after a long illness with cancer.
Arthur Calvin Larson, son of Alfred O. and Pearl (Traaseth) Larson was born on February 17, 1938 in Shevlin, Minn. He graduated from Bagley High School in 1956, Concordia College in 1960, and Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1965.
On October 17, 1959, he married Sylvia Marlis Borud at Bagley, Minn. In September of 1960, Arthur started in the ministry as a licensed lay pastor for two years. Ordination into the Holy Ministry took place at Shevlin, Minn. June 13, 1965. After ordination, he served parishes in Badger, Minn., Kindred, Bryant and Vienna, S.D. and Nashwauk, Minn. In 1997 Pastor Larson began serving Milnor Lutheran Church and later Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural DeLamere. Over the years, Pastor Larson has worked in Conference Training events for Parish Education and Council Member Training. He also served on numerous conference and synod committees. He was a member of the Red River Valley Woodcarvers Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; two sons, Calvin (Carrie) Larson, Shevlin, Minn. and Marcus (Debra) Larson, Hickson; one sister, Phyllis (Arlan) Johnson, Red Wing, Minn.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister.
Interment at Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery, Shevlin, Minn.
